I'm guessing Bitmain literally means before September ends, like literally shipping on the 31st.
My uneducated guess is they're waiting for any BTC price pump up, so they can better profit on the S4 sales, and mitigate shipping costs.
No, they said on twitter and also on their website "THIS WEEK". can you point me to the official twitter feed of bitmain? thanks I think they change the wording on it just now... It did say "This week", now they change it to "before Sept. ends", what's the next date

It's the 23rd of Sept, did I miss something about the price and delivery on the S4 that was supposed to be posted last week? Is anything currently for sale at Bitmain that doesn't include cloud mining? Thanks!

Thinking about it, does anyone have any idea on the ROI if the S4 comes out at $1500? Rumors have been circulating that the ROI numbers would have you running well outside 6 months before a profit can be had and that's only if the difficulty rate stays at an average of 20% a month which, I would now doubt, especially with Bitmain running up another 7PH/s in over 4300 S2 machines that came online. (I can't even imagine seeing 4300 machines in a room just sitting there let alone all hooked up and hashing away!) China Power must have substations sitting on Bitmains roof!!! LOL

There are many calculators to help figure ROI, here is one that should give you a general idea. http://dustcoin.com/mining. Then can sit back and decide if this is something you want to get into as a hobby or for future investment.

I think it is better that they are late taking orders than taking orders early and shipping late like so many other companies.

I agree completely. At least this way your btc isn't tied up in a pre-order.

I wanted to know if anyone, off the top of their head, has done the calculations for the ROI on ONLY the S4 based on rumored price and the crap performance of the coins value over the last month (and of course taking into consideration the difficulty swings). There are too many conflicting stories out there from people that don't have a clue about much else than sitting at home with their three S1's just "burn'n up" the pool they're in and thinking they have all the answers. (I haven't even met people with more than I have with all the answers!)

Too much speculation at this point. The currently low exchange rate and the rapidly increasing network difficulty makes ROI very difficult.

Too much speculation at this point. The currently low exchange rate and the rapidly increasing network difficulty makes ROI very difficult. It technically makes it near impossible if you are paying for power. Especially if the 5-20% difficulty trend increases. A single unit to ROI on its single earnings will possibly never happen. https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculatorPeople will be paying for electricity cost before earning enough profit from mining will have paid off the unit. Of course this does not apply to people applying other earnings and profit from previous units that have already ROI. I'm simply referring to if you buy 1 antminer s3 today, in about 3 months you'll be paying for electricity to run it out of pocket.
