I've heard rumors Monero is going to fork away from Cryptonight.  Any rough estimates on when this is going to happen?  I haven't been keeping up with much in the crypto world.

The word on the streets of Monero is cuckoo cycle but there's still work to be done, my best guess is it wont happen this year, but soon.

I would take the time to figure out how to exploit them if I didn't think it's a 99+% chance I would suddenly have a "problem with my withdrawal" afterwards.

I hear you but I'm not sure if that would have been the most lucrative. But drawing attention to that massive stack he wants to unload is bad news. why not just return coins to the people? I'm sure they would gladly accept much less now that it's worth so much more. I bet it's because he gets a bigger cut this way.
