new roadmap is looking great! trying to make sure the API remains the priority for the network while still fixing bugs and adding partnership opportunities. devs are working hard on the next release which I think is going to be the first release since update notifications were added to the GUI wallet, so that will be fun to test out  Cool
and soon the gitlab will be open for community devs to get involved with the core dev team, learning about the process and getting involved, getting shown how to get paid for their work, either through bounties or through proposals. I think this is going to be great for the network as more devs in the community get their hands on the code and start to understand it, and help build it into a platform for blockchain businesses of the future!

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Now the general crypto volume is very low. Until 'the bulls come', we will not see any mayor volume increase. We just have to wait.
The team looks like they are working hard.

Status of PoS switch

Hello Crown Community, the core team would like to inform you about the current status of the switch from our Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanisms. As you have been previously informed, the main reasoning behind this switch is that PoS provides increased network stability and security for our protocol. It is also our first and key step towards our ultimate goal: Crown’s unique replacement for PoS and PoW, the Crown Consensus Mechanism (CCM).

In light of this proposed switch you have all made the brave decision to make this change to our network as the proposal passed in our last superblock. This change to a Crown tailored Proof-of-Stake based protocol will have tremendous benefits for our platform once completed.

Now we must fund its development and will be bringing on developers who have successfully completed this process several times in the past and as such have extremely unique skillsets. Our own developers are taking on our API and other platform related features, so this experience comes with a cost that we will have to bear as a community to progress forward.

Our current PoS-switch funding situation is as follows:

BTC Address: 1LitBBx2Mmgiaeyd8S61sV3S2kcDnkEjX  — 1 BTC

CRW Address: 17ny5Enj9q8vZ1Jt4HE4jf64GR6RGyvHj6 — 37,312CRW

We have managed to raise around 50% of the $100k as the current state of the crypto markets’ price situation is not helping our cause. The funding that has been raised is coming from several team members and other close Crown partners.

From here we are asking you all to contribute to the above addresses to help us push forward with this move. The cost for this switch is $100k USD. This move will increase your node rewards, protect your network, and put us in a place where we be able to scale our network. The next step is down to you!

For questions or to discuss this move further, feel free to join us on our Mattermost (mm.crownlab.eu) or Telegram (https://t.me/crownplatform).

Thank you for your trust and support of our community project

In my opinion, The value of any of these crypto networks is as a sort of open cloud.  the token is simply the coordination mechanism.

Good to see so much money has been raised already! With the current prices the goal could also be met by just waiting for the next boom in crypto prices. Smiley

interesting point! I think that the value comes from the business that occurs on the network plus the shared vision of the network participants  Grin tell me more about your open cloud philosophy?

Crown Core Team goes public with repositories and workflow

The Core Team is very focused on developing the Crown Platform. Currently the workflow and code that is written is stored on a private GitLab repository, and final versions are pushed to public GitHub repositories.

This setup using Gitlab started in November 2017 to customize our development processes, the focus of DevOps and continuous integration, and creation of an ecosystem for the future of the Crown software contribution.

Gitlab provides a variety of instruments for effective collaboration and it’s a community-driven project as Crown is, so we have a philosophy in common. The latest events with Microsoft buying Github have only ensured our choices.

However, as a community-driven project, we feel that this current approach can be improved. That is why from now on we are opening public access to the GitLab repositories and development workflow — for the community to watch the progress and have an opportunity to contribute.

These are the changes:

All projects are now available at https://gitlab.crown.tech/public and accessible without prior registration.

All repositories are still mirrored from Gitlab to Github and there are no plans to change this. This means https://github.com/Crowndev/ will always be up to date, but we are not dependent on Github.

To contribute, one can additionally register on the main Crown Gitlab page https://gitlab.crown.tech.

Join us on this exciting journey!

Sincerely, Crown Development Team

Yeah... I have been assuming most of the $100k went to the eventual switch to the "third way".

Is this incorrect?

Using the 100k to actually create things and ways to use CRW would be more of a stable choice.
Unlimited hard forks= unstable

Yes correct whoever they are asking to do that must have keyboard made of gold that needs replacement.

I think the reasoning for spending 100grand is as follows:
- Developing this in-house is possible, however would require all dev resources to be spent on that switch. Meaning the API and other improvements have to wait.
- Developing this in-house also means running into bugs and unforeseen conflicts, delaying it.
- The transition from PoW to PoS has been made a couple of times. So there are people who are experienced with this.

The problem is that it's a handful (max) of people who have done it and can do it. So applying supply and demand logic, this skillset is _very_ valuable.

So what to do then?
Do it yourself, and delay the development / core business, do nothing - or hire a golden keyboard?

5.000.000 CRW said hire the golden keyboard.
