1  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation expected as high as 4% in Apr in USA on: June 15, 2021, 04:15:33 PM
According to this website the US Dollar had a 4.2% inflation rate during the month of April and for May it had 5% which I think is abnormal considering that it is more than what the USD is experiencing during the past months/years. I know that the common concept of an increase in inflation will translate to people will most likely save or invest their money to other hedges and this will most likely be the case however there is no guarantee that people who has US dollars will be focusing their money towards Bitcoin or in the crypto market in general. Other factors such as their risk appetite and other investment opportunities will also be considered and I don't think people in the US have the same way of thinking as the South Koreans where their crypto exchanges have more volume than their own stock market.
2  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-06-09 Tim Wu, Reportedly Owns Over $1M in Bitcoin on: June 11, 2021, 04:19:44 PM
I'm not sure why crypto news websites are spinning this news but it is most likely to create some noise and have some views for their website. CNBC have showed a different type of article regarding this news and they have portrayed Tim Wu as not a critic not at least how cointelegraph has portrayed Tim Wu.

“Bitcoin may be in a bubble,” he wrote, “but it is part of a much bigger trend that is here to stay: a shift in trust from government to technology.”

Though bitcoin isn’t backed by any government or reserve asset, it “might work fine as a store of value that you can sell,” Wu also wrote.

For me with this kind of opinion I don't think you can clearly say that he is a critic comparing him to other people like Jamie Dimon saying negative things about Bitcoin what Wu said is far from those.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The views of developed countries with developing countries on bitcoin on: June 09, 2021, 03:53:09 PM

Here is a screencap showing that even developing countries are leading the market together with developing countries. The stats shows the top countries leading P2P trading in terms of volume and there is several developing countries have even greater volume as compared to other developed countries in the data. Yeah you are right that obviously a lot of developed countries will have its advantages like they have different sets of priorities as well as legal advantages but if developing countries has their own citizens seeing the potential of the crypto industry as well as at least a neutral government giving them the freedom to do so you will see results like this being shown above.
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: June 07, 2021, 04:30:18 PM
I'm strongly against the idea mainly because an app version of the forum can also mean fake versions of it being spread around for mobile users. When I say fake versions it essentially means phishing apps that are designed to imitate the real app potentially fooling a lot of users who will find it online, this could just result into a lot of users losing their accounts because of an app creation. Maybe the best alternative we can have is to develop the new site into a more mobile friendly website which can satisfy mobile users.
5  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russia to Allow Cryptocurrencies for “Contractual” Payments on: June 03, 2021, 03:43:17 PM
I was wondering what is the update regarding this one since from what I have seen before Russia still has a pending bill for cryptocurrencies as a means of payment and they have a separate bill for crypto mining in their country but I haven't seen any latest update regarding the bill/s if there are any new developments for it. The bill for crypto payments revolves heavily around the declaration of their citizens regarding their crypto holdings and other requirements that will surveil the industry.

"can be used" and "will be used" in the Russian sense are very distant things.

Cryptocurrencies in Russia from what I have seen is very popular in that country but not in a good way from what I have seen a lot of HYIP sites are pointing Russia as both the creators as well as the main users of it and maybe this is one of the reasons why they are creating a bill to heavily regulate it.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You basically have to believe that JPM is behind the sale on: June 02, 2021, 03:58:00 PM
Don't give JP Morgan too much credit on influencing anything involving the crypto industry as compared to others they can't make as much noise as what Elon Musk is doing. Even if you have asked this last 1 or 2 years ago I wouldn't say they are "manipulating" anything as they have negative comments about Bitcoin during its bear market. The ones who are manipulating the market right now are either the whales or maybe Elon Musk with his tweets but JP Morgan they were never in the limelight of any kind of influence in the market.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: why the price of Bitcoin dumping? on: May 31, 2021, 03:49:02 PM
Ever since Bitcoin had broken from its last ATH (19,000$) it's price rally really lacks the volume that support it to go up, simple an asset going up while the volume isn't increasing isn't really a good sign that the price rally Bitcoin is doing is health thus every time we see a price correction it quickly falls down without any kind of resistance. Add this with other elements such as FUD and panic sellers then you have a recipe for Bitcoin's price fall. Another term for what happened is this was a market correction since Bitcoin's rally and majority of the cryptocurrencies in the market had a massive price increase on a short period of time while there is no volume to support it.
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 2 Simple Ways Crypto Whales Manipulate the Market on: May 29, 2021, 04:21:13 PM
It is important to note that these tactics are illegal in the regulated stock market exchanges. As the cryptocurrency world faces more regulations as time goes on, It is safe to say that the whales will eventually lose their power to manipulate the market so readily and easily.

