I'm not a gambler, but I live near a casino. I see how much money the casinos make because their fines for cheating are nowhere near the money they make. So I hope what you are doing will change the world of gambling.

Having said that, I believe your service needs to be promoted in a big way. I have some ideas if you are interested.

Thanks for the support!

I'd love to hear what ideas you have to promote bitZino. Ultimately, I'd really like to make bitZino appeal to the non-bitcoin crowd. I really want regular people to come use the website, have a lot of fun gambling with play money, and then take the time to learn about bitcoins, so they can step up their game.

Yeah, I think bitZino is the most innovative bitcoin adaption so far. The micropayment apps are useful, but I'm thinking that Provably Fair (which should be trademarked) will revolutionize gambling.

I live in the States, so my only concern is the legality in promoting gambling, but I don't think it will be a problem if it is done in a purely informational and educational format. I would like to make people aware of Bitcoin and bitZino is a great way to draw people in.

If you think the US government has a fetish for blocking online casinos... Communist China is way ahead of them.

AFAIK no bitcoin casinos have been blocked there yet, but it's a matter of time. There are some large online casinos that operate in the mainland; in fact there's a master license holder in a certain offshore jurisdiction who specializes in punching holes in the Great Firewall for exactly that purpose. Retail price of getting your site decent uptime in Beijing is $100k a year, supposedly for "hidden infrastructure" within China but probably mostly being paid as bribes to Chinese officials.

I'd like to watch that pitch...

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm glad you're all a fan of what we're doing at bitZino Cheesy

Before we start marketing too aggressively, we'd like to make make bitZino a more full-featured casino - primarily through adding a larger variety of games. To that end, stay on the lookout for Video Poker, which is launching within the next 24 hours! We will be aggressively rolling out additional games in the near future as well.

We also definitely see the value of the international market. Since bitcoin is an international currency, there is no reason to restrict ourselves so English speakers. However, we feel we need to translate our interface before we start promoting anything to non-english speakers. We will likely be localizing our product toward the end of this year, and then following up with international marketing efforts.

In the meantime, feel free to tell all your friends about us!

The video poker plays well.

One comment: I'd like it to show how much I win when I win:

I bet 10 and full house pays 9x - but I don't see "90" anywhere.

Nice.

So, as certain sites start to become more popular, they potentially become bigger targets.  Another poker site changed from .com to .eu (.com still redirects to the .eu though.)

Are "hardening" steps being considered, not just for the site but for the wallet / account data / funds as well?

We haven't considered switching to a non-.com domain yet, but you do bring up a good point. It would probably behoove us to do this sooner rather than later. We are planning on getting a .bit domain up and running pretty soon though.

Regarding other general security: We take this very seriously. We store the majority of our funds in an offline cold storage wallet. We use bcrypt hashing for all of our password storage. We also do regular penetration testing on our own systems. We are aware that we have the potential to become a target, and therefore we need to take security seriously from day 1.

Just a small niggle, but when playing blackjack I can't immediately tell whether I've hit 21 or bust since my total disappears from the screen.  In either situation the dealer turns over his card, and my total vanishes until the dealer has finished his taking his turn, which may involve quite a few cards.

Would it be possible to have my total displayed while the dealer is acting?  Also, the dealer's total isn't displayed while he's acting, only when he finishes.  I'd like to see the dealer's total change as the he plays.

Suggestion:

Offer a 4-colour deck option for the video poker, to make it easier to distinguish the suits.  Typically sites will draw diamonds in blue and clubs in green when this feature is enabled.  See pokerstars and sealswithclubs for sites that do this well.

It looks to me like if I have 7 or more cards, the cards will overlap with the result of the hand.

I had 6 cards in this hand, and it almost overlaps:

Wish I could multiply my bankroll by 85 when I play for bitcoins...

Good suggestion! We'll have to change how we do our dealing logic somewhat - the difficulty is that the javascript in the browser doesn't really have any knowledge of the blackjack game itself, all the game logic is on the server, the javascript is dumb and just handles dealing the cards.

We'll figure out a way to do this though, cause, I agree, it will be much better.

Hmm, I thought we accounted for this edge case correctly, but it looks like things may have degraded. We'll fix this, and also make sure to include this in our automated tests going forward.

Thanks, as always, for the tips Dooglus! Look for these changes to be rolling out in the next few days.

I still don't understand how I can verify the actual cards played are verifiable by the hash. This needs to be explained a little better.

Maybe related to this:

If I play a play money blackjack game and put all my chips on a single hand and lose, the "you're out of play money" alert pops up as soon as I bust or stand, and before the dealer even starts playing.  It's odd to stand on 20, then see that I've lost, and only then have the dealer hit a 6 card 21 to beat me.  It feels "cheaty", like the 6 card 21 was pre-determined.  It was, of course, but it would look better if the "out of money" alert only showed up after I had seen the hand play out.  See these screenshots of it happening.  In each case I had stood at 16 or 18.  The dealer has 13, 15, and 10, but has already been declared the winner:
