Maybe it is my fault for mentioning the factorization idea over insecure channel. TacoTime it is your fault too for enticing me to respond technically. Rpietila said all technical communication would go through smooth over the secure channel.

Maybe we have forced BCX's hand, because someone else could figure out the exploit from what I've stated publicly. I dunno.

I don't see how it could be your fault (or really anybody's).  Dude's just doing what he's doing.

Correct you don't see. I now know what is going on. But I have to be very careful what I say publicly or it will get worse.

Meanwhile I am trying to help fix and characterize the problem better, if the CN devs don't get stingy in this moment of crisis!

Well, I may just fire up some XMR miners this weekend.
Just to make it cost BCX a bit more to try this.
So long as he doesn't go off early, this can make it more expensive.
He's not the only one that can light up a datacenter.

No he most certainly isn't.

Can one of the devs post a donation monero address for a special cause ? I would like to donate to someone who wants to buy mining power to strenghten the network to make a possible attack more difficult. I don't have much but fuck it, i am willing to donate to a good cause. Let's fight back as a community.

I, too, want to donate in this time of need.  Is the Hall of Fame address appropriate?

Hey CoinHumper,

I would much rather be a smart, competent, and generally good _tradesman_career_here_  than a stupid, shitty, half-assed one.  Sometimes new blood and new guys are better than the old washed-up types.

I have been around long enough in life, experience, technology, the internet, and even in crypto to have seen a few things. I am confident that I can tell my ass from the proverbial....

Everyone keeps kissing BCX ass about all these coins he has supposedly killed. I looked into his historical posts about a week ago, after all the hype. All I saw was bickering and bantering of all flavors and varieties.

Fuck BCX and his lame ultimatum. And fuck you, CoinHumper and TFM.

Put up or shut the fuck up.

Is this 'exploit' MONERO specific or true/if true for all CN coins ??

Triff ..

I made a public AMI that you use on amazon world services with compiled cpu and gpu miners. Some more info here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=653467.msg8702934#msg8702934

You get around 500 h/s per instance. I think you can mess with gpu .sh file to get around 300 h/s, I think the way I posted it gets more like 250 h/s.

Best FUD bomb I've seen since I'm in crypto. This guy is truly evil.

Totally.  Announcing all this in the trollbox is highly suspicious.

He did do this back in 2012 to Litecoin in BTC-e trollbox and then renegged on his "attack" claiming it was just a joke and to strengthen LTC.

We will see if he is right or wrong soon enough.

One thing is for sure....BCX still has his massive ego and needs people to know he can do what he claims.

I remember that.  Good times!  The stuff of legend.   Cheesy

Monero is no AuroraCoin.  We will soon see if it's the next Litecoin.  BCX can read the writing on the wall better than most.  He's just a little late to the Monero party, where all the cool kids are.

Thanks for the cheap notes BCX.  You're the best!   Cool

BitcoinEXpress: What is the reason for not disclosing your findings to monero devs? From what I understand you are not looking to sell anything. Why keep it to yourself?

He is waiting if the great "Bitcoin" team can find it too because they always tell how awesome they are and every other coins are shit.

+1 on that, ha-ha, thank-you for the laugh. it has been a long day.

BitcoinExpress has disgraced everyone here. It's extremely sad, and I no longer view him as someone with any credibility given his despicable attitude as of late.

The trolls have won their victory over BitcoinExpress.
