Manchester United have made contact with Joselu, according to a report.

Joselu? Oh, come on.  Grin  I really wonder who recommended Joselu to Manchester United. Maybe it is time to part ways with them.  Tongue

Joking apart, what will they do with Joselu who is at the age of 34. Apart from his age I believe he isn't a quality player either. I don't think he deserves to play for a big team regularly. I know Ancelotti gives him chances but if Real Madrid had a star striker Joselu wouldn't find much chance.

Manchester United should first focus on transfers that will improve the defense. Then they can think of signings for other areas.

The initial good start for DeRossi was provided by the calendar - three games in a row with teams from the very bottom of the standings. Then Roma really became better, at least more interesting - they scored a lot and conceded a lot. But the irony is that those who praised Mourinho's sacking suddenly realize that Roma are finishing the season worse than under him  Grin

Roma really have lost the fifth position to Atalanta now. In addition to that Atalanta have a really good advantage as they still have a missing game. It will be really sad if Roma don't finish in top five. There is an extra quota for the Champions League but even in this situation they have a possibility not to make it.  Sad  Four days from now, there is an Atalanta - Roma game. It is a really critical one.

I feel like De Rossi can bring this team to a better level if he is given more time. He hasn't even managed for a full season you know. It is unfair to judge a manager from such a short time period.
103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 08, 2024, 08:47:55 AM
Real Madrid had a really dominant ending to the season by announcing the title four weeks earlier. I believe in them to win the Champions League title as well. Ancelotti's current system works really well there.

After this season ends I'm curious about their transfer moves in the summer. I mean they aren't in a situation like they are weak in many positions. The current squad is really strong. Adding a solid striker would improve their offensive power much more. It seems like it is likely to be Mbappe for now. Especially after PSG's elimination in the Champions League I'm more expectant from Mbappe to leave. If he joins Real Madrid the dominance will reach another level.  Smiley
104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 08, 2024, 08:33:06 AM
Great job by Dortmund, but it was really intense...  Sad  PSG were once again on one of their unluckiest days. I thought it would be different this time but they had many shots hitting the post.

Dortmund normally don't have a good defending. This is the same for like many years. Their not conceding a goal in this matchup shouldn't mislead people because of that. If PSG got more lucky with those shots I mentioned the final result might have been way different.

But of course there is no meaning in discussing maybes from now on.  Grin  After 11 years Dortmund are back in another finale.
105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: May 06, 2024, 04:29:16 PM
There's a good chance that Lille will finish in third place. They are a solid top-tier team. That match between Lyon and Barcelona will decide the winner. Just being honest, I'd love for both Brest and Lille to win. They've earned it.

Barcelona? I assume you wanted to mention the Lille - Lyon game tonight.  Grin  Lyon are really on the rise after starting the season horrible. Even though they are the away side here they might be able to make difficulties for Lille. However I believe Lille would be the winner one way or another. They shouldn't waste their big advantage over Nice in the last two weeks.

I agree about Brest and Lille. They both deserve it. In the first times of the season Nice were also doing really good but their consistency was broken at one point. They lost a lot of points in a row that they won't make it to the Champions League most probably.

About Darwin Nunez to Barcelona rumours I think the only way for Liverpool to let him go would be to find someone solid in his place. Otherwise Liverpool wouldn't like to sell Nunez. I'm not much of a fan of Nunez though because of his wasting too many goal opportunities. It wouldn't be bad for Liverpool to find a more effective striker.  Tongue

Besides I'm doubtful about Barcelona to pay that high amount of money for Nunez. I don't think it makes sense. Nunez hasn't been impressive enough to sacrifice that much money. By the way I'm curious about whether Lewandowski is staying for another season. If he stays then I don't expect them to sign another striker.
107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: May 06, 2024, 04:08:44 PM
Atalanta @ 1.76
Marseille @ 4.70

Atalanta look quite favourite from now on. Actually the first leg ended up with a draw but they are still seen very close to the finale by bookmakers as well. Their eliminating Liverpool must have been really effective about these odds too though. That was such a huge victory achieved by Atalanta and we couldn't believe our eyes.  Grin

Marseille have a new manager. They started really good first but not much time later their form started to drop again. At least in the Ligue 1. But here in the Europa League I can say they are better. Their comeback against Benfica in the previous round was impressive. But will they reach the finale? I don't think so.
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: May 06, 2024, 03:44:48 PM
It was a really easy work for Liverpool to do. Tottenham are no longer like they were at the beginning of the season. Ange Postecoglou made a really good start first but their good progress didn't take too long.  Sad  I really want to see Tottenham more competitive. There are actually quite many talented players in the squad but they can't make use of it much.

