Just one problem with your theory. The Monero devs, Anonymint and even rpietila have acknowledged bcx exploit is real and they are working on fixing it.

Citation needed.

You can dig the others up on your own.

Reduction of anonymity set is confirmed in BCX's exploit, so please stop bagging on BCX. He appears to be legit. I am working with smooth now on mitigation and also whether wallets can be stolen or not. That is a key question.

Appears the CN devs were already aware of some of what I pointed out, but I may have a key insight. Still trying to determine this.

Am busy right now on this. So be patient.
oooooh, Anonymint says it is true may be true so it must be true!  Shocked

It didn't happen. TheFascistMind reported that he had an idea that would result in a reduction of anonymity (similar to one we have already disclosed). He has a number of other ideas and we are looking into them.

No one has acknowledged that any specific BCX exploit is real because we don't even necessarily know what it is. We know of some things that could possibly lead to exploits. Not the same thing at all.

Lol, here he strikes again.

BCX is the guy who made all that fud with KGW coins, claiming an exploit he was never able to demonstrate.

This is an entertainment thread, more close to FUD than Fact.

you're idiots if you're selling your XMR... BITCOINEXPRESS IS BUYING WHAT YOU DUMP

don't you get it, weak hands? there is no exploit...

Oh, there is an exploit, but you may be partially correct. DooMAD is totally correct.

Pretty sure the only exploit here is people's willingness to panic sell based on a few forum posts and a message in a trollbox.   Roll Eyes

Just one problem with your theory. The Monero devs, Anonymint and even rpietila have acknowledged bcx exploit is real and they are working on fixing it. My theory is bcx proved it to them and then did not pass on the fix.

Anonymint makes a mountain out of every molehill going.  I can't take him seriously at all.  He's poured fuel on the fire based on nothing more than a vague hunch before he's even taken a close look at it to see if there is actually a problem.  Bunch of people crying wolf over nothing.

I darkly remember that he spoke about an exploit in july as well - do you know if it is the same stuff he is talking about right now?

We absolutely have NOT said that. We know virtually  NONE of the details of the claimed exploit.

So far all that third-parties have produced is a rehash of the research done and released as part of MRL-0001, which can be found here: http://lab.monero.cc/pubs/MRL-0001.pdf

What's the point to announce a deadline if he's not asking for anything?

I probably did the wrong thing and should have only announced my discovery to the developers, so it could be vetted privately first. But my first reaction was how to short because if a coin killer I could earn a lot more. As I realized there is probably mitigation and also as I realized that to short I would be borrowing from the longs who are deep pocketed, that I couldn't win a shorting battle unless it was a fight to the finish and I have no desire to fight with my friend Risto nor the other developers I would like to work with in the future.

So the wisest action is to sell my insight to them if I am correct. Let them work on mitigation.

Wow, what a load of horse shit this is.

First you decide not to short because you realise you'll be profiting from a friends loss, you then decide a better course of action would be to extort the devs, while announcing to the public you have an exploit...and you know full well what that will lead to a dump...which in turn will also result in a friends loss...but hey, they can deal with that right?... you're the good guy in all this right?

So much for being an upstanding member of this community...dick.

On the flipside, if he can help prevent the attack, it certainly will (already has) taken a bunch of his time--for which he is probably right to seek some kind of compensation.

So if you guys are so sure that it is all FUD, why then did rpietila decline to accept bcx 500 BTC challenge? Seems like an easy 500 BTC to me.

It's an asymmetrical information proposition.  Why would anybody risk $200K on that?  I'm sure he's got plenty riding on the outcome as it is.

A agree completely and have no problem with him getting compensation, my problem is with the way he's gone about it.

Risto not taking the bet doesn't prove anything.

If I email Warren Buffet and say that I put $200,000 on Berkshire-Hathaway closing below $140 a share at the closing bell on Monday, will he take my bet?

And he doesn't take the bet, does that mean anything?

No, it means he doesn't feel like messing with such a trivial little quibble of a wager, as he has better things to do and bigger fish to fry.

More like it is because rpietila has more faith in bcx proven history than than his devs.

so y'all promonero guys are assuming that BCX's 500 BTC bet is false? and that Moneroman88 didn't actually goad BCX into wanting to find an exploit in Monero?

it seems like thats what happened to me. funny how all the other moderated monero threads are silent on this whole affair.

thats because you are Moneroman88

I hate to be potentially feeding a troll, but if there were 500 BTC in escrow, where's the evidence of this?

Is it confirmed that FascistMint is helping the monero developers, or is he needing payment first? I'm confused
