Just looked at BTC.com and found next difficult level will be increased by 18% in 6 hours. Does it mean the BTC price will go up another 18% Smiley

Just a question I havent been able to wrap my head around quite yet:

If I have been mining at kano from 11.dec until now, will the shifts I produced before this diff increase, get paid according to the diff when they were produced, or with the new diff?

Cheers

The 5Nd used to determine the reward, is the 5Nd when the block is found.

Thus yes any shares in the previous 2 weeks (previous diff change), that get rewarded after a diff change, effectively get devalued when diff increases (... it usually does)

This becomes a major issue (major loss) when mining in a small pool that doesn't reward a few times every diff change.
Hopefully we wont end up that small also Sad

It is a bit bazaar that people mining elsewhere want higher fees though Tongue
The reason we have higher variance here is coz people prefer to pay higher fees elsewhere.
Oh well, them's the breaks.

Damn, this is bad for business! Tongue Means the work I put in from 10.dec gets ~18% less reward because we havent found a block since then? Thats about 600$ for me, if Im not mistaken!
Well your reward per block is your ratio of the 5Nd before the block, so it's not like you get less per block.
The higher diff means we expect less blocks per hash rate - I guess we'll see what happens with luck ... Smiley

Rut Roh, 4 minutes and no shares submitted to the pool. Looks like KANO Pool, it isn't my miners.

Pool working fine - mining all OK - but the web server is getting DDoSed again - a lot harder than the other day.

Edit: ... and KanoDB crashed and is restarting.

Again, mining is all OK.

Edit2: ... and the KanoDB restart completed - at 15:14 UTC

Lets find a block while we are being DDOS'd. They think they are taking down the hashrate.

Time to bring in some rented hash?

Another bottle of medio litro Mexican coke was sacrificed for the good or the order, and this block.

Hi! I have a quick question, I'm mining here without registration (using my wallet's address as an username). Now I want to register to have a full access to the pool, will I loose all shares and statistics on a new account and start again? Or I can register somehow and transfer shares to the account to keep everything already mined? Thanks!

Unless I didn't understand correctly. I thought rented hash was no good for some reason?  Think I remember Kano asking people not to point rented hash here...  or maybe that was during a particular issue he was debugging.

Yes I blocked NiceHash.
NiceHash is now gone never to be seen again, so that solved that issue anyway Tongue

I did check MRR the other day, but their rental prices are so high no one in their right mind would use them.

... and the DDoS is still ongoing in case anyone was wondering.
You'll find web logins are disabled on and off randomly.
Mining is totally unaffected.

You can't transfer the address mining stats to an account.

Wowzers...got busy yesterday and found like four pages of postings here when I got back...

I think I've only got one comment...I've been mining for eight years. I've been to the top of the heap and (thanks to Mt. Gox) the bottom. I've mined Antpoo, Slush, and others for enough time to actually gather realistic numbers. I'm here, and I've been here for over a year. I just paid my hosting bill for Labrador, and have coin left. One block, at today's rates, makes a month's hosting charge for all machines. If one is mining BTC because you actually need it to pay your basic bills, you're barking up the wrong tree and will probably lose your sanity just after your bank balance.

I'm a small miner by the pool's standards, but an equal in its operation, enjoying a transparency proven by experience. That is not the norm for mining pools. If you can't accept the inherent value in that principle, or get tweaked over every variance (ie., luck) episode, then you shouldn't be mining.

You'd do better with trying to card count at the Blackjack table.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)
