Just to update, I deleted the ~/.factom/ldb directory and when it redownloaded it was able to properly sync.

There was no need to remove anything, just had to wait. Yesterday I also had a problem with synchronization, synchronize two attempts failed and I just waited for 4 hours and again put the synchronize and everything was synchronized properly. If you completely remove database each time is how much time you will need in the future to synchronize each time from 0 (zero). Horror.

does it do some type of validation on all the downloaded blocks every time it's ran? I had it sync'd up all night but restarted it and again it's not syncing and it's using like 25% of my cpu

As I expected, regardless of this recent deal, the price continues to tank back. M2 s late and the market re probably worried about Factom team being stuck.

There s no other reason why Factom would be coupled with Eth, these coins have nothing in common besides both being based on smart contracts tech.
