Oh man, I accidently sent BTC to my old localbitcoin address, saw too late it had changed to a new one.

It is with relief I can say that it ended up in my account anyway!

As of a few weeks ago your address changes every time you send to it. You can always re-use the old ones too, but you get a new one every time you send coin to the new one.

Get many scams on here?

only if you accept buys from randoms with no/fake ID & stolen bank details.

the money was in my account, but the bank 'stole' it back

bank, police & web owners said, too bad be more careful - fuckers!

other than that its pretty solid.

The site: http://localbitcoins.com/

Features

- tries to resolve your location based on your IP, but you can also specify zipcode/postal code search
- anonymous by default, no email addresses shown. You decide afterwards if you accept the offer, and of course you can use throw-away email.
- specify your price using equation - makes it easy to make competitive pricing strategy
- transactions and reputation system. collect reputation via confirmed trades. It is possible to do the transaction on-the-spot with just an one device. Also it is possible to do the transaction with SMS message - quick and easy.

How to run a bitcoin cash exchange for fun and profit - guide

We also wrote a short tutorial for using the site: http://localbitcoins.com/cash_exchange_howto

Features under development

- better process for buyers/sellers
- better UI

Any suggestions are welcome! Especially feedback how well the location works for you, eg. how well your location is determined with the IP, etc.

how did that happen?
i have my account protected with 2 authentication step with the second step is the paper-based one. I stored the code in my other laptop. It breaks down a while ago. So i have to remove the 2 step after i got back the access to the account. I just got it back like 2 days ago. So i m changing and setting up my acc up to date. Yesterday there was a guy who make a purchase of 300$ btc by wu. I told him my wu closed earlier for the week. And it s stated in my contact hours. He asked abt dealing in pm. I said fine. We discussed abt reserve and everything. Just after a few mins i was away to have dinner, i came back and see his trade released. Right after that, i see another trade of 580 $ released as well, also from hi. U couldnt imagine how shock i am. It is too quick.i dont even know abt the 580 before. I just see an announcement from lbc to my email. I was so surprised, get to the website, get to released contact paged AND  see 2 trades from him released almost at the same time. Fuck my life.
The thing lbc support didnt give a damn care abt it. All they tell me is trade released, couldnt do anything. Not even a single info abt it.
A nice guy in the lbc forums that i might click a phising link. And that s true because i clicked a support link earlier. But i still dont understand. At least, i have email verification with lbc. So when the ip changes, it supposed to send verfication code to my email. And my email has 2 step protection linked to my cell. Then how can he do it.

after I talked with my sister, we figured out the way how he could do it. the link in the phising email is the link that disable the login guard and sending the pw to the address at the same time. so he can log in the website easily. so this means that we have a bug in localbitcoins security sistem that the hackers used it to attempt. so watch out guys, dont make the day like me ...turn on the 2 authentication factor and never click any link even if it is sent from localbitcoins. if u see the link that ask u for username a pw, turn it off immediately, thanks .

never click any link even if it is sent from localbitcoins.

Sadly, this is what I follow, too. I consider myself an expert but I don't feel comfortably secure in determining the source of an email fast enough to make it worth clicking on a link that came by mail rather than to hop over to the browser and open the service manually.

Stay safe out there …
