Also another note is that unless you have set windows explorer/mac os X to display ALL FILE EXTENSIONS then everything anyone says here is pretty much a moot point.
i.e. if you open your folder where the vtorrent program is and it just says "vtorrent" and not "vtorrent.exe" you're probably doing things wrong.
