Yet another chinese Avalon clone. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

50btc.com stole all my 0.8 BTC I had since 2012 year! When I log in 2013 it says that I have 19 BTC. Now it says 0. Where is my 0.8 BTC?? This site must be closed!
Wrong thread, dumbass.

For some people, cgminer works better (hot unplug and Avalon dynamic clocking come to mind as cgminer advantages at the moment). For many others, BFGMiner is the clear winner... and we strive to make it better all the time.
For some, like me, must use both, because some of my hardware is only supported by cgminer, and some of my other hardware works better on bfgminer. It's especially annoying when hardware guys don't cooperate with either the cgminer or bfgminer teams and just release their own patched, bug-filled version of the miners and call it a day. I mean, I still have to run a terrible patched cgminer to get my HEX16A2 boards to run. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I have to run a different cgminer instance to support my Bitburner Fury because they didn't bother cooperating with any of the bfgminer folks to get support there either, and it won't run on the same cgminer instance as the HEX16A2 because the Fury uses Avalon timing arguments which aren't compatible with the HEX16A2 and vice-versa. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

It's also called "Big F**king Gun" in the terrible Doom movie. As for the name change, I don't see the point, as the other two muppets will just continue their tirade of nonsense. It'd never even crossed my mind about the BFG bit and the Doom reference until now. Obviously I'm too naive. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I'm thinking if it IS to be renamed, something like CompleteMiner, because it is now the only miner that supports GPU, CPU and ASIC for SHA256, and GPU, CPU and soon ASIC for scrypt. Completely Great miner, which could be shortened to c....er...maybe not. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

All that article does is show Thomas Sohmers to be a bit of a clueless ballbag.

I had assumed there would be no interest since the Gridseed chips have a Scrypt component.
This isn't the cgminer thread... ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Yes - try running bfgminer with the following arguments: bfgminer -S erupter:all -S antminer:all Tried that but seems from BTC Guild workers that only the erupter is working What does the bfgminer screen say, though? That's kinda the important bit.

newbee in mining here,LTC to be exact,
You'll probably want to post of the Litecointalk forums, because this is bitcointalk.

100x more malware / trojans on Windows systems than Linux, or even OSX for that matter.
Only if you're a moron and go browsing on dodgy sites with shitty or outdated antivirus, or a moron and using IE. Personally I have a 'working' wallet on my PC, and my 'cold storage' wallet is on a Windows 7 install in a VM, which has it's virtual drive on an external hard-drive. No way in hell that's ever being accessed unless I'm there to plug it in, fire it up, sync the wallet and shut it down again.

amd5870/6950/7950
Is it possible to put these cards in one motherboard? (without crossfire of course)
Yes, I ran a 5870, 6970 and a 7950 all off one machine. I think I used 12.8 drivers on Windows 7. i mean... does windows recognize all 3? or do i need linux ?
Why wouldn't it? Windows is good for 5 GPUs, after that I think there's issues, and I'm not even sure that issue exists with Windows 8.

I do notice a lot of people keep their killawatts plugged in all the time and this intrigues me. Why do this when you only need the measurement once of a single item ? I mean, if somethings running a 1000W or w/e I doubt it's kwh is going to fluctuate any if it's on 24/7.
I can tell by the power use if all my miners are actually mining. I can also tell, more or less, which one has stopped working by how much power isn't being drawn. It's a very quick way of telling if my miners are all mining without having to fire up the PC or laptop or whatever and check. If everything is running, I know it'll be drawing 800W. If it's only drawing 650W then I know the ASICMiners have stopped. If it's drawing 700W then I can almost be sure the Jalapenos have freaked, etc, etc. I just use a generic Chinese meter, but it's good enough that it can tell me how much it's costing me to run my miners - I just put in the cost of a kWh and it shows cost on the screen. Edit: This is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Weanas-Energy-Voltage-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00DTMQ1S6/ - only with UK plug, obviously. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Either your internet connection is dropping, or the pool you're using isn't very reliable. It's got nothing to do with your GPUs, and probably little to do with the motherboard.

I go between Eligius and BTC Guild. My tertiary backup is Eclipse (it's a reliable PPS pool).

With this in mind, a 15A breaker can generally provide about 1440W of continuous power safely which currently translates to around 800GH/s of hashing power...and this is pushing it.
Here in the 1st World, we have 30A of 240V per ring, and most houses have at least two rings. That's 7.2kW PER RING. 14.4kW per house, easily just from the sockets.

Avalon is a bit...well, old and crusty. Like ASICMiner's chip. No longer competitive, even when compared to BFL's chips.
I run some Avalon stuff here (HEX16A2), but even though they were dirt cheap, they're slow. Almost identical board using BitFury chips does more than double the hashing for no more heat or power use.
Those Avalon clone machines out of China are pretty overpriced too...I think Avalon needs a new chip, one that's much more efficient that the current designs.

Is there another way to run cgminer without using the .exe file on linux? otherwise I'll be looking into Pita (have no idea what it is ![Lips sealed](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/lipsrsealed.gif) ) .exe is for Windows. You couldn't run it on Linux even if you did download it. Just compile from source (it's not difficult, and there's plenty of guides on the web). Or you could use the other two miners that still support GPU mining (bfg and sg).

i3-3220 with 4GB RAM and a 64GB SSD is fine, though with the rate the Blockchain is increasing, it might be worth going with a 120GB SSD.
Personally, I use Debian on my linux machines, basically because it's available on all of them (RasPi, BeagleBone Black and x86). Saves me having to remember different commands for different distros.
