321  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-21 Insider - Americans are becoming increasingly bullish on crypto on: February 24, 2021, 04:08:02 PM
Isn't the timing off for these types of survey being taken at a bullish period? It's like asking new investors in the stock market on a bullish season and you will definitely see more people inclining to the fact that the market is indeed bullish. We don't need any kind of study to prove this since from where I am from my news feed from the social media is flooded by several crypto related news and topics ever since Bitcoin made some noise again during the price rally it is doing right now, and this is coming from an account that doesn't have any friends who are into crypto and who barely joined crypto related groups in the social media so definitely when it comes to the bullish season people will be more interested and have a positive feedback for the market.
322  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallet with QR code request on: February 23, 2021, 09:29:20 PM
If you are looking for a payment gateway for Bitcoin with 0% fees the best option for you is BTCPay. You have an option to create a payment request/invoice(video demo on the link) which you can send to your buyer where he has the option to copy the address or scan the qr code. If you know how to work around with your website with various codes and you want to integrate a payment system on it this I think is one of the best options for you.
323  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Ann] The Price in Sats on: February 23, 2021, 07:44:41 PM
If you do get a NaN, just refresh the page and you should get the pricing. It might be better for me to store the pricing in the DB and on serving if a live price isn't available I could serve the last copy.

Good thing I saw your post before I reported that the pricing is not shown properly in the website however it did took me around 7 refreshes for the prices in your website to fully update.

Things that I like about your website
-It still shows the Bitcoin (in decimal) value together with the fiat and sat value which I truly appreciate since I am more used to this kind of valuation for Bitcoin
-If ever Satoshis will be more popular way of counting Bitcoin then your website will be the pioneer tool for it
-Another plus is you explained what Satoshis are which will make it easier for newbies to learn it

Room for improvement
I don't have the capabilities to do this one but I think your website/tool is more useful to become a browser extension where users will just turn it on and use the cursor to hover at the prices and let your tool calculate the value in sats/Bitcoin. For people who are into e-commerce websites and maybe resellers they might find this as a useful and more efficient tool compared to a website.
324  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Unable to trade because of my nationality on: February 23, 2021, 06:19:28 PM
~snip

If this is the case, then OP should reconsider to trade in other decentralized exchanges where in Kyc isn't required. I dont think Binance will lift the ban of his account if there are previous terrorism issues. Also, if he logged in into sudan ip before. Previous logs may also be traced.

The way I understand his post is living in Ukraine and the reason he mainly is blocked for having a verified account in Binance is because he provided a Sudanese passport which I think in unfair in my point of view. Binance already showed compliance against US sanctions by blocking the IP addresses in Sudan but to block a a person just because of his nationality even though he is living in another county which for me is unfair, maybe they are under the assumption of him using a VPN that is why they decided not to verify his account or something but still it doesn't need to end this way on how I look at things. The other sad thing about this is even though they have been removed from the official list of "State Sponsors of Terrorism" they are still not doing anything about it.
325  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Unable to trade because of my nationality on: February 22, 2021, 07:54:44 PM
Looks like this is not an isolated case but is being faced by several Sudanese who wants to use Binance. I did some digging about countries blocked by Binance and I came across by this Reddit post saying that the main issue why Binance restricted Sudan IP addresses is because they were identified as state sponsored by terrorism a few months back when Trump was still the president. Now the problem I see here is Sudan is now crossed out from that list and still the restriction from Binance is not yet lifted and also your case which just being a Sudanese living in a different country is still not allowed by Binance to register. Also included in that link is a change.org petition requesting Binance to lift the restriction which currently has 888 (out of 1000) signatures this might be a reach but it may help out your case. But until the restriction is lifter it is better if you find an alternative crypto exchange bro since it might take a while for Binance to respond.
326  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russian Government Passes Draft Bill on Bitcoin Taxation on: February 22, 2021, 06:58:27 PM
I feel jealous about the Russians. Here in India, the government has almost finalized their plans for a law, which would make ownership of cryptocurrency a criminal offense which is punishable by 10 years in jail. And then we have countries such as Russia, where there are zero taxes (on long term holdings). But proving that you purchased the coins more than 12 months ago can be challenging. My Bitcoin wallet is having hundreds of transactions. If I want to file for long term capital gains exception, then I need to explain each and everyone of these transactions (which is pretty much impossible).

Just stay out of the noise for a little while since this is just still a bill and chances are the lawmakers will add or take away some from the existing bills. Remember that the Reserve Bank of India is the strong opposition here but even your Supreme Court have ruled out their unjustified ban against crypto related transactions in the past so chances are there are also lawmakers who have different views with their bill and they might add some exemptions like finding a way for popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum co-existing with the planned digital Rupee or this ban for "private cryptocurrencies" will only be applied to new ICOs. Bills are something we don't react on as something final as there will be days/months/years for it to become a law and most of them don't even have the same content/regulations when they become a law.
327  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria will overtake India in P2P on: February 21, 2021, 09:15:59 PM
In response to the CBN's directive, banks have begun to identify and deactivate the account of individuals with inflows/outflows from/to cryptocurrency exchanges. It is unclear if affected individuals would be able to reopen accounts with these banks in future.

I haven't focused one news about Nigeria this much since we have countries like India and Russia heading the headlines but I never thought that Nigeria is also in the same if not far more worse situation than India. If you think that P2P trading will bloom in this situation I don't think it will since the regulation ordered by the central bank of Nigeria covers all kinds of crypto related transactions may it be from a crypto exchange or just depositing/withdrawing money for a crypto related trade. The news is clear on this that banks are ordered to investigate the inflows and outflows of cash from their clients. With people who can't use their money inside the banks or used it as a way for receiving money I don't think P2P trading is something that will grow substantially without their Citizens having another mode of alternative in their transactions.
328  Other / Meta / Re: I am genuinely interested, need some advices. on: February 21, 2021, 07:00:27 PM
So I ask frodocooper to guide me with my questions? To do that how do I find him.

That's what hilariousandco suggested so you can go ahead but he also suggested for you to create your own topic/thread which I think is more beneficial to you since other members can also reply to your question. Also since your topic will mostly be about an introduction to mining the most suitable board for it is the Mining Support sub-board inside Mining or the Beginners and Help section of the forum. I do agree with what the other people have commented about your post being deleted as a bit harsh since looking at what others have posted in the same topic what they have posted IMO is more off-topic compared to what you have posted.
329  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about confirmations and reorg on: February 19, 2021, 09:29:14 PM
so I can conclude that if I pay a solid fee amount and wallet is not faulty, the odds of the transaction being confirmed are > 99.99%?

This is pretty much a guaranteed transaction as long as you provide a sufficient fee for your transaction. Just be careful how much you will put on as a fee as you might end up having your transaction not being taken by any miner because of having a low fee. If you want a good estimate on how much Bitcoin/byte you can give and the time estimated that it will be confirmed you can go to Bitcoin fee calculator websites such as this one as a basis on which you think is an ideal fee as well as the waiting time you can stomach in for the transaction, you should take note that this are just rough estimates and it might not give you the expected time of your transaction being confirmed.
330  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-17 Visa Piloting API Suite to allow Banks to Buy Bitcoin on: February 19, 2021, 07:35:12 PM
This kind of news is the exact opposite of hearing Elon Musk/Tesla buying their Bitcoin position not in a bad way but something that won't let you get off your seat because you won't feel static about it. Don't get me wrong on this one as this is really a good news for us but this is a move from Visa that won't exactly affect the market in the short term because just by seeing the name of the first bank involved which is "First Boulevard" you won't really be impressed with how things are developing for their project. VISA is something that has hinted us in several news that they are involved with the crypto industry but after several months of waiting what kind of project they have it will be a lackluster like this one.
331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taxes when selling physical coins? on: February 18, 2021, 07:05:17 PM
Physical coins? In crypto market, you have digitalized coins or tokens, not physical.

Depends on your nation, you have to obey with your national rule on tax. Generally, if you end with profit, you need to pay tax for governments.
[Tutorial] Crypto taxes for beginners

I think what OP meant was those ancient coins (tens or hundred years old kind). Collectors item.

Nope judging by the OP's post history I think when he is saying "physical coin" he is talking about the Casascius Physical Bitcoin he have purchased which makes sense on why he will be confused on the tax implications on it. Basically @OP you have 2 things to consider when you will be selling back this Casascius again the income you will get from the sale and also the capital gains you will have assuming that the Casascius physical Bitcoin you have is not empty. The income is of course the selling price you have sold it minus the purchase price when you have bought it and also minus the market value of the Bitcoin inside it that will be considered as your income. While the capital gains you need to conisder is similar to that but you need to take account the market value of Bitcoin when you have purchased it and also the market value of Bitcoin when you will sell it. Remember that Income tax and also Capital gains tax fit in this criteria since this is not only the digital asset we need to consider but also a physical item that you have bought.
332  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Getbitcap is a fake exchange! on: February 17, 2021, 07:31:24 PM
It would also help if everyone reports their domain and website, and stay away from Getbitcap and all similar websites.

Reporting their website to namecheap won't do anything as namecheap itself don't give a damn if they are hosting a scam website. I have seen previous posts about this and compared to other website hosting service they don't reply to your queries or take any action about anything all they care about is the money going in their company. Best alternative is what you have done now and make people aware here in the forum that such a scam website exists so besides that if the promotions of this scam exchange is still in the Telegram channels you are in I would recommend you to report their accounts using the channel of Telegram for reporting scams as this is what they have recommended for abusive users using their app for illicit activities.
333  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Extra security for a paper wallet on: February 16, 2021, 07:49:00 PM
Yes, I understand that part. But I would like to delete that wallet from the computer after generating the keys (address) and keep only the seed backup phrase. I wonder if there is a method to further protect a seed phrase from unauthorized use in case someone finds it.
For example, something like NeuroticFish suggested. But I'm not sure how secure the approach of inserting extra words would be and whether it would be easy to decode for a potential thief.
I've been thinking more about how to randomize word order or something like that.

