If you report your bitcoin mining to the IRS, you're a moron.  If there were a TV game show where the smartest people got voted off the island, you would win, hands down.  Jeff Probst would invite you back for Moron Island All Stars.
Everyone has their viewpoint, and yes, as I have mentioned before - the whole concept is that BTC is decentralized and hard to track.  if you use your earnings to buy equipment and other things directly with BTC, the likelihood of being caught is virtually non-existent - yet.  If you ever send your earnings to popular exchanges or into your financial institution as US Dollars, I would expect that reporting is already happening.  I have friends that recently got bit from unreported earnings through paypal in 2015 which was kindof surprising.  "Big Brother" is watching in so many ways (likely these forum posts even).  Anyway, my wife has said that crypto is more like gambling - and ignoring your tax liability is just another form of it - whether it be virtual currency or that side job.  I just feel that the odds of winning that battle are far worse than going to a casino in the long term.

But all this said, everyone must come to their own conclusions!  And as far as being stupid, you are 100% right because the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.  And besides, I have always felt that an island getaway should be stress-free rather than full of drama.....

I'm so glad I left this dead pool.  Other bitcoin pools have paid out twice as much for at least the last two months.  And now, mining bitcoin cash on Antpool pays (in dollars) 2.5 times what mining bitcoin pays.  Easily converted to bitcoin after you mine the crazy bitcoin cash.  Who hates having Mo money, mo money, mo money?  Cool

Thanks for the three blocks the past two days!   Smiley

I believe this brings our BTC per day per TH to 0.00021501, 36% over last month.  Pretty awesome considering our size is less than 25% what we were last month.  Even if we had no other blocks for the rest of the month, we will still be 13% better than last month.  Mine on and thanks to Kano and the rest of the Kano family!

Yeah I don't think math or facts are his strong points Tongue

Edit: yeah I delete his posts, since everyone can still see them.
Though it's clearly beyond his understanding to be able to read and see them ...

Edit2: deleting posts has nothing to do with keeping miners here or having them leave.
Most of the miners here are smart enough to make their own choices regarding that, some leave and others stay, that's how it is.
As for his posts, they're just trolling so of course I delete them to make it clear that we all know he's a troll Tongue

Edit3: RonaldSmall please learn to read ... specifically what the forum message tells you for each of your many posts I've deleted ... go post your trolling somewhere else.

Thanks, I am going to take your advice. I sent an email to them to see if they would hold the $$$ in a smart contract, meaning if they didn't deliver, they wouldn't get the money..... I got crickets back from them. They may be legit, but I am think maybe not. Wait and see......
Here is a link to a discussion on these.  Seems like there are people believing its real and others that do not.  Go figure.

Well...it looks an awful lot like a modified S7, and with three boards rather than two, that might account for the hash increase even without a "new" chip. I'm kinda with others on this...the video doesn't do anything to alleviate my good ol' PTSD paranoia. I'm not convinced.

AND...the phrase that completely turned me off..."make sha256 great again..."

If they're trying to be funny...it isn't. If they're trying to suck up to folks who actually buy into that, it still isn't funny, and makes sure I won't buy from them. At USD $1,600, I don't have to think long.

I still like Avalon, despite their growing pains, etc.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

I like the largish payment, but still have a lingering question.
I know about the randomness argument, etc, but can anybody calculate the odds of it all (getting more blocks with at least five times less hashing power)? Maybe some statistician can provide an answer. I hope that organofcorti peruses this thread sometimes.
The whole debacle ensued when we were not getting blocks for a few days with 5-10 times more mining "power".

Per aspera ad astra.

Mine on.

EDIT: with 45wk luck at 101% and payout at 114%, there is nothing really to complain about for longer term miners, quite the opposite, but I just want our tribe at kano to be growing bigger, hopefully.

Super smart option.  So can you do smart contracts with BTC or is it just Ethereum?
We can't do it yet with BTC, Charlie Lee is using LTC as the test bed for BTC though. I suspect we will be able to do it within 3 years or so. You can do smart contracts with Etherium now however they are not mainstream yet and are a little painful to write. I really don't like ETH at all, I look at that whole chain as a scam because it is run by Vitalik. I am a Bitcoin and Litecoin kind of person but I would have bought some ETH to do a smart contract if they had responded and were willing to accept my terms. Mine On, my 4 S9's are due to ship very soon and I look forward to adding them to KANO's great pool. Great community here with Kano.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Don't forget that Charlie started LTC as a scam also Tongue

He mined GPU for something like a year while he convinced everyone else it wasn't possible so they'd mine CPU ...

Yes I made comment about it when he started LTC about how GPU should be possible (my posts are still there) but everyone bought into Charlie's scam and the rest was history until the truth finally came out Tongue

He a scammer just like many others you'll find in the crypto world ...

Great info, it appears the Crypto world is full of scammers. That is why I am a huge BTC fan, but I must confess, I used LTC to pay for the hardware and power supplies for my BTC miners. The fees were very low and I didn't want to part with my Bitcoin.. LOL. Thanks for the info Kano. Mine On and thanks for a great pool.

The demo clip is not convincing. There no real correlation between the unit and the software.

Well there are some big names in btc mineing who have posted on that cos twitter account about how they have seen these miners running and were in specs..  and slush pool also said last night that even tho its not an endorsement by them. They admitted to the people who noticed that some of the cos demo video was shot in there offices. and that they are excited to see something like the dragon miner with its open source software and hardware coming to the market to help decentralize mining out of the hands of just a few who dominate the market.

So its starting to look more and more like they are a real co that is going to be shipping a real product.  Only thing is they are still using words like "should" be shipping there first big batch sometime around march..    So its hard to know what should means exactly..

Being a new product and their first batch I don't blame for using words like should. As with any new business or products, hiccups wouldn't surprise me.

Edit. Some very respected names in the crypto community have seen the DragonMint in use and verify its authenticity.

I for one am going to stay away from those Dragon Mint miners for now. I've seen people talking them up but it still scares me. The fact that even one person is coming forward saying Halong Mining is misrepresenting them is reason enough for me to stay away (If you do your homework there several other reasons too).
There are safe/sure alternatives.

Oh and you have to spend $8550 USD + shipping and wait for months just to see if you are getting scammed. I have a day job and can't gamble but I am hoping they are legit. If its a scam its pretty elaborate.

Edit: The $8550 number is with their power supply.

Just added a second S7LN to Kano Pool once I saw that bitcoin is FREAKING OVER 9K!!!!!
Now I just got to find a place to add my third S7LN. This is just crazy good.
I retired the S7s when it got hot last spring. Well, its not hot now, and bitcoin profits will
easily pay for the higher electric bill.
