underpromise//overdeliver

It's crazy times, man! I really don't see that AM is delivering anything right now! See how everyone's all tensed up and stressed out? The people showing some doubts get shunned immediately. Sure, they can't deliver any proof, but when everything's indicating that AM isn't selling at a profitable price anymore, they are being insulted. Not nice at all, man.

we dont know squatt. if ever, i doubt FC would sell at a non profitable price. the cat rebounds: making partnerships, expand franchisees, upgrade solo mining... solutions are legions. just like bitcoin, AM is here to stay.

Source?

Where is everything that indicates AM is selling at a loss?

They're those competitors from Israel, right? Yeah right, I heard they were at that conference. They always played by the rules and never spread uncertainties. Why would they lie in this only case? I guess it's too hard to believe for some people that AM is really just cutting losses, selling at or slightly above cost and focus on gen4. That'll mean no divs though. I do get why people are pissed. They even ignore the offer for $0.35 on that chinese board for a June delivery.

yea right, competitors doesnt lie. they're all hanging around hands in hands.
even if not from chip sales, divs will come with franchisees plugging in.
anyho, i'll keep my underpromise/overdeliver.

some of you people forgetting that even if it is the case that the sales are not optimal (not proven), that the chips will go to self mining instead...

... next friedcat announcement we will have information about sales, and about self mining. The question is which of the 2 is more weighted to providing profit/divs at this time... we will know soon(ish... Smiley )

curious - has anyone tried to contact friedcat since the last round of questions were sent to him? do pumpkin or jutarul have any insider info? I'm not impatient, but I can see a lot of people are so would be good to give the cat a nudge and to hear opinions/facts/rumours from those more in the know/closer to the source.

Let's say we didn't get any divs from gen 3 and FC used the profit to pay for the gen 4 mask and chips, would that be a bad thing? When FC last answered shareholders questions he said:

Brief Answers to Shareholder Questions

6) What is the progress on gen4?
It is 28nm and has two major improvements: the first one is to fix the design errors we had with 40nm (which made our silicon data two times worse than simulated data). We believe that 0.35W/G at rated speed of 400MHz would be achievable in 40nm if no mistakes were made before. The second one is the technology improvement from 40nm to 28nm in terms of density, speed and power.

We are on the stage of evaluating the final design choices by running the physical design flow on different settings.

So gen 4 isn't far off, it does need paying for and it should be a far better chip because they've fixed the design error which led to gen 3 under-performing. I'd be very happy to learn that FC had paid for the gen 4 mask and a couple of batches already.

exactly! like if FC wont use those 60+Ph chips or sell them at non profit... + mining means BTC revenues, no filthy dollars to deal with Cheesy

exactly again! next thing you know, gen4 kicking in by fall Cheesy

How about we ask FC how many PH he sold in the last 2 months for a better answer?

Come on now.  We can't do that.  Friedcat's busy.

Your estimates are way off. Just took the biggest number and added up they give me 54PH/s. Doesn't it seems a bit too much considering that from June until now the network grew only with ~40PH/s? Even the minimum numbers are a bit off. 25PH/s is 60% of the 40PH deployed in the last months. It's more than all other manufacturers combined!

Considering that KnC launched the Neptunes and Bitfury is working on 3 DC (Georgia, Iceland and Finland) I really think that the numbers are just pure imagination.

54PH sold does not mean 54PH is added to the network. It could take weeks before chips start hashing. (longer if you are xbtec)

Also 40PH is way off. Network was 80PH on june1 and is now 140PH.

I think we should use as reference for the network speed only the last difficulty adjustment because the "live" hashrate of 140PH isn't actually accurate and it includes the variance in it. At the moment of this post the "live" network speed is at 133PH which proves my point.

It may take weeks before chips start hashing, but it will also take months before AM sells their 100PH worth of chips.

Last time I've heard the "underpromise/overdeliver" was coming from KnC and they failed badly. They are still behind shipping Batch 1 units.

That train has sailed as AM doesn't have the money and the deployment capabilities to deploy a big scale self mining operation. FC could do it right as soon as he had chips in hand, but he didn't do it.

Exactly! Since deploying large amounts of machines is a difficult endeavor, he chose to sell the chips. Unfortunately they didn't perform as well as expected. So now when he's looking for ways to deploy hashrate he has nothing prepared. Man, he was just unlucky.
By the way, what does your name mean. It sounds like you're on the road all day long and when you get home you are completely stressed out!

Hey, at least everyone is talking.
It seems when everyone starts flipping out, the cat says something.

C'mon Cat.
Say something,
I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one,
if you want me to
Anywhere,
I would've followed you
Say something,
I'm giving up on you

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

Sometimes I imagine friedcat being an actual cat sitting in front of his computer and planning and designing new ASICs. Sometimes he gets distracted by his mouse because, well, it's a mouse! And the sometimes people from spondoolies or bitfury use laser pointers to distract him. We can only theorize about what went wrong this time, but it may or may not involve catnip.
Also, I imagine jimmothy being a sloth.

Due to ASICMINER failure to address and respond to common shareholders dividends and lack of information issues, a lot here are expecting the price to fall down to IPO price per share.

Bitcoin risen multitudes and multitudes in value since then so even if you overestimate, The IPO price that the shares are expected to fall to is around 0.02374BTC ($15).

That is until the actual dispersement of dividends of gen 4. That is a minimum of 3-4 months along the road............

(I am just gonna leave this here...)

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

let me guess, you put an order at around 0,023 or scooped it up below 0,15.. well done, cant believe people actually sold into those bids.

Nope. I am exiting ASICMINER for now. I just feel like I am obligated to share my opinion here.

and btw everyone here knows I don't spread FUD to gain profits. I spread real justified fears for the chaos, because it breeds order. And now ASICMINER is NOT in order!

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

i'd have thought you'd have more than couple hundred shares on havelock to fully exit AM.
