yes, you are right.
I tried out now 835mV and 250Mhz, running without errors, stable at ~62.5
I do not know how long, running in this configuration since yesterday 3:24pm. I do not notice thermal problems, air from the fan is not hot, even not warm and the psu is just warm.
Let's wait and see.
Other question:
Somebody remarked that in this thread are recommendations ot Atx-type psu to replace the U3 one. Can somebody repeat that ?
Couldn't just find it on the 30 pages ))))))

Because the U3s requirements are essentially nothing, you'll want to look at a power supply you may have a use for in the future (other miners), as an investment. It would be wasteful to get something small and tiny for the U3 and later find out you can't do anything with it. The most recommended single PSU for mining is the Corsair CX750M.

It'd be a hell of a lot more, surely?

Hi!
I have received my U3 yesterday.
Unfortunatly the U3 will not work.
1. Plug in Power 2. Plug in USB 3. Device is recognized and installs CP2102 Driver
Starting cgminer --benchmark ( Ver. 0.4.9.1 ) No Device found Starting cgminer --benchmark ( Ver. 0.4.6.1 from bitmain HP) No Device found
Replacing U3 with a R-Box or New RBox and there are no problems, cgminer is hashing
Is my Bitmain U3 DOA?

Use Zadig to replace the driver with WinUSB driver. Don't expect much reliability from the U3, but you should at least be able to get it to work for a little while.

Quick status around our "clean it up" testing etc.
Been running the two (out of 3) semi working u3s for a while. Both cleaned up neatly, applied non conductive paste, Noctua NT-H1. One of them has a new psu, Chieftec AC Power Adapter CDP-090ITX 90W.
Unable to have any consistent data on the psu effect on performance here. Units are very much ureliable, needs to be reset at least once a day. Clean up doesnt seem to have affected reliability. Getting better performance with cgminer from bitmain, but the latest version with changed parameters compared to the last 2014 version seems to be slower. Hopefully more stable... Both units running open, no cover, and with extra cooling surfaces attached to the heatsink.

Thanks, testing one at a time alone now, believe it's one of them causing the most issues, so might send that back.
But just to be clear, i love the concept of these little units you guys made, how very well they fit with the need of a hobbyist miner. Silent, small and wife friendly:) High hopes of the next generation of them, hoping we can get some experience shared here from someone testing the new ones.

Follow the instructions /vp1Yad]here, you haven't Zadig'ed yet. I think nobody has read my post carefully. Rockminer R-Box / New-RBox and a Antminer U2 are using the same driver and are running without problems. 1. Power up Antminer U3 2. Connecting USB to Antminer U3 3. CP2102 USB to .... show up in Device-Manager 4. starting cgminer 0.4.9.1 with --benchmark parameter 5. No Device detected / Waiting for USB hotplug device or press q to quit / Pool 0 not ..... 6. waiting 3 minutes > nothing 7. Plug Rockminer New R-Box into USB and after a few seconds the New R-Box will beginn to hash Antminer U3 DOA or what is my mistake? THX!

WTF? I have reinstalled the WinUSB Driver V6.1.7600.16385 with Zdiag Version 2.1.1 Build 674! Months before this i have installed and used WinUSB Driver from Zdiag Version 2.1.0 for my Antminer U2 and the Rockminer RBoxes!!! The Antminer U2 and the Rockminer are using the WinUSB Driver V6.1.7600.16385 without problems!!! If i plug in the USB from Antminer U3 my Windows 7 64bit will install the same WinUSB Driver as for my Antminer U2 or Rockminer Rboxes. Antminer U2 / Rockminer R-Box and Antminer U3 are using the same WinUSB Driver. DO NOT TELL ME ANOTHER TIME I HAVE TO INSTALL WinUSB Driver!!! The Driver is installed and working fine with my other Miners! Cgminer 0.4.9.1 don't recognize the Antminer U3.

Just because the WinUSB driver is installed and working for other devices does not mean that you have changed the driver for the U3. In Zadig, look at all of the CP2102 entries and verify the driver that each one is using.

No need to get worked up about this, it's actually a quite common error and myself i experience several times that i need to reinstall the winusb driver with zadig for the exact same u3 on the same port as i first installed it. Just check it at least... cgminer have had native support working from 4.8, with a few new parameters specifically for it in 4.9. That part been working fine here both with the precompiled windows bin and my own compiling on ubuntu.

Are (some of) these problems peculiar to Windows ? Would people be better off purchasing the new Raspberry Pi 2 (quadcore Arm 7 + 1GB memory)

Driver WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) --> Driver WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) Reinstall Driver I HAVE REINSTALLED THE DRIVER!!! cgminer 4.9.1 --benchmark still No devices detected! EAT THIS!
