Anyone know where i can snag the latest factom index for Win 64? Mine doesn't seem to sync anymore.  Is there a 'noob' friendly explained for installing? I have an old factom installation.

FOR RENT.

am i right that there is no way to password-protect the factom wallet??

Now there is no way of protection. Web GUI wallet was released only in one trial, so do not use it safely! This is just a trial version not for everyday use. You use it at your own risk!
For safe storage of factoids, use only paper wallet (factoidpapermill).
"How To Use FactoidPapermill" - http://factom.org/howto#collapse-1-5

It's ok, but how send to any other factoid address?

No pain, no gain.

We may have to use: factom-cli.exe (windows)

Is safe to use factom-cli from factom.msi ?

No pain, no gain.

OK, but how to safely store Factom then? Commandline?

For safe storage of factoids, use only paper wallet (factoidpapermill).
"How To Use FactoidPapermill" - http://factom.org/howto#collapse-1-5

ok. it says "This is early beta software you should use this guide at your own risk, we suggest not to use large amount of factoids in case there may be issues and/or bugs."

but i guess thats just the usual disclaimer right?

Yes, you are right it is a usual disclaimer. I have been using this program since November 2015 (starting with the first version) and has make a lot of new addresses and private keys, and there were no problems. Everything works perfectly.

How to send factoids to another address. This can be done for example through a Web GUI wallet. How to do it is written here:

Safe view storage factoids are now only on paper wallet (factoidpapermill). For one-time fast transfer factoids from one address to another suitable Web GUI wallet. For long-term storage only paper wallet (factoidpapermill).

The factoidpaperill, is paper wallet cold.  - Yes, you know, it's a long cold storage generally.

How send to other address from this wallet? - For example, you can use the Web GUI wallet. If you just make new factoid address and a secret key, to your new address was in the Web GUI wallet  want to import the private key into it, this can be done in the web interface WEB GUI wallet. Then you have to wait a full synchronization and you will see your new address in your Web GUI wallet and all your factoids out there, then you can send your factoids to any other address.

Instructions here - "Factoid Wallet GUI Guide" - http://factom.org/howto#collapse-1-5

+monthly inflation

By the way about future inflation. Most likely we will see almost 0% inflation, as will daily convert factoids in entry credits. So we will see a constant amount of factoids on present level of 8.7 million. So it is possible not to worry.

Probably it was asked before and i feel having read a bit about it but just wondering again:

Why isn't Factom into recuring fees?   (compare https://tierion.com/pricing)

Real storage costs are per time. Distributed historical data should cost a little per time as well.
This is less relevant for Factom than for Maidsafe but more relevant than for Bitcoin.

This is what I think as well.

True Factom is not an alt and classic storage is not the primary requirement for this it. However, Facrom needs holders and traders, not only users.
Holders and traders need a simple GUI wallet, similar to Bitcoin core.

I think this is very important for further adoption and the team should pay attention to the needs of the community. There have been dozen of requests for this.

Other then that, next target 0.009, probably today.

I have tried to use papermill but it's not working for me. Downloaded factomd and the wallet (Windows), waited for the sync to be complete and the executed papermill, but all that happens is a flash of a cmd screen and then nothing. What am I doing wrong? i do get an error message when running factomd (system cannot find none.config file), but the synchronization seems to run.

I think you need to save a copy files (factoid_bolt.db, factoid_wallet_bolt.db) of all your address FCT if they have factoids, to completely remove all the folders and files (".factom" in Users Directory, "Factom" in Program Files) Web GUI wallet and re-install a new copy (http://factom.org/downloads/factom.msi), and wait for full synchronization.

After starting CMD.EXE you need to specify the full right way to your file factoidpapermill.exe, after then do not forget to press the Enter key, only then will you be able to create a new address and a secret key. Here, for example as shown in the screenshot:

Yes, one time/transaction fee but not small recurring fee for historical/idle data....
