Uuummm, this stinks if true, to think I supported you with btc.
See post #1658 So you mean a poker player doesn't win every single time they play? Wow. Scandalous. Ever consider he might have been staked? Nah, that never happens. . .

Wait, I am confused why is the thread all of a sudden negative now ? Did Micon blow up the funds online ?
EDIT: oh boy, just saw, seems he blew up 500$ on stars yesterday. Can someone confirm it really is the same Micon ?

The site and ability to play for btc is still a very positive thing, no doubt.

http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/showthread.php?9350-IS-SEALS-WITH-CLUBS-DONKDOWN-(Update-Micon-charged-with-a-felony-in-Nevada)/page83there is a guy found micon has bet on pokerstars and lost 500 usd on a tour. They don't trust micon now because they think micon has enough money, he doesn't need fund to defense at all. If he really needs 100k USD fund, he should't gamble there, and lost 530 in a tournament is abnormal, it seems that he is not lacking of money actually.

Seriously, guys, it's the $500 8-game. It's possible Micon might be -ev in it but if so it's by $20 or so. He didn't "blow $500." He's continuing to play poker, which involves risk.
I mean, OK, I may be biased cause he's lost multiple BTC to me in the past. But if playing poker was a good idea for him last month (I don't have an opinion) it's still a good idea now.
I guess I should add that I've played against Micon in BTC cash games on Gambit and later on SwC for very comparable amounts of money for months. This is consistent with his prior play, so the stakes don't suggest that he's playing with donated funds.

Bryan Micon is a serial scammer. Anyone "investing" in him is a rube and deserves to lose their money.
Why would anyone trust Bryan Micon? he's shown time and again that he's a shitty poker player and has scammed people all his life.

If you think you'll be dry on money in the next months, you definitely can't afford a 500$ 8-game, even if poker is your life. He might not be playing with donated funds, but 500$ is 500$.

The problem is the appearance of impropriety. If he's rolled for very very tough $500 MTTs then he doesn't need to crowdfund a couple of grand for "legal funds". If he isn't rolled for very very tough $500 MTTs then playing above his bankroll is a straight punt, ESPECIALLY if he's concerned about upcoming legal bills, enough to ask for donations.

This is a very silly assertion. If he bleeds off his bankroll, how does he make money in the future? I mean, I'm skeptical of the donation thing. Don't get me wrong. But I'm not more skeptical because he played a poker tournament at the same risk level he's been playing all along. (Less risk than playing 10 mBTC pineapple with me, probably.)

Seems Micon started playing on Stars only back in March after leaving US , and just because he played on Pokerstars, doesn't mean he just blew it up on a gamble. He seems to have good stats on PS, specially in the last 2 months as well. He might just find poker +EV for himself, if he considers himself to be a good player, and might consider that a way to raise his funds through that . I don't see anything wrong with that.

To put it in another context, everyone here seemed to be perfectly OK with Micon playing on SwC before the charges. To me playing on his own site is a much more serious thing to worry about.

Maybe now he needs the money. He might start playing on his own site against the players, through another account . You guys might want to be careful while playing now.

To be properly rolled for this MTT, one would need at LEAST a 50k poker BR. If you have a 50k poker BR it's very very very logical that you have plenty in savings for a liferoll (you aren't playing on a 50k poker BR with a 1k life BR right). Thus then, if he is properly rolled for this MTT (which he's played every week for the last three weeks), it's very logical to think that his liferoll is big enough that crowdfunding a couple of grand isn't a factor. For the record, I do agree with you about the playing-on-his-own-site thing. That is very shady behavior and is a big reason why I stayed out of the bigger MTTs on the site.

That's ridiculously conservative bankroll management there.

ZeroCloo is probably clueless. A thing to keep in mind is that for a vast majority of professional poker players, their net worth is their bankroll. Nevertheless, it's absurd to gamble away money in a game where your edge isn't that big when you state yourself that you will be dry and that you need help.

That's the problem, he thinks he's much better than he actually is. That's why donating any money to him or bankrolling him is one of the dumbest -EV moves you can make.