Besides I wish Liverpool were able to perform like this on the previous weeks as well. In this way they would have maintained their chance for the Premier League title. They really let down people in a season which is Klopp's last one here at the same time. Let's see what is waiting for us if they sign Arne Slot.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 06, 2024, 08:55:40 AM
It amuses me how Xavi always talks about how many minutes Barcelona were better. This time, in his opinion, Barcelona were better for 65 minutes. It is strange that Girona, being better in just 25 minutes, was able to make twice as many useful actions (goals). I wonder if Xavi himself believes what he says?
By the way, what also surprised me was the reasoning that “we want to become second.” Of course, he meant that Barcelona wants to overtake Girona, but still this is too small a goal to be worth voicing at all.

For the Girona game yeah there is no way you can say this. Girona were clearly much better than Barcelona. I couldn't even count how many more goal opportunities they had and wasted. I can't even imagine how the final score would have been in that case.  Shocked  Xavi should accept that they were terrible in the second half.

That wishing to be second thing is really like a desperate call. They couldn't be competitive in the La Liga this season. After losing their chance for the league title their main goal was gone as well. Barcelona are a team that always aim titles. Xavi should talk about what they need to do next season from now on.
110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 06, 2024, 08:49:27 AM
It won't get boring if we talk about Leverkusen's unbeaten record and instead of them playing casually against Frankfurt, they actually embarrassed Frankfurt in front of their fans. I think Leverkusen will continue to keep this record and they don't care who the opponent will be.

The Leverkusen players' mentality is as strong as steel and regardless of the competition, they can always produce maximum results in every match. Now with the latest victory over Frankfurt, Leverkusen has 2 more matches left in the Bundesliga and it would be a perfect unbeaten record if they still get a win.

It was really an embarrassing score for Frankfurt. I thought maybe a draw would be seen again after some complacency as of winning the league title. Leverkusen got two draws before because of that. However they were so ambitious that they were showing their intention to keep this streak for much longer very clearly.  Smiley

I don't know how Xabi Alonso really does this. I'm very curious about his secret.  Grin  The bond is such a strong one between him and the players that nobody is still able to break it. This streak will come to an end at one point but even then it won't be that easy to see them struggling a lot.
111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 06, 2024, 08:43:48 AM
Courtois is back after a very long injury time period. When I saw him on the bench of the first leg game against Bayern Munich I got really surprised. Because they said that he returned but got injured once again. It seemed like he wouldn't be able to play in the remaining games. But here we are. He played for 90 minutes against Cadiz recently. I wonder whether Ancelotti will put him in the starting eleven in the rematch here as well.  Huh

It looks like there is only Alaba left who is injured at Real Madrid side. This is very positive news for them. Now I expect them to be stronger at defending as Militao is also back in business.  Smiley  I don't think Bayern Munich will manage to eliminate them at Santiago Bernabeu. I still expect this thing to end in regular time.
112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 06, 2024, 08:37:23 AM
Juventus can't win anymore.
14 points in the latest 14 games, and only 3 wins.

The qualification for the next Chamspion league is now closer but not yet achieved.

A big part will be done next week with the game between Atalanta and Roma, 2 contenders of Juventus.

The fans must be really disappointed with this poor level performance. This was their fourth draw in a row by the way. If the teams below them were a little better on the recent weeks Juventus could have even found themselves out of top four. I can't say Juventus really deserve the Champions League with this kind of a performance.  Sad

A big renovation is needed like I said before. With this squad neither Allegri nor a different manager can do much next season. Juventus would have a similar run to the 2022/2023 season in the Champions League in that case, there was a terrible group stage performance by them back then.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 05, 2024, 04:19:23 PM
Rumours about Osimhen is going around once again. Chelsea is even claimed to have started the contacts with the player. In addition to money they might add 2 players to the offer as well. One of which is said to be Lukaku.

Osimhen - Chelsea rumours have been on the internet for a really long time. It must be around like at least two years. I don't know whether they will really make an official offer this summer. Nkunku is soon back from an injury but there is a question mark on his injury-prone nature. Jackson hasn't impressed the team much in general of this season either. If they sign Osimhen I wonder what kind of changes they will make. Nkunku's main position isn't centre-forward though so Pochettino can handle this by some changes.  Smiley
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: May 05, 2024, 04:11:12 PM
Monaco 4 - 1 Clermont

Monaco are getting close to securing a ticket for the Champions League group stage. This win was really important for that. I don't expect them to lose their spot on the remaining two game weeks. The last one to join directly is still doubtful though. Brest and Lille are in a really close competition. Lille has a good chance to take the third position now after the draw Brest got yesterday.

