Depends on your PSU. If you can increase voltage, you may find out...

Under development Modular UPGRADEABLE Miner (MUM). Looking for investors.
Changing one PCB with screwdriver and you have brand new miner in hand... Plug&Play, scalable from one module to thousands.

Would be nice if Bitmain re-introduced the option to ship via / with EMS - I am sure it will be a lot cheaper than UPS (and obviously DHL). I know they are not as fast as the other behemoths, but we'd be selecting them in that knowledge.

If they charge for 2 at around 120 for shipping then you will break even at the current price around May. My guess is that the topless case is for heat disipation since the chips release heat at the top.

I just went to their site and it was listed as an option with UPS and DHL for S3 orders. Should be the same with s5s

weight and size is almost the same so i guess whatever shipping you see for the S3, the same will be for S5... I hope not as it is quite high for where I am at right now

Bitmain, will you PLEASE start making the boards interchangeable with rack mount units … How fricken hard is it to engineer a board that can fit into a S4 or S2 for that matter … These units with the external power supply do not scale for home mining in any way … I think your engineers need to go to the woodshed , great work on power consumption but PLEASE think about helping the people who use real racks . Im not asking for a new unit, I would just like to swap out boards .

You can always go this route to improve the layout:

You are right, they must have re-ntroduced them lately ..... and they are NOT cheaper than UPS for the C1, so looks like will be the same for the S5. Bummer! Seems UPS are Bitmain's preffered shipper ...

Bitmain, could you register as a VAT collection point for shipments to the EU? Would be nice to pay my VAT with the order and not have to deal with your preffered shipper's (UPS) archaic tax processing methods!

I mean, these guys did not send me an invoice and neither did they notify me nor offer me the opportunity to pay due VAT until the van driver turned up on my door and asked me for either a cheque (yes a check in this day and age!) or to phone their office so I could pay via card before he could hand over my S3+'s!

Hey Guys!!
They still undermine your U$Dollar$ !!and make dollars has never bored no one !!  Wink Cool Tongue
But we still mine our bitcoin, and Bitmaintech is probably the biggest (and serious) ASIC manufacturer on marketplace.
New products are aimed at new customers (on the first time), old sensitive customer pay another "price" built on patience and expectation of a good deal.
No price tag question will be posed with chinese manufacturer ,Spondoo probably have superior quality product but no "Gartner Magic Quadrant" will needed to know how wins the cost challenge.
Today's open RMA request by eighteen (days) S3+B11, and no ask on myself about the quality question, no other on more than ten little S3 brothers.
ASIC lifecycle caracteristics don't need to meet top quality requirement as unique eligible value add factor.
Shipping cost can do difference on small quantities and heavy weight parcel (no one read spec on S5 weight??), distance apart , if the next purchase will not be an "Ant"  , probably will be shipped from Israeli to the ancient and old Europe , and someone else will count my euro!!

There is always a chance or possibilities, but we DO NOT recommend any over clocking.  S5 specific, may be but count it as not much...  Please don't count on OC potential when you calculate mining gain as power consumption usually goes up and the hard ware failure may happens.

@Pekatete,

Thanks for the idea!

Cons to EMS is package gets damaged or get lost too often than UPS Express Air Shipping.

TL;DR

S5 is 3.5 kg in weight (~8lb+1-2lb for box=~10lb probably the whole package) vs 5kg for S3 (13 lb with box)

(not being a troll...)
I will say, I think that this is a great idea... he benefits to those living in colder climates , it's good.

Merry Christmas!
