They will get enough buyers from people who are just desperate for a new toy and don't care.  They'll mine LTC with them even if they aren't flying off the shelves.  The writing was on the wall, no one was going to like the price right off the bat.

Fine by me.  I sold all my ASICs since summer is upon us in the states.  Hopefully by fall, LTC price stabilizes and Bitmain releases the S7 to give them competition.  It would be perfect timing to stock up on new space heaters before the snow starts falling.
Wouldn't be better to buy in summer when prices are low and supply high and even if less efficient use them for heat come winter time and when summer comes build summer rigs?

Not enough miners use ASICs for heat to have any noticeable effect on demand and price.  Most home miners try to keep them out of their living space anyway.  I have never noticed a correlation between prices of mining gear rising or falling depending on the season.

Anyway, I won't buy an ASIC specifically for heat.  It is just an added perk if the prices are reasonable on the right ASIC at the right time.  My S5s and SP20s kept me nice and toasty all winter long.  My house is only 400 square feet in total, no basement.  It doesn't take much to heat it.  When I first got into mining, I didn't realize just how much heat this stuff can give off.  Summer of 2013 with 7 7950s running 24/7 was hell.

I could not find anything to suggest they ever finished development on the L1, but maybe you have some info I am unaware of.

Just like you can not find anything about the S:Next-one, they are self mining with the L1 ......

So basically a free loan from pre-orders to get things rolling

Nice racket

Did you say racket? You ain't seen nothing yet!
What with all the disgruntled ex-employees tossing a fair amount of the brown-stuff about, its bound to get more interesting ..... just keep your eyes peeled!
Don't know if I would want to keep my eyes peeled in the middle of a sh!t show but I do think the second they cut doggie from the payroll we will have a lot more information. Something tells me Doggie knows a lot about his Bitmain partners.

Even if he does know a lot about partners he no doubt signed a NDA.  So he will not be passing on information such as partners.

I could be wrong.  But I just don't see Dogie breaking his NDA, and I'm guessing he signed one with Bitmain I do not know for a fact.
I do have an NDA with Bitmain, and although it allows me to make disclosures under good will its still an NDA. However there aren't any conspiracies to whistle-blow on, its pretty mundane in Bitmain land Tongue.

I don't mean anything bad on it.   I guess I just surprised some of the things you said don't fall within their confidential info area on their NDA.  I like you for it though Smiley you are who I found out there would not be a S6 from reading your posts.

Anyways best of luck to you.

And as far as SFards I really hope we get some concrete information.  I would love to know dates, and prices.   The prototype looks great on first page.  I hope it hits production soon at a fair price.

No official links. They contacted me directly since im running a bigger farm and looking for a new supply of BTC miners and either it haves to be the Bitmain S7 or the Sfard, but communication wise they halt big time.
Ihave asked for price based on 200TH+ orders but no response.
I told them as well that the price makes it not worth it for a farm like ours even though we have a relatively low KW price. Told them that it was ok that the price for trials was higher but not when we start to make larger orders....No response!
Next step is to make a deal with Avalon or Spondoolies, if we do not get any response from them.
We are not interested in the scrypt part, since we are running a 4k Mhash scrypt already and those 47Mhash pr miner does not count in the big picture.
I will post further info if we get any response from them.

Thanks for the info. For an MOQ of 3 is not bad at all, but at that price (and to a big buyer) it is ridiculous. I'll keep an eye out on what you may garner from them, but I am starting to seriously think of giving up on waiting on these.

I'll get at least one to play with, as I try to do with most of the miners.

I'm currently checking how to make a batch of the 2 chips miner.

And maybe if I can find more than 24h in a day and more than 7 days in a week, I'll have a look at an 8-10 chips board, but it's unlikely for now.

I contacted Sfards some time ago regarding p2pool compatibility & pricing, they seemed very keen at the time to test their hardware out with p2pool & asked me for more info & a node to test with, which I duly provided them. However, since then they have been completely silent. I've just emailed them again in the hope they can clarify things, but the pricing is so high that I doubt they will ever be competative even if their hardware does work with p2pool.

I notice it uses a fork of Pooler's cpuminer via USB & raspberry pi - which is interesting though.

So Sfards raised the price an extra 90$ and made an MOQ of 3 and max of 10, sounds like they have no damn clue on what they want to do. MOQ of 3 and Max of 10 is a really dumb thing and especially at this price point. Lets just hope they don't try and take preorders.

I don't believe they will do preorder. If they are starting selling a few units from stock, they are most likely the first units produced, and I hope they'll sell from larger batches soon.

Regarding the price, for any miner from any manufacturer, I'd prefer to pay 3*1290$ instead of 10*1200$ to evaluate the product.
And even if i was 1*1400$, I'd still buy just one to play with it.

BTW free sample for review would be even better, even if my stupid greedy country will charge me 20% on the value of the "free sample" including shipping cost.
Totally off topic, I even had to pay 20% import taxes on a few of my own breakout boards returned with small defects by a customer.

Back on topic.
I'm not speaking of ROI, I just want one to do the following in no particular order:
-play with it
-try to improve it
-see how it likes over/undervolting
-stress it
-break it
-fix it...
