So this "mod" has provided much better results as far as cooling and operating stability go vs. what I saw from re-doing the thermal paste:
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Yes, the metal base gets VERY hot on the v2's as well. I use a thermaltake  usb fan for the underside and it keeps it much cooler

Just picked up the two v2 units I have in front of my laptop that have been running all day. The bottom plate is cool enough to hold each in my hand comfortably. Running these at default specs and they consistently do 56gh+. BTW, anyone have ideas about stacking the v2 units as I've seen done with Gridseeds? Thought about using standoffs but doesn't seem like they would be stable. I've done a little experimenting and it looks like about 1½" spacing between gives enough room for proper cooling.

What is it about these units that causes such drastic end user experiences?  Of the 3 I have, all 3 are almost too hot too touch on the bottom when running.  Default specs I never see more than 40GH.  Did you have any problems getting them both to run at the same time?

Running 2 at a time seems to work OK.  Sometimes CGMiner will switch one or both units to a new AU3 number, but they keep on mining. Here's my setup:

1} Dell M4500 64-bit i7 Quad, 16gb, stand-alone DSL connection. CGMner runs OK, but with other mining hardware BFGMiner x64-seems to run faster and more stable. Looking forward to trying the v2's with BFG 5.20 when it becomes available.

2} Have used these Anker/Orico/Aitech 10-port aluminum hubs for 2 years with no problems. Having a power switch makes it easy to reset without unplugging the U3's  When a unit goes zombie, just shut down CGMiner, power off the hub, wait a few seconds, restart the hub and restart CGMiner.

http://www.amazon.com/Aitech-Adapter-backward-Compatible-aluminum/dp/B009NESU4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429186867&sr=8-1&keywords=aitech+10+port+usb+3.0+hub

3) Use this Supernight power supply to run both the V2 units and the hub. Meanwell brand seems to be the same unit. Some of these don't come with a thermal switch that cycles the fan, so I install one. It cuts down on the fan failures which is a problem with these; I have to replace the fan every six nonths or so. Anyone know of a quality ball-bearing replacement fan that will fit? The stock PS units that come with the v2's are not very stable and get too hot with normal use.

http://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Universal-Regulated-Switching-Computer/dp/B009EIANT2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1429186484&sr=8-4&keywords=12v+30a+power+supply

Will be trying 4 more U3's on another similar machine when I get things set up. Will post here how it goes.

Careful with your settings at max frequency and 835 volt (850 is max), you're redlining that little machine and it will burn out sooner at that rate.

Hi

I'm trying to make my U3 to work but it just won't.

I'm using a Pi with Minera
I changed the USB cable
I'm using a solid 12v power supply

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it doesn't work. I'm a noob with all this and don't understand it at all.

Here's some of my log:

So this "mod" has provided much better results as far as cooling and operating stability go vs. what I saw from re-doing the thermal paste:

I have the same "mod" on my old computer with the graphics card that over heats in 20 minutes.. With the mod it never over heats.  People widly underestimate what a solid fan can do.

Hi

I'm trying to make my U3 to work but it just won't.

Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Your screen cap shows it mining at 63gh, what's the problem?

Adjust the difficulty for your pool and you won't get the "shares above target" message.

Wrong advice. That share above target only shows up in debug mode which he's enabled to see if there's anything wrong (which there doesn't appear to be).

Ahh yes, you are correct, I was thinking of another mining program I use for my stick miners that doesn't allow you to adjust the diff, and it always submits "above target" for a bit until it settles out.

Well I got that part right at least.  Tongue

when I compile cgminer I have two options:

--enable-bmsc           Compile support for BitMain Single Chain
--enable-bitmain        Compile support for BitMain Multi Chain

what is the difference between this?
what to use for multiple antminer U3

I believe the U3 is single chain, someone will confirm.

I have problems with mine overheating and not working i am going to try the fan mod I was thinking about cracking it open to apply more thermal paste but the bulk of the heat seems to be on the bottom blue plate

I'm interested in buying some U3s, but can someone share his EU customs experience? How much is generally being declared in the invoce?

Well, i've seen that some resellers are selling them at damn high prices (like 50€+shipping). I was thinking about a local GB of 20 units, becouse bitmain price is good, but i must include in my calculations customs costs, so basically is for that reason that i'm asking here about past experiences.

I got it now. I've ordered quite a lot stuff from China and never had to pay to customs anything. And there has been big and quite expensive packets (1000-2000€).Thou never ordered from Bitmain anything.I think it depends on courier if they clear the customs. At least here in Finland.

Cool story, but in Italy in most cases customs is a pain the ass. On 400 USD of purchase how much is declared in the commercial invoice?
