Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

What kind of error are you getting? Or is the site saying nothing at all?

Looking forward to the LocalBitcoins mobile app.

A few months ago was a StartupBus competition, and one of the contestants was Open Wallet app:

Here's their proof of concept video:

I have no idea what they were going to use to settle payment to the party acting as "ATM".  I wouldn't doubt they had no good solution ... and left it as "and magic happens here", after figuring out that PayPal wouldn't work for this.

If that was the hurdle these entrepreneurs couldn't solve, then had they considered using bitcoin as the settlement currency they might have been able to get funding, develop it and launch.

Well, ... will LocalBitcoins take it further?

Yes, an app would be great Smiley
(I would do it open source for 100BTC and actively maintain it under my Android dev. account but I can't do the iPhone part.)

Those services are cool, but seem to be way off too expensive for me currently. I have setup a local installation: http://kangasbros.fi:8080/

However soon I hope we will update localbitcoins.com, and can start translating it more seriously, Currently it doesn't make much sense to translate the site, since many of the texts will change.

Looking forward to it.

Incidentally, the Olympics in London would have been a great opportunity for trials:

"Olympic Tourists To Compete In Epic Line-Standing Competitions At London’s ATMs"

There are, unfortunately, no sellers listed on LocalBitcoins.com in London.  A buyer or two, but no sellers.

Hmm, do you mean that you would need like a separate "business name", or would it be sufficient for you if you could login with email? Or are you worried about security?

We are on it, thanks for notifying, for some reason we missed it Smiley

Now it is also possible to release escrow using SMS message. This makes it possible to do bitcoin cash transactions without internet connection - less hassle.

For the seller, the process is following

1. Offer
2. Fund the escrow, get SMS code & number, write them down to your phone
3. Meet & receive the escrow
4. Send the release SMS message
5. Both receive confirmation SMS (if they have provided phone numbers)
6. Everybody is happy, bitcoins transfered to buyer

For the buyer:

1. Offer
2. Take down or memorize secret escrow code
3. Meet & give cash
4. Receive SMS message from localbitcoins with the secret escrow code
5. Happy, bitcoins transfered

So there is 2 codes, one with you can release the SMS, and other by receiving it from localbitcoins you are sure that the escrow is released.

Any feedback very welcome Smiley
