There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

So GPU mining doesn't work yet? I am only getting ~240 kH/s with an i7 2600 using 8 threads..

Also I enjoy how quickly the Ziftr 'social pool software' idea got completely railroaded Wink

Thanks for these pools. Our ziftr pool wasn't really planned to be used with CPU miners and the two didn't want to talk to each other today. We're still working on it though.

I pointed my personal miners (previously solo mining) over at this one to help jump start it a bit and maybe get some of the network hashrate distributed a little more.

whoa wait small print alert:

Quote
As part of our launch, we're giving away 300 million ziftrCOINs to the first 8 million people who sign up and selling 50 million ziftrCOINs through a presale. We're guaranteeing a minimum redemption value of $1 per coin for up to 5% of each transaction conducted within Ziftr's retailer network when ziftrCOIN is valued at less than $1 on the open market. Please see below to learn how these coins will be distributed.

so that means on the open market, a ZRC should be worth 5% of $1.00 :{

The impression we have is that users are enjoying the CPU mining. It's like the "good ol' days." Because of this we're trying to hold out on the GPU mining as long as we can. This is also giving us time to make our GPU mining software more efficient and user friendly. If someone releases a GPU miner though, or if we suspect people are using them, we plan to release ours to everyone.

Social pools were meant to go with our original mining algorithm, Sign to Mine. Though testing and feedback we found out that people didn't really like the concept of social pools or sign to mine as we had envisioned them (and we had some problems with it ourselves), so we scrapped the idea.

I've stopped my cpu miners. It's quite possible that it's the dev who is mining with gpu miner.

Wow what are you mining with? That is like half of the whole nethash, i did not expect so much more Power on that low diff Port.

Solo is probably better until i have a high diff Port

He is probably running ./minerd on a number of different PCs. If he is an IT guy at some company he can just install and run it in the background every terminal there! Smiley
