They have to announce the specs and price sometime this weekend right. I mean if they plan to ship by the end of the month they need to get on it and start taking orders. Can't wait to see what they came up with!!!
Well according to an idiot on here, they cant sell it at loss, so that means.... they will never launch the S4 . You know just like how a guy bought btc at high and wont sell low .... It doesn't necessarily mean they would sell at a loss. They'd just price it higher than most people can justify. And they'll just mine for themselves if people don't want to buy. Most (all?) ASIC manufacturers simply don't care if the public wants their product or not. It's a no-lose situation for them and a no-win situation for us. Are you retarded? What if the "just price it higher than most people can justify" mean a loss? The fact that you think its a no lose situation shows you're dumber than you sound. Say that to thousands of bankruptcy companies, "dont worry yo.... just produce who gives a shit about demand." not many companies can say "fuck it, we will mine it ourselves" and in that way recoupe whatever they used for building the product. build price, vs sell price is 2 different animals...

Hence the whole point of selling mining gears so they can take profits over risk.

Plus that, given a 20% margin, for every 4 sold you'd have 1 free to use as you wish.

"should be early next week" - means only if the BTC price pops up which is highly not going to happen
I was thinking the same thing. They do not want to set a high bitcoin price to reflect the fiat costs that they want to make. Too many people would convert fiat to buy it right now if they posted a low bitcoin price.

Wtf?! Don't be such an asshole, asshole! If you had any reading comprehension skills maybe you would understand what I was saying. Here, let me try again... Bitmain would NEVER sell S4s at a loss because... wait for it...they don't have too. If they price the S4 so they make a healthy profit on each unit but it's too expensive for home miners, they won't sell many at retail. But they'll just mine with them or add them to Hashnest. And remember, their costs to mine with their own equipment is much lower than home miners who pay retail and don't have access to cheap power. They will be able to run them for a very long time before they become unprofitable. Some idiots here even think that Bitmain will drive themselves out of business by selling equipment at a loss to make us happy!

This is pretty much what the s-4 is doing now mining. Based on the s2 being roughly 55% the power per watt of the s-1. the s4 may be under .5 watts or under 1000 watts per 2th. They will mine them night and day right now diff is up 20%. I would guess 1/2 of that 40ph in gear jump is an s-4 farm mining like a mofo 1 x s-4 = 2th 10 x s-4 = 20th 100 x s-4 = 200th 1000 x s-4 = 2 ph 10000 x s-4 = 20ph they have sold 3000 unit batches of s-3's as shown in the btc chain they may have 1,000-10,000 s-4's mining as I type. As it is a dense machine 1000 is not a problem to put In a large building 10000 not sure.

This week? At the moment it is not possible for me to purchase one. Wondering if I have to check bitmaintech every hour during the next few days to see if the shoping frenzy has started. Friendly, Tabasco Raremaster.

yeah but greed is tough and getting 3 eggs from the goose each day instead of 2 eggs is very tempting.
Wondering if they are able to lay 2 eggs a day.

So ... this is post #254 ... and all Bitmain had to do was announce the S4 at post #1 ... lol, so much speculation over those 252 posts.

This week... oops...Just kidding, can't sell because BTC is too low. Exactly. They are waiting to the last minute to post a high price that only people with already established farms would dare to impulse buy. Bitmain, we support your products so please do not screw us out of every cent you can. Post the prices and let people have time to make a decision on the purchase. Greed is not nice

What make's you think greed is a factor here. They have consistently put out product on time at the best price with great power consumption when compared to the competition they dominate for good reason.
I think the best assumption people have come up with is that no one will buy a $1500 rig when btc is so low. An S4 at 4 BTC would prob not roi at least not in a reasonable time and certainly not what we are used to from bitmain. If bitmain is farming with the equipment more power to them. It's their equipment till it's been paid for.
I would like to see what they have though even if it s priced at $1500. I don't think many people would buy but they can always farm away with the unsold units.
I just don't see greed being a primary factor here.

Greed or not, it's been promised to go on sale "this week", which has now ended in most timezones. I don't see a reason why they couldn't have published the price and the specs as promised, and keep adjusting the price daily as they did earlier this year with S1/S2, except maybe the specs are not finalized yet pending some tests. To be honest I don't care much either way - I'm not in a hurry and can make a decision whenever they decide to start selling it - but it's just disappointing to see them not meeting their promise and not explaining why.

To be honest I don't care much either way - I'm not in a hurry and can make a decision whenever they decide to start selling it - but it's just disappointing to see them not meeting their promise and not explaining why. Here is why they can mine them at a profit. they will do so for the next week then on sept 24 or so put them up for sale at 1200 or 1300. Meanwhile each one earned them over 12-14 days at 2th with low power costs. maybe 200 bucks in 2 weeks. If they can afford to hold the 2 weeks worth of cheaply earned coins. And release the s-4 at 1200 vs 1400. our aching hearts will buy them quickly. Price spike in coins so the 200 usd for 2 weeks of mining they did teasing us will jump to 250 maybe more. When they put the s-3 out they did this and goosed (i am liking the goose references) coins up and over 600 usd. They are hoping to cause a coin price spike making miners wait longer to buy this. 1200 usd 950 watts and 2th = sell like a mofo. = btc price spike
