You can reduce the number of threads?

Sorry, I missed your original question.

In your bytecent.conf file add this: genproclimit =-x

For example genproclimit =-6

If you alter your bytecent.conf file, you will have to start Wallet.exe manually. If you use the Bytecent quick start menu to launch Wallet.exe, it will reset your bytecent.conf file.

Will an easier method be added in the next wallet update? (e.g. choose number of cores to use from a drop-down menu)

Try genproclimit=x  Where x is the number of cores you want to use.  Example, I have 16 cores on my workstation, but I limit it to 14 so other programs stay super snappy. I add this line, to the Bytecent.conf file:

genproclimit=14

Then just start the wallet manually

Bytecent 1.3 is almost done, but I will put it on the list of features for 1.4.

Currently Proof of Miner is 70. So for every hour you want to mine, you need 70 BYC in your wallet. So if you want to mine for 3 hour, you will need 140 BYC in your wallet, the first hour is "free". You have a maximum of 24 hours before having to enter the captcha code. Remember, the coins you use for Proof of Miner are NOT spent. It is similar to Proof of Stake, but the difference is your coins are NOT locked. At anytime you can send/spend your coins.

You should consider adding at least 210 BYC to your wallet, so you do not have to keep entering the captcha code every 60 minutes.

I would like to introduce our new Bytecent users to InstantBYC.

Our InstantBYC.com service is the first of its kind for digital currencies. Users in over 100 countries can buy Bytecent directly with their credit card, without the hassle of buying Bitcoin first, or using an exchange. Once your account is verified and approved, buying Bytecent only takes a few minutes. Coins are sent directly to your wallet 5-7 minutes after completing the purchase.

InstantBYC Benefits

You can buy coins in bulk at the same price: Often when you buy coins in bulk on the exchange, you will most likely get the coins at different prices. So for example:  If you want to purchase 2000 Bytecent, you might get 500 BYC at 0.00025081, 700 BYC at 0.00025500, 300 BYC at 0.00026000, and 500 BYC at 0.00026500. With instant BYC, you get all of the coins at the current value, no matter how many coins you are purchasing.

Ease of use: People new to digital currencies find the process of buying "alt coins" complex. First they have to buy Bitcoin, and then transfer their Bitcoins to an exchange, and then trade their Bitcoins for another coin. InstantBYC has taken the complexities out of the process by allowing consumers to buy Bytecent directly using their credit card. Using the InstantBYC is no more complex than using any other ecommerce website.

Secure transactions: When you purchase coins from InstantBYC.com, the coins are sent directly to your local wallet. You do not have to worry about your Bytecent being stolen from your exchange wallet.

Just a quick heads up for those using the Collaborative Mining System, please update to version 1.16 when you can.  the older versions will stop working sometime tomorrow.

New in Version 1.16b

+ significantly reduced server load
+ increased efficiency of the share speed algorithm
+ offloaded repetitive data requests to second server
+ much faster updating/notification when a new block is found
+ various fixes and patches to block some clowns who were trying to exploit the system
+ prevented system from submitting orphan blocks
+ adjusted block reward and balance calculations to be more accurate
+ added block number to block found popup message
+ added some back-end testing and diagnostic tools
+ security updates

I don't know if my computer just has problems with this, but I downloaded/installed the Bytecent launcher, clicked "Wallet/Miner" and nothing pops up... It shows up in my Task Manager as "Bytecent-Qt (OSS GUI Client for Bytecent) (32 bit) but no GUI actually pops up on my screen....
Tried reinstalling it 2 times so far -------- tried restarting my computer 4 times so far.

If it shows up in the task manager then check the taskbar (little icons next to the clock in the corner of your screen. you may need to "expand" to see hidden icons). I know there's an option to make the wallet minimize to the taskbar when minimized/closed, perhaps for whatever reason that option is enabled by default for you.

I don't know if  Vlad194 is here, or on coin blab, but your miners connected to the collaborative mining system are tripping one of automatic the fairness safeguards. It was an issue with 1.16, and is fixed in 1.16b. If you can update, ill unlock your miners asap.
