What do you think? I think I might be close. I'm guessing $10,000 per bitcoin by then.

Probably, by 2021 the inflation will be ~1.8% , by then the bitcoin price can be way over 50,000$.

You could become a rich person by then.

Well you guys really are very very optimistic about the price.
It is simple too high at least for me because from 300 to 50,000 is a huge difference.
To make this change there is not enough time and i think its impossible for almost 6 years from now.

Almost like $3 to $500. That would never happen! Wink
if China starts getting into it openly then surely we can see that happening again, it's in trillions then.

At the speed of recent price rise, the price of bitcoin will be around 50-80k by 2020. So with 100 bitcoin, you will be a multi millionaire.

Over the past 10 days BTC/USD (on Bitstamp) has risen on average by 2.3% per day. If (and obviously that's a big-unlikely-if) that rate  is maintained we'll reach $80k in 239 days - late June 2016.

OK, the price is around $380 now. It seems the 2.3% rise per day is not sustainable.

Even if the weekly rise is 2.3%, the yearly rise is 226% or 326% of the original investment. That is still very good. In 5 years, the price will be over $120k.

Price rise of 2.3% very good. It will be 9% 1 month, then more than 100% 1 year.  This investment for me : Grin

I think 100 bitcoins is not extremely impressive. You will definitely become moderately wealthy if you keep them but not a millionaire good luck!

100 bitcoins not impressive?Actually this is more than $30k!
With the coming halving in 2016 and another one in 2020 a price of $10k is optimistic but possible.

so, yes ... 100 BTC is enough 10 years after.
that why i store my life economies in the Bitcoin network.
but, at the beginning, i have been to isolate life economies to freezing legal bank law (2016).
it's my money ... not the money from my country.

there are simply too much people with huge amounts of coins that are willing to dump the price down just to secure their profits. early adopters with thousands of coins will be a huge danger for the price if it goes up to $10,000 or higher.

true, but when supply is restrict and the member don't release coins more quickly than the demand, the price continue to rise or even faster.

at the end, the supply can not respond to demand and the price will be skyrocket for a long time after ... with high variation, too.

It feels weird that I missed this thread but as I am not checking that many pages inserts a joke

If I Had 100 BTC and 20/20 Vision I would be looking back at 2015 and saying I wish I did that and also pat myself on the back for a job well done.

Those charts ont even take combinations of those possibilities onto account.

It isn't just one market that is taking bitcoin into account, it is all of them.

only one thing is certain, in 2020 with the third halving, miners are forced to leave if the price don't increase, so the price will increase for sure, otherwise bitcoin will die at 100%

so 2020 is the last eyar for bitcoin to remain in this stagnation

Interesting angle on it Amph, very thought provoking. Thanks!

Difficulty will readjust and we will be back to Gpu mining and BTC will be finally decentralized.
That's my favourite scenario

Oh please, if the price would stay stable some miners would quit and the difficulty would adjust making the remaining miners profitable again.

100 bitcoins is definitely a nice stash! Heck, I am nowhere even close to this and I still feel good about my stash!

I have set my longer term holding goals for the year 2020. I don't think that we will see anything very, very serious happening in the Bitcoin community before this year, or at least close to this year. This thing just needs time to develop properly and for the people to gain trust into this technology.

Also, the year 2020 is as well a year of the next halving so many things should be happening by then.

I think that holding even 50, or heck even a 25 bitcoins should bring a nice fortune to its holders after a year 2020!

Mark my words!!!

21 should do it. There will only be 1 million people that can own 21, in fact less due the lost coins (the supply will be less than 21) and the total coins will never be mined on our lifetimes, so by owning 21 you are part of an elite of holders. Of course, you are not a monster whale like the super early day guys, but it's a great achievement and should put you on retirement early.

I guess not! The bitcoin hype will still mean that even the slightist increase would mean that most Bitcoin holders will sell quickly, forcing the price to fall below where it was before. However, its price "hectabled" (increased by a multiple of 7) before, don't see a reason why it shouldn't happen again. That was only brought down by the bugs that were detected since then!

I may be wrong as the bitcoin price is extremely volatile.

It will be worth 10,000 some day (highly likely)

I agree that 21 is a nice number and should be a goal to go for. But I wouldn't call that being part of an elite. The elite is holding thousand, tens of thousand or hundred thousands of coins.
And being able to retire with 21 coins depends on how old you are now and how long it will take to reach mid 5 figures for 1 BTC.
For instance 50k for 1 BTC and you're fine with an total amount of 21 BTC. At least if you wanna enjoy the rest of your life somewhere is south east asia, Thailand for instance.
