Report on blockchain usage by banks.
Blythe Masters is formerly CIO of JPM and creator of CDS.
One of the more notable female figures in finance.

http://www.c[Suspicious link removed]m/2016/04/06/blockchain-in-banks-a-reality-in-less-than-2-years-blythe-masters.html

EDIT : hey what happened. why does it say "suspicious link removed"? It's a report from CNBC.

I didn't read the article but she's not talking about bitcoin or similar.  She's talking about bank chain.  Last time I was in her office we were discussing the repo market and the novation of those repos via a centralized clearing hub to prevent another lehman like catastrophic failure in the system, except this time with central banks involved.  She only wants to securitize and clear transactions of $100MM USD notional or above in her system and it will have lots of "private ledger" and centralized control features in it.  Still, I guess it could be considered "blockchain" so that's good.

Edit:  I'm pretty sure they announced that news a month or two ago, so that info on the repo stuff is no longer confidential.

It's pretty clear the big banks just want to use underlying blockchain technology to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency.
They definitely don't intend to use BTC or any altcoins as its not in their best interests to do so.
All the *coins have been stripped out of the equation.

I think they really don't give a shit about those things.  They have a plan already to game it, or it would never proceed.

These kind of machine is only good for scientific computing with double precision operation. It is too expensive for mining.

Bitcoin has been, even historically, very stable over the last 30 days.

If history indeed repeats itself, bitcoin price will go up. Since most here think of Monero's value in Bitcoin, I understand why there is xmr/btc selling pressure (especially after the 3x rise).

Disclaimer: I am not (day)trading.

- You can figure out what will happen, not when /Warren Buffett
- Pay any Bitcoin address privately with a little help of Monero.

I do not know you but personally I am not worried about the price of XMR. The rise has not been bubblish 30 % a day for a couple weeks but pretty slow and steady (a sudden pump + consolidation, pump + consolidation, rinse and repeat). In that way it is possible to bring the price pretty much up for ever (obviously later the pumps are not that sharp as they are now when price is still sub 1000 usd or so).
I personally prefer a coin that pumps for ever. Theoretically Monero type of currency should be one as the coin is slightly deflationary in the future (the overall long-term economic growth is ca 2 % pa and the inflation of XMR will probably be lower than this).

In the beginning the rises are pretty steap as even small increase in demand will drive the price crazy (XMR is pretty illiquid at these low levels). When the price is higher, also if person needs to buy a house/a space yacht etc it will not crash the price.

I was here last year - despite the charts are looking very similar, I see some major differences (not the least: last year the price was driven up with buying bots that shooted buy-orders with fractions of Moneros creating an illussion of increased demand). This year I am seeing a huge trading volumes and not faking bots attempting to create artificial demand.

Emission was a killer for the price in the past but it did facilitate a broader distribution which is fundamental for success as a currency.

TC:  I see you changed your sig, does that mean now that you are a perma bull?

To be honest, I am not so sure if I am a perma bull but certainly a bagholder.  Grin
2014-2015 were years of high emission. Therefore if the price rose it was an opportunity to sell and waite a little bit so that you were able to rebuy lower... Now if we start dumping I see it a bit of failure as the community is not able to keep up the marketcap with the current inflation which is not big.

I have been in XMR for the long haul pretty much since the beginning but I played some pump'n'dump games with it (and it was funny to read as some people freaked out when I turned my colors from green to red and from red to green).  Cheesy Much entertainment. Much good time.  Cheesy

Such ridiculous illusions of grandeur lol.
Nobody's been freaking out over you. Many simply mock your flip-flopping or warn newbies about your self-centered posts.

Personally I equally dislike your posts when your bullish, things like "good chance to reach 2000$ this year!". You do sometimes substantiate and support your claims, which is even more a pity as it shows you're capable of doing so and choose not to do it voluntarily, very often when just talking your crappy book.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I actually issued yesterday a warning about the rise of Monero and I told the shorters to start covering.. It did not take long after the price started to rise. And this is not an illusion but the truth.
Generally I have been pretty accurate in my views and people following my predictions have good odds to make actually some real money.

Order book looks damn healthy.

Maybe The Whale is taking a little break from wall-building and price-influencing.  If so, it will be interesting to see what happens through the weekend.

The XMR price development looks pretty damn awesome. We're still rising steadily, with of course the occasional spike and pullback. Contrary to a lot of other projects, XMR hasn't seen a major speculative overextension. Yes, we've risen a lot, but compared to ETH/FCT/... it has been rather mild so far.

Fundamentally we're doing amazing. Technically we're still in amazing shape, and actually getting better the last few days. I speculate we'll be testing the former rally's high (0.0044) this weekend, and will be flirting with 0.006-0.007 in a couple of weeks (maybe sooner) defintely isn't out of the question. After that it has to remain to be seen where we'll end, but short- mid term we're in for a solid move up.

One thought that occurred to me...

I suppose reasonable people might disagree, but it seems pretty clear that there has been some attempts at price influencing this last week.  The buy walls and sell walls COULD be people who were legitimately buying and/or selling, but 1) many of the walls were removed, not eaten, and 2) that would be a sub-optimal way to buy/sell such large quantities of XMR.

I wonder if the price-influencer specifically used this period of time because it coincides with the time in 2015 that XMR fell hard from the .004 range.  Seems possible that they were hoping people WOULD equate the action to last year.

More likely to be a case of waiting to see how the BTC/USD triangle resolves. ETA 7-10 days from now.

If that breaks upward then we'll likely see ALT/BTC pairs falling somewhat, at least on the interim.

Hello Thunderhead, and a warm welcome to the Monero community. Poloniex is the main Monero exchange at the moment.