If we are talking about the protection of the seed phrase itself I think the best way to protect it is just to put it in a place where you are the only one who has access to it. Put the seed phrase in a safe or in a safety deposit box or if that kind of security is not enough for you then you can implement what NeuroticFish is doing and put in some random words, jumble the combinations of the words and have the decoder of it in another piece of paper in which the seed phrase and the decoder will be kept in different places. Personally I won't be messing around with the order of the seed phrase since I might screw some things up but if you want an added security for you wallet I think this is a good solution for what you are asking.
334  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do I create and design simple website? on: February 15, 2021, 10:03:05 PM
Since I don't know what kind of content are you putting in your website my advice is for you to try out a free website (which you can upgrade later) hosting service like Wordpress or Wix. The best thing about availing this one is you will have some of the basic features like their site builder, a free web hosting, and some free design templates to start customizing and designing your website other than that it gives you a freedom to change your domain name for a paid one and also unlock some features/plugins such as SEO tools and Google Analaytics integration which will allow you to increase website's traffic. For the e-commerce type of website they also have features where you can easily integrate a payment system for your website to be short if you have the time for it and you want to cut down some expenses for hiring a web developer I think going with these kinds of services is a good alternative for you.
335  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Hackers arrested in Sim Swapping attacks against celebrities on: February 15, 2021, 08:10:09 PM
These hackers were obviously targeting the wrong victims, because if they thought they were just going to hack some very famous American citizens without touching the hornet's nest, then they were horribly mistaken. In addition to all the services around the world that took part in this action, the following detail caught my eye :

United States: US Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Santa Clara REACT;

The nature of sim swapping is something that will definitely target highly influential people/celebrities because their status as a well-known person gives these criminals an easier job. Since they are popular some of their public information can easily be taken from the internet if they have secretaries they can be carelessly give this information away without them knowing that something bad will happen so its really no surprised to me that they targeted these types of people for their attack. Fortunately with our technology right now and with the coordination of the authorities and the telecom provider these people can easily be tracked, it won't be enough to stop the sim swapping scam but at least it would take away some of the wrongdoers.

337  Economy / Gambling / Re: Joker7: 98% RTP Bitcoin gambling platform on: February 13, 2021, 09:05:59 PM
Before you focus more into developing and fixing some bugs in your website I think you should prioritize first on obtaining a gambling license for your project because when I have visited your website I didn't see any kind of gambling license while navigating your website. A gambling license has a lot of benefit besides you officially making your operations legal it will also make your gambling site more trustworthy thus giving you a big step on gaining more players. Also if you don't want to get in trouble with the law I think that you should make your website unavailable temporarily until you obtain a gambling license as there is that risk that they will shutdown your website permanently. My other suggestions are change your domain to a .com one as well as having a homepage for your website as having a log-in page as your welcome page is something that will lack information for visitors who wants to know more about what you have.
338  Local / Pilipinas / Re: (BSP warning) illegal online gambling on: February 12, 2021, 09:40:15 PM
There are only 2 types of licenses recognized by the Philippines
1. PAGCOR license under Electronic Gaming and Poker
2. International Gambling License (e.g. Curacao Gaming License)

339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Which Bitcoin wallet is Best? on: February 12, 2021, 07:27:22 PM
For a small amount, I used Electrum and for a huge amount, it's always recommendable to use a Hardware wallet, and here is a " [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)".  You can do research on your own.

These are probably the preferred options for security and reliability purposes but judging the previous thread created by the OP it looks like he is only using his mobile phone while using the blockchain.com wallet app so I assume that he is looking for another mobile wallet app alternative rather than a desktop or hardware wallet. As much as I want to recommend the mobile version of Electrum it is not one of the most user-friendly UIs out there as compared to its desktop version so I think the best way to go is to go check for custodial wallets like Coinbase which is pretty similar to what he is using now. Also @OP if you have trouble on your real balance not showing in your wallet I have found this support page in Blockchain's website and maybe you can help yourself on identifying your problem since we don't know the full details on why your real balance is not reflecting.
340  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-02-08] BREAKING NEWS: TESLA BOUGHT $1.5 BILLION IN BITCOIN — SEC on: February 11, 2021, 07:17:14 PM
@Theb. Agreed! However, from bitcoin’s price today, how much is it to maximize their returns? Triple the price? I speculate Tesla is expecting not less than 5x profit from the trade. This might only be beginning. Other billionaires are also beginning to consider bitcoin. The bear market will be intruiging, however hehehe.

They won't look at how much percentage gain they will have from their Bitcoin investment but they might just look at their investment if they are in fact earning anything out of it. We are talking about the cash reserves of the company meaning they are only using the extra funds lying around in their company without any use that is why most companies are using it to invest in assets to "maximize returns" but when the time comes these companies who have invested their cash reserves have financial trouble or have decided to expanded or just needed the money for other projects then they can pull out anytime without even thinking about maximizing the returns. That is how a company works and I don't think companies who have invested in Bitcoin are planning to hodl their position for a very long time.
