Guys I have a question and if someone knows the answer please let me know.   I’ve had some btc in Coinbase for a long time now, before the btc gold spit.  They have told all of the users that they will give the same amount in btc gold as the amount of the btc that the user had before the split but at the same tim they are saying that they can not support it at the moment because of some code that wasn’t released to public or some other issue, I’m not sure because I don’t know much about it.  Well what I want to know is that if I sell the btc right now will I still get the btc gold when and if they support it in the near future?

Thanks!  Wink
There was no fork, it was cancelled.
It think you are thinking of Segwit2x fork that was cancelled. Bitcoin Gold is actively trading now on the exchanges. Bitfinex had it for $162.50/usd as I typed this

I thought gold happened, just had no code right away. The little bit I know about forks with bitcoin cash is that they only look at activity before the fork so selling it would not make a difference with the bitcoin qt app. Obviously coinbase can make whatever rules they want, so be careful if you can't find a document to hold them to it.

So true I am amazed at the number of forks. Impossible to keep track of our all easily. Thank goodness for a committed group like the kano miners.

A Barbie has been decapitated for the next block.
Assuming Lady Luck accepts pre-orders, I did my bit for Karma 2 months ago when I donated 22x retired s7's to Sidehack to work his majik on and then sell through asicpuppy @ the damn good price of $499 (all sold out now of course). I don't resell as part of the proverbial ROI exit plan - I donate my retired miners for that Fuzzy Warm feeling Wink A lot of Sidehacks 2PAC stick miners use harvested S5 chips from my farm.

Come on gal! Get more slaves interns to plow through your Good Deeds list!
I'm running two of your old S7s now - they're working great, and pointed to Kano of course.
cool and glad to hear it.
Ja I was seeing them pop up here while Sidehack was tweaking them and another showed up briefly 4hrs ago. Overall good machines and if I had the power budget I'd probably still have them. Now only 1 left, hacked to silence and sitting in our inspection area at work.

Glad they found new homes and all proceeds went to a good cause so win-win and Fuzzies for all

as a noob i never quite understood how a mining pool works
1. does a  pool act as ONE big mining machine (ie a 25PH miner)?
2. or are we just sharing the rewards of the block found by ONE lucky member of the pool?

Hey guys,

New miner here, I have 3 S9 (14TH each) mining on Slushpool but recently i stumble upon KanoPool.

Please if you are experienced in this, would you suggest me to continue mining on Slushpool? Or Would you recommend me to switch over to KanoPool?  :-)

Thanks! Looking forward to learn from y'all and hopefully one day, able to contribute hehe.

I'm 41.5 TH as well, he can come back!

She is talking about Flowers and Chocolate.  Smiley. I would gladly send you some just Being and us having a  female in this pool!  Kiss Or are you a female?  Cheesy
PM me, Schnooky...most of the older folks here know me, but I'll say hi on a PM. But yes, I am.

Kano,

I just did a comparison with Block Trail and what the Pool Website says it is mining on. This is what I found. Does it mean anything?

Last    Block
Pool:     42h 56m (494458)
Network:     7m 46s (494736)

Height    494736
Block Time    Friday, November 17th 2017, 1:18:50 -05:00
Arrival Time    Friday, November 17th 2017, 1:19:10 -05:00
Size    972.6 kB
Difficulty    1364422081125.00000000
Version    v20000000
TXs    3,062
Total Value    20,811.71818885 BTC
Confirmations    1
Mined By    BTC.TOP
Coinbase Size Vote

It seems strange that the Pool would still show it trying to mine a block that has already been found.

Kano,

It looks to be happening again. F2Pool just found 494737, but the Website is showing the Pool still trying to crack it. Is it latency/lag or does it really matter? Just wondering.

Thanks!!

Is your question "What does 'Block Time' mean?" ?

It's whatever time is in the hashed block header, which has only close association to the current time - but can be before or even 1.5 hours after the current time.

The pool changed work for 494737 at 6:29:21.534+00

The DB sees the block change pretty much immediately, and thus requests are up to date on the web site also.
If you have some proxy in front of you (that you may not even know it's there if it's a typical ISP transparent proxy) or a VPN proxy, then that may be delaying you getting up to the second data.

I wonder if he means the website at the top in the center column where it shows our last block then under it is the last network block. Maybe he is mistaking it to mean the current block the pool is working on.

Hi,

I cannot trace having recieved my last payout from the pool on the 15th , probably an issue my end is there a way to track it please?
The last transaction has been sent out, but not confirmed.
Bitcoin transactions have 2 steps:
1) Create a transaction and relay it onto the Bitcoin network
2) A miner confirm the transaction into a block

Step 2) can be slow or fast depending on the general network mempool size (transaction backlog) and the fee included in the transaction

In our case I only put a (very) low fee (42,000 sat) so it will be confirmed if the network isn't busy.
However, since we're a pool I can also ensure it's in the next block we find after I send it out.
So in the case of 494458 it will prolly not confirm until we find another block even though 494405 did.

The side effect is that no one has to pay fees for the payout transactions.

Seems like overcon can’t keep up with the latest news!   Cheesy.  Yes I meant the gold fork and not the Segwit2x.  By they way I’ve received an email from Coinbase like 5 hours ago saying this!

Bitcoin Segwit2x Update

Dear Coinbase customer,

There have been a number of developments with Bitcoin Segwit2x since our last update. No action is required and all funds stored on Coinbase remain safe.

Last week, the Segwit2x development team announced they would no longer continue with the project. In addition, a significant portion of miners and other community leaders withdrew their support for the fork. However, despite these developments, a small number of miners may attempt to go forward with a fork.

We wanted to provide clarity about the potential outcomes of the fork and what Coinbase will do in each scenario.

To protect customer funds, Coinbase will disable Bitcoin sends and receives at 2 am Pacific Time on November 17th, and disable buys and sells an hour before the fork, which is currently predicted to occur between 6am to 8am Pacific Time on November 17th. All functionality will be re-enabled shortly afterwards.

Scenario 1: Network is unusable
If support for the fork remains at current levels or decreases, the Bitcoin2x network will be unusable. Coinbase will not support withdrawals or trading as it will not be possible to move these assets. Currently we believe this is the most likely scenario.

If the network gains support at a later date, we will enable Bitcoin2x withdrawals from the platform.

Scenario 2: Network is usable
If transactions are being confirmed at a reasonable speed and miner support is strong, we will allow Coinbase customers to withdraw Bitcoin2x. We will not immediately enable buys and sells as previously stated, but we may enable them at a later date.

We will keep customers updated through our blog.

So the Segwit2x might still activate tomorrow!  Smiley
