allegedly ok but you can run the gui / cli wallet connecting to a remote node quite safely as well. no need to run a full node. I guess you learn something new every day. I'll look into that instead, I didn't realize you could do that. --- Get a ledger nano s and they have monero wallet inside. Physical wallet is very safe if you have too much monero. ...
For now a combination of software wallets and cold paper wallets are working for me, so I really don't want to put down 50ish dollars for something I don't need. Like I said, I really don't have enough to bother with a cold or hardware wallet (I know, words of somebody who will later be upset that he lost it), but I'm holding for the long term so I figure that I'll get it on a wallet that I control the private keys.

Just bought a Laptop using it and xmr.to. Works great. The level to which you trust it is kinda your call. It works with standard 25 word seeds so it can be the front end for a wallet on a computer as well.

Don't use unknown third party wallets for Monero. You may lose all your funds there if they're scammer. Get a ledger nano s and they have monero wallet inside. Physical wallet is very safe if you have too much monero. I understand the mistrust. Kind of. But It's open source and you can put a small amount on it... But as to the Nano S... I own one. There is no Monero wallet for it yet.

For cold storage a paper wallet can be as secure as a hardware wallet. More so, actually. A paper wallet has ONE attack vector. The hardware wallet shares that vector and adds the small additional vulnerability in that someone could hack the wallet etc. I LOVE the nano s. And use it as my chilly-wallet. . I look forward to the completion of the Monero code for it. But nothing really beats a properly created paper wallet for just security.

Monero still underpriced. I'm not totally certain that it will exceed Ethereum by market cap, but certainly Monero deserves to be above things like Ripple and Bcash. Given that Ethereum is over $65B, Bcash and Ripple are each around $30B, I see a $50B market cap for Monero as totally realistic. Ledger wallet, multisig and bulletproofs are all yet to be priced in, so $1000+ before October 2018 is quite likely, in my opinion.

So, you are expecting Monero to increase 3x the current price in the next 10 months? When was the last time growth was that low? Think about what it has averaged for the last 2 years and if you want to be conservative discount that number. My gut feel is we should see a 7 to 15 times increase from now over the next year if the following happen as planned and no really catastrophic events derail things. - Bullet Proofs is implemented successfully
- Kovri
- Coinbase adoption
- Multisig and major DNM adoption
If all of this comes through, I can't imagine we would not increase 10x by the end of 2018 and if we meet the $425 projection I've seen talked about by Christmas, that would be $4250. I will have 2 very Merry Christmas's in a row at that point!

This is something that bears watching, IMO: http ://redditmetrics.com/r/Monero
Out of 1.2 million /r/, Monero is:
No. 104 Fastest growing yesterday No. 117 Fastest growing last 7 days No. 201 Fastest growing last 30 days No. 427 Fastest growing last 90 days
Over 1000 new subscribers per day, and accelerating. Sure, all of crypto is expanding, but to me this indicates that Monero is receiving its share of attention, and more. Ranked near top 0.1% (for # subscribers on that site) and exploding upward. This is visibility, adoption, exposure, whatever you want to call it. Here it comes.
Cool stats, they match my sense of what is happening. I see a dip against BTC and then (unlike in the past) there are immediately bargain hunters, hoovering up any signs of cheap Monero. You have to realise you just can't buy cheap Monero any more, unless you're very quick off the mark. I am having to adjust my trading stance accordingly... EDIT: BTW, Explorer - I guess you have also spotted how the odd mention of Monero in the WO thread is allowed to pass through the velvet rope. Far more of the smarter people are keeping Monero quietly in their portfolio, it seems It doesn't hurt that the WO moderator moonlights here.

Yep, I'm just being very conservative. I think a near term price of multiple thousands would require some significant improvements in usability and privacy, however. Beyond just the space savings of bullet proofs, Monero transactions need a larger anonymity set. I don't think that the current ringsizes are sufficient for truly inscrutable privacy.
I haven't heard much about RuffCT/RingCT2.0, or whatever it's called now. If I remember correctly, using the entire blockchain as an anonymity set was mentioned at one point. Any news in this area?

Monerujo is open source and as reliable as it gets. It's just a wrapper for the regular Linux wallet anyway. The Monero subreddit recommends Monerujo and warns that Freewallet is a scam. For long-term storage, you could create a written paper wallet using an offline address generator, so you don't need to connect to the blockchain at all. Of course you can't check your funds on a block explorer - that's a downside of Monero's anonymity in this case.

Fixed:
Stinking polo screwed me again today, put a long in at .01680020 .01800020 and it filled and immediately cancelled as the price spiked. They are such fucking scammers now. I wouldn't doubt they are controlling the P&Ds as they are so much more pronounced now even with such a large market cap.

I wonder that there is not so much outcry on this issue. Or maybe I live under a rock. Regardless, they do this to me as well (the fees never disappear, only the position), and some weird shit goes on with the margin calculations when it's busy. Count yourself lucky on failing to long @ 0.018 Hope you got in lower

Altcoins are getting pulled when bitcoin spikes but will hit rock bottom when it goes down, monero is now sitting on the price where ETH once sat if it all goes well we might see monero climbing up the ladder at 2018.

No. It's whatever the fuck *I* want to call it and it is BCASH. Are we straight? Personally I prefer Bitcointrash myself. Predictions for the morning - BTC smashes $20k before CME futures open and XRM gets above 0.02 for $400+ coins.
