Just heard back from SFards. Doesn't look like they are doing any demo or evaluation units at this time, unfortunately. They are doing MOQ 100 for the initial sales run due to limited quantity, and have not yet established shipping date or price.

I got the same answer to my email.

So I will pass on this.  Good luck to those that buy it.

Nice to finally get an update.  Disappointed to see MOQ is 100 units and no price or release date set.  If they were to give some definitive details on price and send someone an evaluation unit, I am sure someone would be willing to set up a group buy that would easily hit the MOQ.  As it stands now, guess I'll have to wait til they begin selling them in smaller quantities or pick one up from a reseller.

Whether there will be reviews written or not, dependent on pricing (and bearing in mind the much vaunted S7 is on the horizon too), I'm still in for an EU group buy should one go ahead.

sfards "should be" a different kind of beast to bitmain, so though I do not expect to get the rig free, I have high hopes that they'll not price exhorbitantly, but I also know that being a dual mode miner, they are in a position (and rightly so) to charge a bit of a premium for that. Here's to crossing my fingers ....

Got an e-mail from Sfards to go ahead with a group buy. However, I'd like Philipma to make a review - his reviews show a lot of the potential of the gear he's testing.

Btw: Funny typo in the Sfards-email: SP100 :-)

Great news .....! I've only been crossing my fingers for a few minutes, so I'll extrapolate that good omen on the pricing too.

I really dont understand why people trash talk on phil review. Phil is a well know reviewer that do it perfectly.
Doesnt matter if he sell gear after. He didnt beg he propose his help to make a review.

I will not buy any miner without review.

MOQ of 100. ahahah without any review. Well good luck on that.

Again nice centralisation of the mining.

Really sad about how this is going.

only Fools Rush In. i'd wait out especially early batches & there could be other options too.

No demo + No review + No price + No delivery date + No individual/smaller scale sales + No PSU + No further info = No confidence + No Buy + No ROI

Not trying to be mean or an A*S. My apologies to SFARDS (if you were offended) but it's just the truth & how i feel atm.

I would usually agree with you here.. But i have owned both wiibox bitcoin miners (of which 18/20 are still functioning) and im still running 37 out of 40 of the gridseed gridminer a1 (24mhs). Those of which that are down is due to burnt psu. I have a lot of confidence in their products.. Im not sure why they are basically forcing it out in batches of 100 except to maybe reduce the hassle of shipping.. I live in the usa and if someone could setup a group buy in the usa id be down for at least one or two depending on price.. once i can confirm they are good units i will hopefully be able to swap out my gridminers and start selling them off.. Send me a PM try to keep me in the loop on this group buy.. id also be willing to purchase one if the group buy is only in EU. I had the email returned but only to get the same info.

Best Regards

I wonder if it will be possible to tune Scrypt and SHA256 separately?  I'm guessing that it's just based on the frequency of the whole chip, so probably not, but it would be neat if we could crank up the hashrate on the Scrypt side while keeping SHA256 side more power efficient if Scrypt were to be paying better...

I've never even tried to dual mine with my original five chip gridseed, so this is hearsay at best, but it was my understanding that the two modes are completely separate and can be tuned as such. Can anyone confirm or clarify this? (tempted to try)

Get Paid Crypto To Walk or Drive

Well I got an email back overnight from them.  There wasn't much additional information that they haven't already stated here.  I responded with a few more questions, such as price, but my confidence is waning as I really don't want to have to go through the hassle of a group buy when we have no idea what the products are like (especially if no one will be allowed to review them).

They don't seem to have a price in mind per unit yet, which will make it hard to start a group buy and fill 100 units before they are sold out of this original, "limited batch".  I assume by the time pricing is released and a group buy is filled with 100 units, they will probably be sold out.

Will keep you guys posted if/when I hear more.

TBH, it's a bit troubling and seemingly out-of-touch with the market, to offer a brand new product to this community, without the opportunity to evaluate them prior to committing to a purchase of 100 units :|

And to be clear, I did inquire about purchasing a single unit for review on these forums, and was not given an option due to the MOQ 100.