It's not illegal though market manipulation with short selling as well as going long and taking advantage of both buy and sell orders with their money is something within the boundaries of what an investor can do that is why the SEC has setup things such as trading halt and market halts to minimize the damage of what FUD and FOMO can do to the market. What is illegal though is insider trading as well as market manipulation by spreading false information similar to a pump and dump group, whales taking advantage of the market with only their money is something that is out of their hands considering that their capital alone has enough to influence the market they are on.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Three South Korean Banks Stop Working With the Nation’s Crypto Exchanges on: May 28, 2021, 02:44:47 PM
What we are seeing now is the effect of the new regulation being enforced in their country. I have recalled seeing this article last April threatening/reminding that almost all of their 200 crypto exchanges can be "shutdown" if they don't follow the new regulatory framework and their requirements.

South Korea’s Top Financial Regulator Suggests All Crypto Exchanges Could Be Shut Down

On April 19, the government’s policy office issued a statement that authorities will implement a “special enforcement period” from April to September to shut down any “illegitimate crypto businesses” and ensure that exchanges are abiding by the FTRA.

The most important qualification for VASP registration is an official partnership with a local commercial bank. Out of the some 200 exchanges to which Eun alluded, only the country’s four largest exchanges, known as the “Big 4,” have established such partnerships thus far. Many industry insiders already think the Big 4 will end up being the only exchanges to survive the regulatory tidal wave, but Eun’s comments have stirred up new worries.

So what we are seeing now was set in motion right after the new regulation has been announced and it's kinda weird to see why these exchanges are not acting anything about it since they are literally endangering the funds of their clients with the delay they are doing. It is obvious that new kinds of regulations and enforcement will happen as the crypto industry is new for everyone even on a crypto-friendly country such as South Korea.
10  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-05-21] Goldman Sachs Reconsiders, Calls Bitcoin a Legitimate Asset Class on: May 26, 2021, 06:27:18 PM
@Theb. This also appears similar to the phrase if you cannot beat them, join them hehe. The cryptospace will certainly be a new source of revenue for them. They also cannot leave their competitors tap this new revenue stream without them or they become less competitive.

Companies such as Grayscale, BlockFi, and other crypto-related investment companies are what they worry about the most since they have pioneered in the industry. I have said it in the past and the threat that these traditional investment companies are worried about are their own clients starting to venture out from a more risky investment and that is what the crypto industry can offer them. They might be late to realize that but this is still a change that has a positive effect in the market for us.
11  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-05-21] Goldman Sachs Reconsiders, Calls Bitcoin a Legitimate Asset Class on: May 25, 2021, 05:36:02 PM
Why did they suddenly change their stance? Goldman Sachs

Similar route used by a lot of companies who have "plans" for crypto in the future. It is similar to how JP Morgan CEO's suddenly eating their words about the crypto industry and Bitcoin in particular and then later on releasing their own JP Morgan Coin. This will be the same pattern for a lot of traditional companies where they have taken a negative view about the crypto industry they will suddenly change their opinion as they have plans for it. Simply make this all about money seeing companies changing their views and opinions as its either their clients realizing they are missing an opportunity or themselves seeing that they have made a mistake on giving negative opinion about the whole crypto industry.
12  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: is bitcoin taxed in canada on: May 22, 2021, 04:19:17 PM
What if you directly sell it for a privacy coin like pirate chain? There is no money made doing this, and do they even know where the bitcoin went? I would be using a decentralized no kyc p2p exchange to do this.

If you bought 1,000$ worth of Bitcoin and then sold/exchange it at a higher price let say 1,500$ worth of Pirate Chain (or any other cryptocurrency) then you basically made 500$ of capital gains. It doesn't matter if its not a fiat currency as long as you are selling your cryptocurrency at a higher price than the fair market value of it when you have bought it you still have "earned".

and do they even know where the bitcoin went? I would be using a decentralized no kyc p2p exchange to do this.

