So maybe the "mass production" in the title isn't quite accurate, or only for small values of "mass"?

While it's interesting to watch, it seems unlikely that SFARDS is going to change things much given the prices they charge, and the small scope of "mass production", at least at the moment.

Well it probably means the chips are (and have been) in mass production, but there is still a delay until chips -> machines.

I have a question would you want this for 1290 with more to ship say 110 or 1400 total comes sept 1

or an a2  for 1139 comes in 4 days.

Specs on this for ltc only are 200 watts 54mh

specs on the A2 are 1000 watts and 110mh.

on paper the A2   breaks even in under 170 days

this breaks even in  348 days.

I only ask because I just got an offer for an a2 at 1139 shipped to me.

I can use paypal to buy it  which will drop it a bit.

I can see what has happened here the seller  has replaced all his a2's with sfards.

If he gets 1139 with the shipping he is getting a free upgrade. since most likely he got his sfards in bulk at a discount.

I am sure other will get the same email I did.

So what electricity cost did you use for your calculations? Surely not your NJ rates of roughly $.18?

Isn't the LTC halving in less than 45 days now?

I know so little about LTC, it's pathetic.

no a few posts back I did very optimistic roi's for the sfards

I used 8 cents a kwatt

0 diff growth

 and a flat price.

here it is

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985400.msg11906818#msg11906818

while the gear sound good cause it can do 2  types of coins sha-256 and scrypt.

the sfards sales pages shows a drop off in efficiency if you run them at the same time.

So I did the better 1 coin type numbers to get roi's

My email told me the a2's will ship from the northwest Washington state.  they get 4 to 7 cent power in that state.

I would be stunned if the seller did not acquire a lot of sfards to replace the a2's.

If would be nice if they posted a running sfards but most likely we won't know any new info on them anytime soon.

In other words, pretty optimistic for most folks. I assume you didn't include halving, since there's no mention?

ohh  no  my numbers are silly good, but if you are a farm with 100 or so a2's and sell them now upgrading to the sfards that cost you well under the 1290 plus shipping it is good for you.

If I were that farm  I would have done exactly what they did.  swap sfards for a2's

Now I have 2 fact or  exhibits:
a)  a batch of sfards has sold out.
b)  an email to buy discounted A2's.

The conclusion I drew could be wrong
I don't really care much since this gear will not work for me.

I can't do any mining of large watts 5 kwatts to 7 kwatts in house.

Until Oct when winter rates start in NJ

Guys and gals, Gridseed priced their miners to NEVER ROI! Only those looking to mine at any cost will buy at first, eventually they will drop prices fast enough to keep up with actual profitability but nowhere near when they finally start shipping. There are plenty of people willing to overpay so they don't care about losing customers. The G-blade was $3k when they released it, within weeks it was less than half that. They are not going to sell us gear for reasonable prices when there are those out there willing to pay unreasonable prices just as they did with the gridseed miners. Resellers will be their customers, and they will have buyers willing to overpay. That was how GAW became a "company" so they will repeat the same profitable process for these miners.

However I have little faith in LTC, price or purpose, after halving and no interest from bulls speculating, the price will drop and this being the most profitable miner will be one of the few left to mine LTC profitably which will lower the difficulty. Nobody else is working on scrypt miners, so you may have an opportunity to mine a shitcoin at lower operating costs than anyone else for a long period of time, which will allow you to recoup some/most of your investment.  Not a reason to pay more than the miner is worth, but a possible added value to the miner that MIGHT justify paying a premium for the miner.

I wish I could tell you fuck off you are just a troll.

Fact is I pretty much completely agree with your post.

Trolling has been getting bad lately in certain threads.

SFards really needs communication.  I'm surprised they are not on here trying to sell.  Even if next batch is a over a month away... if it was me I would be trying to sell that batch before the day comes.

Just the discreetness is odd.   I hope they come out selling and sell for cheaper then reported.  But guess we will see.

If they already sold out the 1st batch, what's the urgency for them to try and sell here? Maybe when they can't sell whatever they make at $1200+ per unit.

I still there  there's a $999 Christmas special (almost 30% off), in the future..... Smiley

$999 Christmas special?

*ROFLMAOSC* that would STILL be very overpriced, it would be overpriced as a Black Thursday special even with an extra month to fail to ROI.

SFARDS has an "order" page on their website now under the ...Products I think? .... tab, but it's "sold out" and probably will be so 'till August sometime.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

.....

After A1 phase, we did 28nm A2 ASIC PLUS the official A2 Terminator miner design together so that there won't be another Bitmine like miner fiasco which hurt ASIC sales, which was better.

The latest development is that we are moving on to the A3 ASIC and A4 ASIC design already. Both in 14nm and already taped out with over 60% power saving over the 28nm generation. Anyone interested in those are free to contact us. I guess we are the 1st to move to 14nm at this point and we are confident A3 and A4 are both gonna work great.

.....

Never mind sfards with the ridiculous pricing thus far .... seen this? Already taped-out ....!
No wonder July is nearly gone (having been promised an early July release) and we've heard NOTHING about the much vaunted S:Next-one from bitmain either!

This is all about the money.  With current prices stalled under 285 usd.  The builders will mine rather then sell gear.

They could be right as this behavior has kept difficulty under 55 bill for months.

Nov 05 2014   39,603,666,252   10.05%   283,494,086 GH/s

Jul 11 2015   51,076,366,303   3.39%   365,618,871 GH/s

in 18 jumps   we have done an average of  1.49%

basically the builders have decided to slow production of gear and self mine.

Is this good? If you have cheap power it is okay.  If your power is costly it has squeezed you out.

Mid August, sounds like a preorder to me, it feels shady when they're taking money that early before the actual product gets shipped out. Sfards is going down more and more in my mind.

And if this is true they not only sold out they did it at the 1200 dollar price.   I was not expecing that at all.

I wonder if they had one big client or how the sale went.

I think they sold the whole thing to 1 company that mines in the state of washington.  this company is now off loading A2 gear.

I wonder if they had one big client or how the sale went.

Presuming they actually sold anything at all, I've not heard of or seen anything concrete yet, just pure speculation. Their lack of communication both here & via email is a little disturbing, my little red flags are growing bigger & bigger every day  Wink

I'm actually not expecting anything from them soon, if at all. At least that way, if they do decide to post/email/produce something - it will be a pleasant surprise, albeit an expensive one.

I got a email a while back.  I went to try to email again a few day's ago to go about buying one and did not get word back.

I thought I would overspend on 1 to try it for the fun of it and show it on forums, and I could not even get one.

No wonder July is nearly gone (having been promised an early July release) and we've heard NOTHING about the much vaunted S:Next-one from bitmain either!
S6 or S7 (whatever they decide to call it) might have been planned for release due to thinking sfards was going to try and compete and now since it isn't they're delaying?
That does not make sense to me ... unless bitmain have become generous and temporarily left market to sfards to clear their expensive stock, otherwise, why would they be lumbered with a non-productive stock of rigs simply because there is no competition? (....  being good to the network health aka network hash? thats far fetched !)