Brest are actually one of the surprising teams of the season. They have come a really long way so far. Even if they drop down to the 4th position I hope they make it to the Champions League anyway. All this effort shouldn't be in vain.  Sad   Their remaining games are against Toulouse and Reims. I think both of them are winnable. Smiley
115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 05, 2024, 03:56:19 PM
Girona is leading Barcelona by one point in the La Liga table, and they need to win their four remaining matches in the league in order to finish in second place in the La Liga table. Xavi has changed his mind to stay with Barcelona next season, so Barcelona will not need a new head coach. This season, Girona surprises everyone by booking a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League competition.

Girona did a marvelous work against Barcelona. I thought things would be different this time. Barcelona were actually 2-1 ahead at halftime but somehow they couldn't do anything against that big comeback.  Sad  From now on my expectation from Girona is to maintain their position until the end. I have checked their fixtures and I can't say they have very challenging opponents left.

Xavi thinks that they have lost despite being the better side and this happened to them many times. In some games I would agree, in some other ones I wouldn't. But one thing seems certain that he is staying for at least another season. He stated that by himself again after the Girona game.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: May 05, 2024, 03:45:00 PM
Is Jackson finally starting to be useful for Chelsea?  Tongue  After scoring against Tottenham he scored 2 goals against West Ham today as well. This is really important for him to regain his self-confidence of course but let's see if he will really be more consistent from now on. It wouldn't be sensible to compare him to strikers like Haaland of course but he could lose his place in the starting lineup if he doesn't perform consistently.

5-0 is a really huge win though. Palmer also scored which was nice to see. It seems like it won't be easy for Palmer to finish as top scorer. Because Haaland scored 4 goals yesterday and reached 25 goals. Palmer is 4 goals away. But Palmer is going to be the most valuable player of the team this season for sure.  Smiley

Edit: I mistakenly wrote hat-trick for Haaland, fixed it now.  Smiley

Today we are in another day with a Leverkusen game. This time they are going to play against Frankfurt away. There is still an unbeaten streak of 47 games, what is your opinion on today's game?

Honestly I'm not expecting Xabi Alonso and his students to let this streak be broken by Frankfurt either today. Even Roma couldn't do it in Italy previously you know. I don't want to see it with plain logic of course. However they somehow manage not to lose even if they are behind by one goal in the last moments. We saw that in their latest Bundesliga game for example there are other examples happened before too. I think both teams will score and a draw wouldn't be surprising.  Smiley
118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 05, 2024, 09:04:23 AM
Godspeed to him anyways, in his new path he has decided to follow. Could that club be his boyhood club? It feels good to go back finally, I see he wants to finally settle down with the family.

Yeah and Thiago Silva actually played for Fluminense for a few years in the first times of his career. Brazil is where everything started for him and now he is going to be back in the squad of his old team. Maybe it would be emotional for him to return there after so many years. I think he would play for another season there as well and then retire.  Smiley

Now people started to link Erik ten Hag with Bayern Munich. If he really leaves then it would be possible of course. Bayern Munich continues to be rejected by the managers they are making an offer to. We really can't be confident about who their next manager will be. Erik ten Hag might also not be the one. Because Manchester United doesn't seem keen on parting ways with him yet.
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 05, 2024, 08:52:54 AM
Wasn't that finals between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola? I think I can recall vividly how that game went. Borrussia Dortmund missed too many chances to score until Bayern Munich finally did to seal the game.
I really don't think it would be interesting one between Borrussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. I won't even bother watching because we all know that Bayern Munich would destroy Borrussia Dortmund.

I'd rather a Paris Saint Germans and Real Madrid Finals, I would love to see Luis Enrique do it again with another club hopefully. He did years ago with Barcelona long ago with the likes of Neymar Junior, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez.

I want to see Paris Saint Germans going to the finals, maybe Kylian Mbappe can set his hands on the Champions League Trophy even before moving to Real Madrid next season.

You were close.  Smiley  That finale was between Klopp and Heynckes. When it comes to Heynckes he also had a really good time period with Bayern Munich in the past. He managed the team twice by a gap of some years and he did a pretty good job. He didn't just manage the team for too long in both situations and he is retired now.

Anyway Luis Enrique is a really quality manager. I remember his success with Barcelona. He is really good at handling big players in his team. But can PSG become the champions this season? They aren't the biggest contender maybe but there is still a chance.
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 05, 2024, 08:44:11 AM
Atalanta have a chance to get ahead of Roma this week. Head-to-head games are prioritized and their previous game ended by 1-1. However Atalanta have a bigger goal difference than Roma now.

If Roma lose points today and Atalanta win tomorrow this will happen. This would also mean a huge advantage for Atalanta in that case. Because they still have an absent game to play as well. De Rossi has a really tough work to do in the remaining league games. He needs to move on with a minimum loss of points, even 0 if possible. By the way there is going to be a Atalanta - Roma game to be played soon too. The result of this game will probably be the decider for the fifth finishing team.  Smiley
