I spent  4 hours  in the 00:55- 0:05  times using an accelerator to push it   about 40 minutes  and 63 rejects  to save the 0.06 btc.  and this is only   2 weeks of mining.

it is nice to earn  1.2 coins in 2 weeks  but the consolidation is stressful

are you consolidating to the same wallet with a new address or do you have a separate wallet you consolidate into?

These are 2 separate wallets.  But within the second wallet I did a  move from  one address to another.

So when I consolidate I do two moves.

first wallet

Addy 1 to
second wallet  Addy 2  a new addy


then in second wallet

Addy 3 to
Addy 2

I spent most of sunday to do it.

the move within wallet 2 was less difficult  as that addy 3 had less tx ids. So I paid 100 sats a byte  also I caught the tx accerator pm my first try.

But does any one have any idea what the heck could of caused one of the ribbon cables going to one of the hash boards on one of my 9s to be all melted and burned?      and does anyone know where to get replacements asap???

Ya that much was obvious lol that it got burned from heat.  But it seems pretty weird for that to of gotten so hot to char the insulation and the plugs on both ends.   all the other ones on all my other miners don't even seem to feel warm when I put my fingers on them. Tho one of the ones on the same miner that the burnt on was on has one more out of the 3 that feels a bit warm but not super hot. But still not ripping hot and just hot compared to the others.   They are also in a pretty cool area and it was not above about 60F this morning.

A good power supply makes a big difference - how are you powering the boards?

That miner is being powered with a set of the HP server psu's and I have had a few problems with the power plugs on that particular board on that miner and no matter what power supply i had on it they would get ripping hot right at the plugs going in to the board. and even changing the plugs on the power supply they would still get so ripping hot they eventually melt them selves in place and the last time it happened I had to  bust off the plug charged connectors on the board and replace them and clean up all the pins so I could finally get a good resistance free connection without them getting hot when running for awhile.      Tho I did happen to notice a tiny bit of a brownish burn on the ribbon cable the last time I had a problem with the power plugs. BUT I had assumed it was just because it was so close to one of the burn plugs that I thought it was just from that and didnt really think about the ribbon cable too much more till today when it was all burned up and melted..

So it does seem related to the burning plug issue.  BUT now im wondering if instead of it being the power plugs causing a prob with the ribbon cable as well.  Im starting to wonder it might of been the other way around and something not right with the ribbon cable from the start causing problems with the power plugs.  Because now with the new ribbon cable in place them power plugs on the board are not even getting all that warm now at the power connectors.   



I just ended up figuring out that I can borrow a replacement off of my s7 and got the s9 going again while I wait for a replacement and it seems to be working and the wire is so far staying cool.  But I'm going to watch it like a hawk all day.

ya im sure I wont be the last either..     I'm picking apart the old ribbon cable and one of the wires that burn all the way threw and shorted to the ones next to it.  I notice each wire in the ribbon only has 6  angel hair thin copper strands in each wire.

ahh sorry about that.  I tried moveing it after you pointed that out. But i cant figure out how. BUT if someone else can move it that would be great or even if it can be deep sixed would be fine to if it takes the clutter out.  Being I sort of got it sorted out atleast for now and back up and hashing again...



So we can get back to the topic and the task at hand of crushing blocks and giving all the hash I can give to the cause. :-)

Well it was an unusal question, re: the actual ribon cable, and a link directly to where to get them, so I'm not fussed about the posts really.

Well if Kano doesn't mind:
The problem is the PSU ground/return connections to the hash board with burnt cable.
In short there is very poor connection at the PCI plugs so the power return for that hash board was now running through the control board and data cables. You mentioned the PCI plugs getting hot - definitely should NOT happen and is a warning flag of something seriously wrong with them, eg, worn out female pins on PSU side of things and possible too-thin wire. The wire not only carries power - it also pulls away heat from the connector pins and if 18ga or thinner things are going to get warm. For general reference, a good rule of thumb to follow is that PCIe pins/plugs are only rated for at best 30 mate/un-mate cycles. Each time some of the plating is removed until there is only brass-to-brass contact leading to hot connectors.

 As far as I know only source for the cables is Bitmain, think parts are under their support tab (?)

Is it worth mining on the pool with 8.5 Th?  1st payout was a whole 25 cents!!  Is mining some other shit coin a better use of my miners.  BTW waiting for power supplies to put another 17 Th on line.  Then it might be worth mining here.

We use those PSUs as well...good bricks, btw...but had a severe issue some time ago with a bad batch of pigtails. They weren't mated to the plug end properly; the connections to the board would char and melt.

It wasn't the miner, or the psu...it was the cable itself. We switched supplier on the cables and haven't had a problem since.
