What if I am not afraid.  Will that just make it worse?

Oh yeah. That would scare the shit out of me.

Alternatively, BTC can stay above 10k, but the BTC/XMR ratio would have to slip to the 0.022 range to get into $230s.

What's the difference between Monero and Zcash?
The difference between driving a lambo down the coast highway and hanging yourself in a Bangkok jail cell.

HAHahah!!! Good one! Cheesy

I like Monero very much, but i think that deep onion is probably a better investment at the moment because of its low market cap.

It's a game of call the top, in other words it's a ponzi thats probably too late to get in.

Any specific reason why bitcoin tumbles down again... or is it just another day in crypto Cheesy

Cause I can't sell it when Coinbase has it locked up. Smiley

Seriously it always happens after a futures market opens doesn't it? AFA I understand it, it's just figuring out the timing and the extent.

although i did not jet sold 1 xmr , it is kinda scarry to see how fast it goes down... i really believe it will go back up again but on the other hand , we can go a lot lower ... 1000 by the summer , i dont know in this sentiment if we will get there...

I of course did the exact wrong thing. I liquidated, converted to BTC to move to fiat until correction and watched BTC tank while coinbase held my BTC. Now where am I gonna get the money to get some when we hit the real low?

Mainly it depends of how all crypto sphere will move.  If we will have Bitcoin at $5000 at summer would be quite stupid to expect Monero at $1000.  There is high possibility 2018 will be new 2014. And in general that would be most natural and most healthy. Because if 2018 would be just another 2017, then 2019 would be definitely an ARMAGEDON.

The question is, how low it will go and when is next best entry point?

I agree. funny I read this girth after I wrote the previous response.

So the million new accounts per day or whatever the exchanges are signing up...  Are they signing up to sell, or to buy the dip?  The reasons for crypto in the first place are stronger every day.  Too big of a pause in 2018 means 2019 goes VERTICAL.  Zoom Out.

I saw the local news in chicago telling people how to buy bitcoin last saturday right after the football games so right there I knew it's heading straight down for awhile.

Question now is, when is a good time to buy back into XMR? Is is going to drop more? Who here thinks BTC will fall below $10,000?

I certainly do. I was trying to sell at 17K.

Question now is, when is a good time to buy back into XMR? Is is going to drop more? Who here thinks BTC will fall below $10,000?

As far as I'm concerned, it has to. What else is going to drag XMR down to $230 where it needs to be?

why does it need to be at 230 ?

so I can buy it. Smiley

So the fear can set in, the trolls can come out, and the cycle can repeat.

I wonder if we will get new trolls or if some of the old ones will come back.

MrKavasaki? Both of those scroodge ducks....  Wank something?  I don't remember all the names.

What if I am not afraid.  Will that just make it worse?

None of us could predict exactly the flooring value and best time to reinvest. Bitcoin and Altcoins are speculative in nature to which its very hard to analyze on what will be the outcome at the end of the day. Professional forecasters almost comes close when giving out their opinions and since they couldn't predict the exact timing, many investors opt out not to rely with these predictions. I do think that it will be better if you'll just monitor the market manually by yourself instead on relying to other people. Most of the time, believing in your intuition works out well instead of a well designed investment plan.

Yes, my intuition said to me that we would reach a market cap of something near 1 trillion (there is a post saying that here) and then we would retract to 400 bi and if that doesn't hold back to 200 bi and then 100 bi, which is, again by my intuition, the floor... I expect to stop at 400bi, but 200 bi movement in a single day is really shocking! It shows the dark side of an unregulated market in which we are!

Question now is, when is a good time to buy back into XMR? Is is going to drop more? Who here thinks BTC will fall below $10,000?

As far as I'm concerned, it has to. What else is going to drag XMR down to $230 where it needs to be?

How about we compromise? We don't go down so low, but we don't go up so high? Rule of four, perhaps?

This volatility has made me realize me my BP is not BP.

I picked $230 by just taking 50% from the ATH of $460-475 and rounding down. However, I believe the price was over $500 on a few non-Bithumb exchanges, which would make today's low of $254 a "reasonable" bottom.

That said, I wouldn't assume we've seen the bottom quite yet.

EDIT: The price did go to $237 on Bittrex.

Looks like we all managed to survive.

So - the 64,000 dollar question - if this is the bottom, when and what is the next top?

My bet is always the same: 5X wherever the price stabilizes, 45ish days after the bottom. So if we stick around $300 moving forward, that puts us at $1500 in early March.

You're probably correct, but I only look at USD markets (where $477 seems to be the top) because as far as I can tell cryptowatch doesn't chart BTC pairs in USD. That would be a nice feature.

Yep, at the click of a button, under the settings tab(gear icon).  I tend to just keep an eye on Livecoinwatch  though.

Checking that box has never seemed to change anything for me, unfortunately Sad

Well hell.  You are correct.  I use it for several other markets no prob, only works for other fiats, it seems.  Oh well,  LCW does the trick.
