Was a article in this weeks Economist(page 26 I believe) about the website backpages and how a Sheriff contacted Mastercard and Visa to stop dealing with this website known for sex trade.
Now the site is looking to bitcoin to pay for advertising and that I believe will only cause downward pressure on killing bitcoin.

Not against it just saying what will most likely happen if the connection is always drug dealing,porn,escorts and money laundering. This is how a lot of people see bitcoin sadly.

but the industry in general (i mean the big companies) haven't showed any interest in bitcoin so far.

Because most people as their customers still dont understand about bitcoin yet. Some moves from individual can give big effect if there is any interest from the customers.

Bitcoin would be convenient for people who don't have a credit card or don't want to use the cards they have, either don't want the spouse to see it on the bill or don't trust giving their number to "porn guys", or afraid of recurring billing.

Well, there are a LOT of rules and regulations in the porn industry. buywithbtc.biz is my first non-adult site i ever made, but i can only assume that mainstream sites have less regulations than pornsites...

Offcourse, there are copyright infringing sites, that do not care about the rules and regulations. And there are a couple sites out there that sell/give away illegal movies (depicting illegal acts) that make my stomach turn (i always report EVERY site depicting children/forced sex to the cybercrime unit of my country... copyright infringers that sell/give away LEGAL porn usually get a fair warning from me before i delete them without reporting.)...

But overall, 99% of the pornsites out there are overregulated, and completely legal... Offcourse, i'm telling this to the wrong audience, because i guess most people on bitcointalk are computer-savvy, and know dozens of ways to get their hands on copyrighted materials (not limited to torrents, newsgroups or filehosters)

Still it might get dangerous somehow. You can chargeback your money with CreditCards yet you cannot do it with bitcoins. So if This Porn Provider cancels your account for no reason you can't do anything about it.

This goes for any service thou. What if I want to buy ebooks and I have to deposit bitcoins first then purchase them. They could take my money for no reason. That is why you have do research before and see what is going on. Trust will be the factor that separates companies from other companies.

On the other side: porn producers/affiliates now deal with excessive chargebacks... It happens very regularly a paysite can prove a member purchased a membership, logged in, downloaded videos for a couple of days, then charged back his fee... Most of the time, the paysite loses, and people have downloaded their content for free...