Oh well. Game on ! Looking forward to these guys becoming available. Bitmain needs some competition.

I would def. be interested in a Group Buy especially if OgNasty is doing it-- count me in for 10+ depending on price....

price has importance but I would really like to see some good reviews on this item.

paying say 750 usd (I think higher)  sounds pretty good price.  but if the gear does 1500gh and 40 mhs and spends 1100 watts

it is not a good deal.  Minimum 100 order with no recourse for low specs is making me gun shy.

I would suggest a few good demos of the gear are more important then doing a group buy.

A) prisma had fire issues.
B) spondolllies sp20 was a 1200gh good efficiency miner 1400 so so   and 1600 power burner.

C) if these chips scale like the sp20 running them at 1400gh and 40 mhs may be the realistic number.

I would hate for a lot of us buying and hoping for 1700gh and 50mhs and having to settle for a lot less.

remember  gridseeds never did dual mining well.

So I do urge some verified demos reviews etc

Yes yes Dogie need to review.  He no beg over and over like some others......

yeah thats right he should do a review, but if he is the only pre reviewer I won't buy one of these.

I want more then one reviewer.

That was a politically correct way of stating that, I was thinking i would prefer someone that will actually put the miner through some stress testing and not just a bunch of pretty pictures and regurgitating the instruction book--lol

I have seen many bad mining gear.  Under spec slow delivery .  I would hate for a lot of us to buy 100 or 200 in a pre order and not like the gear.

We now have a newbie calling me a beggar.  So I ask why?
If the gear runs well send out some review units. I don't see any posts from the company. I see a puppet dissing me.  Why?

Philip has been one hell of a resource here. I don't see any begging going on. Nothing he said implies that HE wanted a review units.

So I'll throw my two cents in, sfards. Send one to Dogie and to Phillip. Whatever you lose in shipping and those two units will pay for itself a hundred times over if the units perform well under those two gentelmen's reviewing process.

MOQ of 100 give small hobbyist a hard time to buy it.

I could accept 2 or maybe 3 for MOQ but 100. Company will buy it or you will have to buy it from a reseller and then paid more.  Undecided

But I have no need to review one others can do good reviews.

OgNasty doe review and gb. Simples.

Dogie do no two review.

no knock on OgNasty or dogie  , but I would like to see sfards words not a newbie's

And like I said I don't need to review this, I offered to review it. In fact I would offer to review it and mail it back to sfards rep here in the USA.

Which means zero financial gain on my part and I would lose the postage mailing it back to  sfards rep in the usa.

That makes me about as neutral as you will get in the world of BTC-LTC.

And I made this offer months ago.  Go back and find the post.  And I was attacked and insulted back then by a newbie.  Which prompted me to withdraw the offer.

I find it interesting that as soon as I mention reviewing this gear newbies turn up to attack me.

Why?

Simples you beg and beg.  If wes need help with rental wes ask you....  Now you offer to mail back.... so you does not want to pays for unit?

Og and Dogie both no beg.  You needy.

I know I'm a bit late to the fight here, and I usually don't bother with obvious trolls. But...
You're full of shit.

Philip has been an asset to miners in general for a LONG time. Not only that, he will help out a newbie without making them feel like an idiot. nearly a year ago, when I was making stupid mistakes with my gridseed, he very kindly helped me out via PM for no return. Just because he was cool. He and I are nothing to each other. Not friends or enemies, just miners on the same forum. Don't besmirch the reputation of a man who has earned a good one.

Sometimes I gotta wonder what drugs you trolls take...

I couldn't agree more.  Phil has been an extremely valuable resource to both newbies and vets alike.  He constantly goes out of his way to answer questions.  He provides good reviews on gear and gives a nice "real-world" flavor to them (i.e. talking about the noise a miner makes in terms that are easily relatable).  Oh, and manufacturers have previously chosen him to receive and review their gear (hello Spondoolies).

He's earned the trust of not only the manufacturers, but also the community.
