How can anyone be so sure this coin is so great? Because dev said so and produced a roadmap? Whats a Masternode?

staking mobile wallet with nodes released in less than 3 weeks, a node holds collateral/acts like hidden service to help process payments and stealth transactions.
why people like it is the continual updates at the pace we have received them, and that at least 20% of the supply is in nodes there are ~230

In what ways does a node act as collateral, can you give me a technical explanation? How does this "help" process stealth transactions?

UPDATE: Did some reading. As I understand it the Masternode acts as a 3rd party decentralized node that signs off on transactions. I am wondering, though, if the Masternode can be viewed by everyone in the network and everyone can see where the funds are being sent, how can that ever be anonymous? I haven't even read a good technical analysis by someone other than the dev. Why should everyone just trust him?

I have cloned a coin before. I am almost tempted to just clone a coin and then tell everyone I'm going to do this, this, this, and this, please buy. Then dump on everyone and pop bottles. I admit I bought a little over a thousand of these and I was going to buy another bitcoin worth today because of the high volume that it has had and the point of the dip its in, but then I started questioning myself and thought I would ask some people here who are ACTUALLY knowledgeable.

You need a certain amount of coins to qualify for running a masternode. The only reason for this is to prevent a malicious agent from spamming the network with their nodes. This masternode scheme has been forked from Dash, in Dash the masternodes carry out specialized functions within the network. Like coin mixing and instant transactions, the dev has said he is trying to implement dark send which would allow for anonymous transactions, though presently the masternodes do not carry out any of these specialized functions like they would in Dash. The truth is this coin presently does not have any features that allow for the anonymization of transactions. I am also starting to question whether there is enough incentive for the masternode network to run a large enough number of nodes so that the security of the masternode network can not be compromised, but I digress. For the record I am running my own masternode since I do think this is an interesting project we will have to wait and see what the developer will deliver in the coming future.

And how many functions are CRAVEs masternodes capable of carrying out? What are they?

The truth is this coin presently does not have any anonymization features.

You forgot to mention you can connect via Tor,  but depends on your confidence of Tor I suppose.

From op:
Quote
Hidden service seed node on virtual port 30108:

d5jxp6ajbjbrpdhd.onion

If you have TOR you can either connect only to tor nodes:

./crave-qt -onlynet=Tor -listen=0 -irc=0 -proxy=127.0.0.1:9050 -addnode=d5jxp6ajbjbrpdhd.onion:30108

Or connect to it as well as normal nodes:

./crave-qt -proxy=127.0.0.1:9050 -tor=127.0.0.1:9050 -addnode=d5jxp6ajbjbrpdhd.onion:30108

I did actually awnser that question with my prevous comment. Presently the masternodes are not carrying out any specialised fuctions on the network other then acting as full nodes.

You are correct, I should have said this coin does not presently have any anonymization of transactions, which tends to be the focus for anonymous coins since it is relatively easy to obfuscate your IP even using something as simple Bitcoin.

Well in the case of transactions, you forgot this feature..

I think that is also meant to help obfuscate your IP address and is not related to the anonymization of transactions.

I think you mean anonymization of addresses,  seeing how it clearly states "transactions" in the feature description.

In turn,  there is framework for stealth addresses.. you can see it in the client, I'm not sure if its working as I haven't used it yet.

stealth add. can be made have to test the console commands for it or use gui. AFAIK there's more in the code at present for it than multisig functions will have to look into it

wondering if coin control is involved

Fair enough, there are stealth addresses, though not a particularly hard hitting feature compared to the competition at least, compared to ring signatures and coin mixing for example. Though it would be very cool if dark send is implemented in CRAVE since we do have the masternode network to support it. Cool

I agree more coin mixing would be great.

As far as the comment made about coin coin control by waffles,  that i've used and works great !

First POS + masternodes coin
First anon colored coin
First mobile wallet with stake + masternodes
First roadmap finished in only 2 weeks.
A great community with several known forum members and many devs developing an ecosystem for currency

Has anyone tested the colored coin feature? It connects blur coins to the TOR network and then spends them, but how are the blur coins handled with respect to the CRAVE that bought it?

Does anyone have a better explanation as to how this works?
