I had another S5 loose a blade on Sunday (2nd one that has failed in the 30 days I've had them). I tried using a different power supply and also moving the cables to the other port on the controller but it's still going all xxx's. I'm not overclocking, just running stock settings. I emailed Bitmain support but only got one response asking what kind of power supply I was using. I responded back (EVGA 750G & Corsair HX850) but heard  nothing further from them. Bitmain, can you send me an RMA number and I'll ship this back to Colorado?

Hi, we are in the same boat. 1 of my s5 blade dead in a month and promised to give shipping label to ship back. But its already 3 weeks since the promised and I never heard back from them again. I send couple email but no reply at all. BITMAIN if you read this please prosess our RMA. I Have been loyal customer since antminer S1.  Thank You

I had another one fail a few weeks ago and Bitmain Support was much more responsive then. I don't mind paying the shipping to Denver, just don't want to ship it back without an RMA number or confirmation that they will send me a replacement.

By which method did you each contact?

Email to info@bitmaintech.com and pm to BitmainWarranty on here.

Thanks. I'll give the teams responsible a poke.

Hi Dogie, can you help me too please.
here is the last email, telling me that shipping label will be generated.

Bump the zendesk ticket, that date is very old.

Hi, yes I have bump it several time no response. I get a reply here from BitmainWarranty asking me to wait, let see how it goes.
Thank for your help Dogie.

I've sold one of my S3 miners, will sell my next one and a coin craft to help fund my S5. I was juggling between this and the jackson but I believe this is better on the wallet in terms of power consumption. I lost $19 AUD on my S3 miners which I ran for about 3 - 4 months but I'm not fussed, I made some bitcoin!

Hold your horses back! There's currently no way to buy either an S5 or an SP20...

Bad times truly .... tried to order an Avalon 4.1 and total comes to BTC 2.14 including shipping with DHL to UK (not that there is choice of shipper either!)! What a rip-off! My S5 cost a whopping BTC 1.1 shipped (after applying voucher).

Patience... i even got a loan on BTCJam to buy an additional unit, and Wham! No S5 for me Sad Good thing i have enough hashing power to cover the loan.... but this tests one's patience...

bitmaintech website is down ..... could we have some movement finally!?

No. I asked bitmain to move onto cloudflare so everyone can can locally served rather than using CN servers. Because the name servers changed it'll take a few hours to a day for everything to propagate.

-Or, a setting is wrong while moving over.

Usual dogie waffle!

What happened with the movement we were supposed to see last Monday?

See what I mean? He insinuated there was going to be some movement on Monday just gone .... its now Thursday and nothing!
Now he says there is no movement at all, rather bitmain are carrying out his instructions .... from you dogie? What a dunce! I won't be surprised at all if the site gets back online with a new offering listed.

Does NO mean there isn't any movement on new sales and/or product?

It means its unrelated.

What happened with the movement we were supposed to see last Monday?

It came and they hadn't decided what to do yet.

Can recovery from a long holiday in China take more then a Monday and Tuesday?

Post-communism capitalism required a lifestyle change.  Long vacation - workers mind set shifts back to the iron rice bowl days and don't bounce back right away.

I had a friend with whom I played chess weekly.  He was from the central south region of China.  He explained to me what it was like working with guaranteed employment.  On a nice day he would decide to leave for the park and sit in the sun.  His boss would insist he go back to work.  He wouldn't.  So, a change from such a mind set might be difficult and could crop up again after long holidays.

----------

And I just learned it's possible that post-holiday shipping may be bogging down export.

Those guys probably got them when bitmain was selling them for $315. $175+ profit plus whatever they mined while waiting to be resold. Wish I thought of it.

So, anyone determine if the Noctua NF-12 3000 PWM push pull is a better setup than using the Corsair SP120 High Performance/Static push/pull?

I mean, at full speed the Noctua's are only 43dB and have a 6 year warranty. (This is 3000RPM version. They also make a 2000 RPM version)
The Corsair SP120 are only 35dB and cap out at 2350 RPM and have a two year warranty.

I have used Noctua's in the past and their build quality and performance has always been stellar. I believe they make the perfect cooling fans, just seeing if they are applicable to the S5.
These guys even make a fan that's Certified IP67 which means it is dust and water proof down to 1 meter.

Of course, all this and keeping the temps down to 60c.

If I had the opportunity I would try the Noctua NF-12 2000 PWM model in a push pull config. Not as robust as the 3000 RPM, but it is much quieter.

Corsair High Performance/Static model Air series. I checked over some youtube videos on these very quickly and they are very quiet, but may not cool enough.

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Series-Performance-Edition-CO-9050008-WW/dp/B007RESFYK

The Noctua has a higher static pressure of 4.18 compared to the Corsair which has 3.1.

So, who was the ginney pig and tried these guys out? My pick would be to use two Noctua NF-F12 2000 in a push/pull.

So.. I've tried to search this, but I haven't seen anything on it. I have a new S5.  It seems to run fine. Every once in awhile, though, maybe every day or two, I will see that it is running at half efficiency.. in the 500-600 GH/s rate. I go into to miner configuration and hit save and apply without changing the settings.. and it goes back to 1150-1200 GH/s. Sometimes it stays for a day or so.. sometimes it stays for an hour. Is this a faulty power supply or a firmware glitch..? Anyone else seeing this happen?

I'm seeing the same thing on my 1 S5.  Frustrating.  Sometimes a save and apply click in the configuration page works for a full day or two.  Sometimes only a half hour.

Hoping there's a firmware fix coming to fix this. In the mean time is there any provision for a periodic reboot built in?

Yes, its a known issue and will get fixed soonTM. Current solutions are timers on the PSU to hard reboot [harsh], or software monitor's like M's to issue soft reboots on hashrate drop. Soft reboots won't always fix it depending on which exact issue you get though.

Has this been fixed?

That  does not do the job. unless you downclock.

My current setup has a delta as a push and a silverstone 141 as a pull  55db and allows for freq 393 and 1290gh.

@opentoe:

I have the Corsair SP120's in push/pull, and I can say these are definitely not ideal, as they can only keep temperatures in the low 60's when the S5 is downclocked to about 325, for an ambient temperature of about 16.

Note: The Noctua NF-F12 2000, has higher airflow, higher static pressure, at lower rpm's, and lower noise. It is simply a much better fan than the Corsair, period. They do not come cheap though.  Cheesy

can't say i have yet to get ripped off by them not saying it won't happen Ive ordered stuff  it just takes so long to get the shipping goes thu  the roof . it can take a month to get some times some TV and PC parts i had to order there couldn't find them any other place . so can't say really what those 1000 reviews run into etc .guess i was just lucky.

Then there is this site I think would only be good if you lived in Canada or the US for the Avon 4.1 ,  opps meant ASICMiner Block Erupter Prisma Smiley.

https://www.wtcr.ca/content/asicminer-tube-assembly  I guess to beat out some of the shipping and import tax if any .I think FedEx sewed  me over on the last S5 i bought from Bit main direct then lied to me over on the phone for import tax .

Anyone tried interrupting the pulsed power lead to the fan and putting an external PWM fan controller while leaving the speed sense connected?

I received my S5 today and I'm having trouble getting it to hash.

Sometimes it will hash at around 650 Ghash/s for about 5 minutes and then it will be hashing at under 1 Ghash/s for most of the time.

Am I doing something wrong?

It could well be the pool you're in.  Ghash was definitely having problems this week.

What pool are you using?  Have you overclocked or underclocked? (what is your frequency set at)

What temperature is the machine reporting?