You are basically thinking of tax evasion here and I don't know how the laws work in Canada and how harsh the penalty is for tax evaders but hiding your earnings will be illegal in most countries.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Benefit of cryptocurrency in developing countries on: May 20, 2021, 05:53:02 PM
@OP remember that this is a beginner section and we must always be under the assumption that most of the readers hear are new and lacking knowledge about cryptocurrencies and the post you have now might mislead people that earning through trading is an "easy" way to have an income when in fact it is not. People have experienced it yesterday and the recent past days where Bitcoin plunged 20% of its value and around 50% from its all time high can you imagine how many newcomers have lost their money because of it? That will be majority of the newbies without any kind of knowledge and a trading plan entering the market, your words are simple and straightforward though it will be misunderstood by a lot of newbies as you haven't given them any kind of warnings about it.

15  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: is bitcoin taxed in canada on: May 19, 2021, 06:45:30 PM
Is bitcoin taxed in canada? i think I heard it is only taxed when you sell it, and then depends on how much you made. But if you you buy monero or pirate chain with it, can they see that transaction and tax it, do they even know you sold it if you sold it p2p? So if it is taxed, is it based on the value of bitcoin when you bought it as compared when you sold it, and what is the rate you are taxed at? Thanks.

To answer your question about buying Monero with Bitcoin yes it is still taxable and yes if Canada's Taxing authority is strict they have the capabilities to question your earnings through an audit just like how IRS is doing it. Keep in mind that taxation doesn't happen on what kind of money are using (Fiat currency/Crypto) but taxation (capital gains) happens through the fair market value during the point in time you have bought it and its fair market value after you have sold it so using any kind of currency through that trade is irrelevant as this won't be some kind of loophole for you.
16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: check out my project - feedback/interest is much appreciated on: May 16, 2021, 08:44:56 PM
I agree with your comment on the roadmap just being about software analysis and development activity to date.  I need to add more to the roadmap now that I have a demo app version such as finding parking providers and parking space users.  I also like the idea of a page dedicated to interested operators/parking lot owners who want to take part in the project.

Keep in mind that you just don't take up registrations for anyone interested in being an operator as you still need to filter them out, people might abused it for example they are registering parking spots that they do not own and just wants to monetize/scam using your app. You still need to treat them like a real estate lessor where they need to provide proof of ownership and their capability of reserving the spot for your users. Bottom line is you still need to know them as their parking spaces will reflect directly to the service you are providing.
17  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Storing Cryptocurrency in Coinbase Vault Vs Hardware Wallet? on: May 16, 2021, 07:23:29 PM
I've commented in one of your threads related to this and it seems like you are not comfortable on using the Coinbase Vault as you have a lot of questions about it and you are worried about its safety and how it can be hacked by someone else. Maybe I can give you an alternative for your storage problems, if you don't want to buy a hardware wallet and you aren't comfortable with using a service like Coinbase Vault you can always create a cold storage of your own by using an old phone/laptop where you install Electrum and you keep that device offline meaning not connected to the internet at all, in this way you have a peace of mind about any hacks happening from your wallet as it is an offline device.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 16, 2021, 06:46:27 PM
Juventus has fewer chances to make it to the Champions League next year. If Milan win today against Cagliari, and in the last round play in a draw with Atalanta, then Juventus will only have to wait for Napoli to misfire. But I think they will not. your field.

This might be the "best" and realistic scenario I can think of for Milan for their last 2 games. Even if they are coming of a 7-0 win as a Milan fan I have learned not to expect positively anymore as it will just disappoint me at the end but I'm really hoping that Milan will enter the Champions League this year and they won't mess up their last 2 games.

Will Pirlo leave juve this season? It doesn't seem like he has won any titles.

“No, I won’t step aside” Pirlo says he won’t resign despite Juve’s loss to Milan"

On his recent interview this is what he said after the 3-0 loss they have experience against Milan recently and that is what he answered that he can still turn things around at this point. If Pirlo will be out from Juventus its not him sending a resignation letter but it will be coming from the directors themselves as Pirlo can handle a lot of hate and criticism coming from the fans.
19  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Teacher Loses Life Savings To Elon Musk Bitcoin Scam on: May 16, 2021, 05:48:34 PM
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: we should monitor wich one ? (indicator) on: May 16, 2021, 04:22:37 PM
Market dominance for me is not an indicator as it is just basically a market cap comparison and it doesn't dictate if the prices will go up or down. As for your main question the indicators useful for you will depend on what kind of trading style you are into. There are MAs and EMAs more suited for day trading while there are also MAs and EMAs suited for the long term and that can be said to other indicators as well. But if you want to know the basics you must understand volume analysis as well as basic candlestick patterns as this is one of the fundamentals you need for technical analysis.
