Are (some of) these problems peculiar to Windows ? Would people be better off purchasing the new Raspberry Pi 2 (quadcore Arm 7 + 1GB memory)
Yes and no. Windows drivers can always be annoying but generally once its working it should just continue to work. The same could be said on another platform. These have also been tested significantly more on Windows so we tend to know what will go wrong.

My Laptop has 3 USB Ports.
No other Miner connected!!! I have tried other Computers!!! ( Driver shows up, cgminer: no devices detected ) ( i'm wiriting this just because you think i'm stupid and do all wrong )
Even on Ports where the U3 never was connected zdiag 2.1.1 shows:
cp2102 USB to ....
Driver WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) --> Driver WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385)
Reinstall Driver
I HAVE REINSTALLED THE DRIVER!!!
cgminer 4.9.1 --benchmark still No devices detected!
Do you get the same in non benchmark mode? Mine does work on 20150103 or 20141222 in benchmark, yet does on both normally. Its possible its because --benchmark doesn't *appear* to use the same "prod it to make sure its a U3" on startup.

I have tried cgminer with this string:
cgminer.exe -o stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u dogie_U3 -p 123
result: No devices detected!
Same problem with the new U3 i got.
No one of my two purchased U3 was sealed originaly with the round adhesive dot. I can see remains of this Dot ( adhesive on the first Box and a half Dot on the second Box). To seal the box for the new buyer they have used a narrow adhesive tape. So i'm not the only one with this U3 problem. Probably the U3 i've got from Amazon.de have done at least two rounds (Amazon > purchaser > Amazon > purchaser > now from me back to Amazon).
General problem with the U3 or just my problem becaue got no originaly sealed unit?

Its a hard one as it could be the unit or it could be generic environment problems that don't makse sense. And you won't really know this unless you repeat the procedure on another PC. Either way though, if you've purchased from a reseller then send it back.

Ckolivas does most testing on linux(his windows builds are cross compiles).

Meant more along the lines of the testing during driver development. Sure linux is my primary platform for development so it's always going to work better, but saying I don't even test on windows is a bit rich.

I someone can help me to get my U3 functionnal on minepeon
I'm newbie on Linux... Cgminer don't reconize the U3
Thanks for help.
Which version of cgminer are you running, 'official' or Bitmain's? Cgminer 4.0.1 on minepeon, not bitmain version on linux... just for Windows.

Just got a U3, my first piece of ASIC gear. Installed and configured it correctly w/driver and zadig. Downloaded latest cgminer (4.9.1), ran cgminer with the following: cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u MYADDRESS.0 -p xx3
No Devices Detected!
Any suggestions? Thank you.

Did the zadig process run correctly? And don't forget to give power to your miner. FAQ and Technical SupportSetup requirements:- Requires power via included AC/DC adapter. You will need to purchase a power cable for the AC/DC adapter.
- External controller [PC, Pi]
- USB cable is included
Dogie's comprehensive setup guide now up in super HD!ConfigurationWiring: - Plug in the USB cable from the U3 to your computer.
- Plug in the power supply into the mains.
- Plug in power supply into the U3.
Configuration: - Download the latest version of CGMiner and Zadig.
- Extract, and run the zadig application.
- Select "CP21202 USB to UART Bridge Controller" and then click "Replace Driver". You only have to do this once per computer.
- Create a new file in notepad and enter pool information as below. Save it as a .bat in the same folder as CGMiner.
- Run the bat file to start mining.

Hello and thank you for the reply. Yes, everything was configured and setup correctly, my problem was two-fold: 1. cgminer 4.9.1 will not recognize the U3 no matter what, but v4.9.0 does just fine. 2. I restrict outgoing traffic thru my firewall and had to open the proper port to allow my machine to talk to the pool it was trying to connect with. I am happy to report that I am now mining!

Stable after ~16 hours mining with stock config, 54.8gh. Although looking through this entire thread for the first time I wished I looked at the factory psu before I left for work, I hope it doesn't melt while I'm out. Looking to wire it to my comp psu and adjust volt/freq to get over 60gh. Fun product, perfect for a first time miner like myself who just wanted something to mess around with. Go go magic lottery hash!

With respect to all the previous ZOMBIE reports, my unit would zombie with the usb cable it came with, but with one of my higher quality ones I haven't had any problems.

It looks to me like Minera only runs on Linux, is that correct?
I ordered two more of these little UFOs to put on my desk, they're pretty fun little miners!

In the last 16 hours I have encountered the situation presented below twice. Hash drops down to 10-20gh and the error message keeps popping up. Both times I caught this happening I was able to correct it by simply unplugging the usb cable and plugging it right back in. Any idea what is causing this? Using cgminer.
