Hi you may remember i posted this a while back id like some info please !

If the laptop is broken and on the very first VTR wallet will i be fine just leaving it broken for now if the dev is going to fork or should i get the coins onto a new wallet I'm not a geek I'm an investor  

I mined the coins at the start i think its around 200k and have never really touched them so not exactly pocket change now and definitely won't be soon, but don't worry guys I'm not dumping as there is definately something going on here and always has been, this will be a top 10 !

Your coins will be fine, just load the wallet.dat into the new wallet and your good to go.

You could try to start your laptop by connecting it to a monitor. That's a cheap fix - just need a cable.

Next, you could take out the hard drive (easy) and dock it. Then connect the docked hard disk to a working computer and find the wallet.dat file by searching through your windows file manager.

If it's got a HDMI connection hook it up to your TV.

Possibly. The other interesting part is that there are now ~16-20% of coins listed on Bittrex and about ~1% on RAWX; that is much higher than has ever been on Bittrex if I recall but still shows that most coins aren't even in play.

So whichever way you look at it around ~75-80% of coins aren't listed on any exchange.

The other thing is that barely anyone seems to actually be staking although a decent number are running the wallet.

The previous wallet did a good job of auto-staking. Not sure the new wallet is working in the same way.

Well for sure it works as I'm staking right now (and if I don't stake then the staking difficulty on bittrex and cryptoguru goes right down to near zero; conversely when I do stake it raises extremely high).

The other thing is that you do have to unlock the wallet specifically for staking and not just general use (there is a tick box which I believe wasn't present on the previous clients)

**This release has a massive overhaul regarding the way orphans are dealt with including asynchronous indexing. There will be a reindex on the blockindex only, so expect to wait between 40-60 minutes on first startup.

This upgrade is mandatory, all services such as exchanges and all users is required to make upgrade to this release as soon as possible.

Did you notice the article author states any solution introducing a new altcoin is not viable?
