bitcoin is not dead and never will be dead, as even if the price would go down to a few cents per each it would still be a currency as at least a small amount of people would be interested in it including me

this is also proven by some other example like terracoin, despite many think that old altcoin are dead they are still there used for p&d, so in the worst case bitcoin will be used as an investments only by a niche market

something like this simply can not die

That's true. The whole cryptoworld is based on BTC. BTC has the most users, highest volume. No chance to be changed with whatever
they are depending on the price not on its value so that they can say bitcoin is dead because of its price. Thats all the reason, and theres no more reason.
yeah. that's true. i've just forgotten to put it there

Every investment good works in cycles. We are now close to one long negative cycle. Of course that the interest has vained a bit when prices are going down for a long time.

Just look at the VC fundings. They are breaking all the records this year. Do you think that business people would invest money in Bitcoin if Bitcoin was dying!

People (and by people i mean the clueless herd) can't focus their attention beyond the price of an asset to derive if its or not valuable. Meanwhile intelligent people keep buying cheap BTC and whales keep dropping money on VC fundings.

I completely agree, price is not the only thing. Especially not in the asset this young and revolutionary. For example this year, on most positive news, the price kept dropping. This is a great way to hide all the progress and for the most powerful people to load with cheap coins.

When Bitcoin was 600+, everybody was crying why is so expensive and praying to God while preaching how they would buy all the cheap coins when/if price crashes.

Now when we got  this correction, everybody is crying how the Bitcoin is dying. I guess this is just a human nature, nevdr satisfied.

Yes, and the reason is the price fluctuation in bitcoins and that is the main reason that why people have started to believe that bitcoin is dead, but Still we cannot predict or comment that it is dead.

Mainly people keep close watch on bitcoins and little price down make them feel that its going to survive in the future. But We should give some more time to bitcoin as it will regain its position in coming years.

I don't think many people think bitcoin is dead.  Even at a value of 270 per btc that is far from dead.  Were talking about a decent amount of money depending on your holdings.

I think we can all agree were far from dead, and seem to slowly go up in value.

so in the worst case bitcoin will be used as an investments only by a niche market

The worst case will be dirt cheap and no value on it anymore. By value I mean that you can even convert it to any FIAT currency anymore however the actual value is still there. Security is a value itself and even if the price is dirt cheap , you can always use it to store your funds in form of BTC

I think we can all agree were far from dead, and seem to slowly go up in value.

Price of BTC should never be use as a standard measurement to measure if BTC is dead or not and this is practically wrong . The value is dependant with its price depending on how you look at it. If you are seeing it from the point of view as an investment then you are base-ing it from its price however due note that not everyone's point of view is the same. For some people, security is a value thus BTC provide a top security which is dependant from its price

Exactly the people who are using it, will continue to use it no matter what  the world speaks about the bitcoins, as they are using it and have faith in it, and as a bitcoin user we should always have faith and should support bitcoins then only it will regain its value.

Just one of the advantages is that it's more efficient regarding international money transfer

The biggest drawback of Bitcoin is its volatility, it gives a lot of inconvenience when calculating them.

It is not even that volatile anymore.. The Euro and USD also had their fair share of swings.. Dropping % points a day..

it's more about the fact that many lost money with the last big pump, this is holding way back those people and many other from buying it, there is no other real reason, the rest it's only an excuse

It is extremely volatile, what are you talking about? Bitcoin has everyday changes in price of 10$ up or down, that's not good for any business, of course you could calculate the price of bitcoin at any given moment but how do you know afterwards the price is not going down by 30$ thus making you lose a lot of money depending on how many bitcoins you accepted.

It's holding steady, but I would not call that dead.  We have even went up to 300 in not far past.  And of course dropped to current.

When I think of dead I think of sub 100 numbers.  That hopefully will not happen.

I think that there is nothing to make panic about the bitcoin price.
It is normal as we know from the past that the bitcoin price change more often that any other currency.
So ~280$ is not a bad price at the moment. It can be better of course.

I think the Greece people has been known about the bitcoin.
Since they have limits on their banks to withdraw.
The bitcoin would be perfect for them to be a main currency on their country.

The brouhaha created by the Greek crisis has evaporated. It seems that Greece will stick to Euro, and will not default on their debt repayments. The exchange rates are down again, after rising around 30% as a result of the crisis. Now Bitcoin badly needs another Greece like situation to re-establish itself in the currency market.
