...dark flarb forever. You know there is real meaning in this April fools joke. I'm surprised this name was chosen by this btc forum.
Very curious about this. I couldn't find anything, other than reference to a past April Fools Day prank. What is the meaning of it, and why is it (in)appropriate? My memory sucks. I remember it being a joke about naming/renaming of coins and fluffypony participated. The possibility of M onero being renamed. In my fog it seemed to me that those from the outside would have had to be paying attention in order to use this as the current April fools joke. I may very well be mistaken about this last part. My speculation is that both btc and XMR will go up this coming week so that when I get paid next Friday I will recieve less btc than what I should have received this past Monday. Payment is delayed cause "they" messed up again. Compound this less btc with higher XMR prices =  @ the world revolves around me, can't find the correct emoticon  |

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Thanks. Makes me wonder if there might not be a few people who are interested in this coin, without leaving any online/forum evidence of it. It IS the anonymity coin, after all. |

On another note, did anyone see the recent market action? Let me explain this gambit to you: What happens is a small bull run leads a few people to pile on and scoop up a whale's walls. Then the crafty whale, once he has sold enough Monero to enough bandwagoners, punishes the price and sells enough to send the price into a mild correction - whereupon the n00bs, not wanting to get caught in a dump, sell their now expensive Monero right back to Mr. Whale at a lower price. How to protect against this tactic? Only buy Monero you intend to hold long term, and don't be frightened by the immediate correction after a buying spree. Large holders have been burned in the past while trying to use this tactic when the price instantly rebounds and keeps soaring - permanently removing that XMR from the whale's hands and/or forcing them to buy back in at a higher price. Sadly, the perpetual churn of n00bs (who don't realize that Monero isn't PiggyCoin) ensures this tactic will likely stay profitable for the forseeable future. |

I bet he is using reverse psychology: He has open short position. He plays to be annoying guy and sets threaths. If he gets people annoyed enough and dump he can run out from here a stash of cash from the hands of the community. We saw this before in the /r/moneromarkets subreddit where a loud mouth came in and started crying loudly about how he would get liquidated at 250k and how could the DarkFlarb community do this to him: https://www.reddit.com/r/moneromarkets/comments/4ay9k4/i_get_margin_called_at_254ksomeone_help_now/. I would bet this is a sequel of the same tactic. In which case, the best thing to do is ignore him and keep buying all available DarkFlarb.  Did not see this as I am not a constant reader/follower of reddit. The traders know the only way to push darkflarb down is to convince the bagholders to sell (the emission is not able to put any downward pressure on DarkFlarb since it is getting squeezed down so the only source to get any meaningful amount of coins are the bagholders releasing some from their treasure chest). I do not know about you guys but personally I have years and years time to waite. Especially I am looking for legitimate and safe ways to collect passive income in Monero form as I think XDF is the ultimate store of big wealth. |

That's agreed TC. I sometimes watch the shell tickers pump, and jealously watch them make 100% in a day, but these are just money-generation schemes. The penultimate goal of these games is simply to acquire more Monero, so I believe I will be happy beating them to the punch and simply acquiring it to begin with. There's a reason Polo has an XMR market - one day there will be enough volume on that market to sustain the price pairs, and people will (I'm hoping) be able to margin long other coins by borrowing others XMR. People play money games to get more money, and Monero is that money. If your end goal of riding any 'pump' or trading isn't to acquire more precious XMR, you didn't read the instructions in the box properly.
As always, I have nothing but humble praise for this miraculous piece of software and the hard working computer scientists who are making it possible. Those paying attention are no doubt noticing that we are inching closer and closer to a 1.0 release.... I can only speculate this will be the GUI release (at long last). |
