Thank you, hurricandave. Had a hunch my problem was an incorrectly installed driver. Did an uninstall of drivers for a clean start. Installed the latest CP210X and then latest Zadig. Kept messing around with the Zadig options until the driver details more-or-less matched those posted above. First time I ran CGMiner 4.9.0 it recognized the unit as "AU3 0" and has been hashing away at 56+GH for nearly 24 hours now using USB cord that came with the U3. It's running so cool with the 225MHz-750mV defaults I'll probably leave it just like that. Thanks again to all who responded.

I've got 5 more of these coming. Low hash power rigs seem to be popular on the rental site as mine has gotten three 100+ hour rentals in a row, so going to add a few to the catalog.

I think need to RMA one of my U3s, it has stopped hashing all together.  I came home from work yesterday and it was zombie (which is nothing new) but this time nothing I can do will get it to work again.  I've zadig and restarted several times, plugged and unplugged, but when you plug the USB in the one red power led comes on, then the hashing red led flashes a few times and that's it, the hashing led never goes solid.  cgminer does not ever recognize it being plugged in (but it does give an error when I unplug it).

If you didn't buy it from Bitmain you need to RMA it where you bought it. Bitmain will not RMA it.

Bought from Amazon and the seller will not accept for exchange because he doesn't have them any more.

See if the reseller will give you the info from the original invoice like date and #,it might help but the warranty starts when he got them.

Good to hear, I think my issues with not being able to run more than 1 are specific to my computer.

The one I am running is pointed to ck's solo pool, as mentioned.  Good advice.

After 30-40 hours of U3 goes into zombies. Removes it from the Zombie Mode only juggling cable USB. How can I get rid of it? Connect the 2 devices. Pass mode zombies are not at the same time. 0.8V supply voltage, frequency 255.

There is no fix, this is how the U3 operates.  Plug and re-plug daily.  Use a high quality USB cable.

Read this whole thread and you'll find pages of people complaining about these units going zombie.  They need to be restarted almost every day, it's just how they are.  Maybe Bitmain could tell us, but since they haven't by now I don't think they know either.

I have read this entire stream and see that all are facing this problem. I spent two months trying to get to work normally. I regret that I bought two of these blocks. It did not finish the model that sell. I will not buy ANTMINER and others will not advise.
My GRIDSEED works for weeks without rebooting.

Yea, and it's a shame, too, because for us hobby miners these would have been great little machines.  3 of them equals the hashing power of an S1, but at like 1/2 of the power consumption.  I wish I knew anything about electronics, I'd take the 3 I have and cannibalize their chips and make my own 180gh miner.

If power cycling is all that's needed, that could certainly be programmed.  A device popped up on tindie recently to toggle USB power using an external control, and controllable sockets of course exist.  Seems like too much investment (money+time) to really be worth it though.

Avalon might be doing a small miner as well, could see what they've got up their sleeves.
