1001  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Wallet transaction notifications vs Smart alerts on: September 13, 2022, 07:36:38 AM
You'll find the majority of people here will likely to answer NO because doing so involves some sort of privacy risk and there is actually no reason for using it especially if you seldomly receives transactions. However, if you are concerned about keeping track on every transaction in your wallet, it is best to use a watch-only[1] wallet with Bluewallet installed on your smartphone.

Also, how many of you set up smart alerts to track projects or whales?
Not me as I don't really care about these people/miner/whale moving their bitcoin, because it's their right and it's none of our business. Also, you don't really need to setup an alert as there are twitter pages doing it.

1002  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Portfolio Tracking on: September 13, 2022, 06:56:31 AM
Try using this Portfolio Performance Tracker: https://www.portfolio-performance.info/en/

I am not pretty sure whether the application supports NFT tracking but I am certain that tracking your bitcoin or any other altcoin will do its job. The only caveat is that it can only be installed on desktop/laptop, plus the software is FOSS[1]. There is also a guide[2] for you get started.

From what I understand, factoids are somewhat similar to the animated advertisements shown in random sections of the forum, no?  This is the first I've heard of the term, and I have no idea if I've ever seen anything like it on bitcointalk. Or perhaps the question would be; Does it still exist today?
1004  Other / Archival / Re: “OP” on: September 12, 2022, 02:11:29 PM
Today

I probably never would've spent the ~hour figuring out how to add it because it strikes me as unnecessary, but I also don't see the harm in it. Since you wrote the code, I added it. Thanks!
1005  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: leverage trading method and psychology on: September 12, 2022, 01:45:01 PM
The issue I have is not so much bad calls but getting scared
I will go in with 10-20x leverage and see my money drop like a stone be down 20% and exit only to see it climb back up and hit the TP or climb higher
One issue I have other than getting scared is to do with time restraints I am trying to find a trade quickly and not giving it enough time also aping in and usual sh*t
It could mean many things. It could be a poor position sizing, or it could also mean that you are trading your PnL and not your technicals, or maybe a plain emotional hurdle called FOMO.

When I say poor position sizing, you are maybe entering a trade that's too large keeping your eyes glued on your PnL because you are just simply uncomfortable seeing your money getting rekt. Trading your PnL and not your technical on the other hand means that you exit based on the +/- percentage you see and not on your charts or the data points you have created.

Both of these issues are related to mindset or your psychological behaviour and the best solution you could come up with is experience and discipline.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT AND CHALLENGE WITH BITCOIN ? on: September 12, 2022, 11:56:47 AM
When bitcoin was still trading between $15k and $18k, I lent bitcoin to someone who was in desperate need of cash. I agreed that the loan will be payed continously for a few months. Unfortunately, the pandemic occurs, and bitcoin surged to $60k, making it difficult for that person to pay the exact amount of sats when it was still trading at $18k.

In the end, I agreed to be payed equivalent to the original loan amount in our local currency instead of the original quantity of sats when bitcoin is trading at around $18k. So yea, it's like a losing spot trade with extra steps.

Never again!
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Limitations of Bitcointalk Members from Developing Countries on: September 12, 2022, 10:54:49 AM
Just a few additions to consider before buying a powerbank. Take note of the Powers Bank's power output, their ports, and its battery capacity preferably the mAh recommendation by others.

You should at the very least be aware of the power output of your laptop's charger because they vary in output depending on the type of laptop they supply power for. A typical office laptop needs between 40 and 60 watts, whereas most of gaming laptop uses around 230 watts overall. While it is technically feasible to charge your laptop with a lower power output, the longer charging time would be your issue. Your laptop will take longer to charge if the power bank has a lower wattage.

As for the ports, they usually come with adapters that allows you to plug your laptop's own charger into the power bank. Plus, there shouldn't be much of a problem because, as far as I'm aware, new power banks supported USB type-C connectors (if you have one).

High Crime Rate:
..there is a high rate of snatching of phones and other technological gadgets....
The best course of action, in my opinion, is to refrain from using your phone at all, especially in places with lots of people, like wet markets. In the Philippines, snatching is a well-known crime that continues to this day and you have no choice but to avoid using your phone unless it's an emergency. Also, practice only keeping a tiny amount of bitcoin on your phone because you know that's the basic.

I can confirm I have the same issue as well and my list of every top merited board redirects to this inactive user profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=105537

I assume this is a backend issue?

Yo! Have you tried using Electrum already? You can follow this guide to create a multisig bitcoin wallet: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/multisig.html

Am I the only one who disagrees that including Reddit and Twitter is a recipe for a disaster? I mean, I don't want anyone else to see my private shitpost on social media.Plus, It's not like that I am sharing something related to my personal kink, but I feel like some random stranger will judge me when they see those Cheesy

Aside from Telegram or Discord, and by ditching social media account, I think it would be better to replace them with a privacy respecting apps like Briar[1]. Unlike Signal, you can create and post your account link on your profile without needing to submit your phone number, you just need a username and a password and that's it. You can also create a small forum with your selected contacts(links). More importantly it's FOSS.

1011  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: September 10, 2022, 12:25:33 PM
Have you tried entering the /menu --> click "Tracked Topics" --> "Add New" and see all the whitelisted thread on the list when you are asked to enter the URL? If the thread appears, then you just need to wait for the new replies for the notification to pop-up.

I've tried it myself and the thread have been successfully registered.
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are all crypto gambling charges expensive when it comes to USDT? on: September 09, 2022, 01:34:18 PM
It's not about USDT or ERC20 chain that make the fees is really high, but the casino is. I think it's shady for such act and I would never gamble on that casino.
A shameless plug for how you argue with the casino's bitcointalk representative in terms of withdrawal issues and slow support response[1]. For OP, i'd consider this scam accusation as a warning especially with how high the withdrawal fees is being charged from their players.

In addition, it can be said that some fans of brain biohacking are very brave in order to use all sorts of nootropic drugs to further activate their thought processes.
I've been taking 30 mg of noopept every morning for a while, and I can attest that it does help daily to improve cognitive performance. I initially considered buying Adderall, but when I learned that it required a prescription and that you must have been diagnosed with ADHD, I instead looked for a nootropic that had effects comparable to ADD but didn't require a prescription and could be purchased over-the-counter (OTC) and luckily using BTC

The only drawback is that as the dose wears off, you start to feel lethargic, but generally, the heigtened focus and prolonged alertness are fairly useful, especially when engaging in activities that requires too much brain power or watching tutorials for an extended period of time.
1014  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Did ChipMixer made hundreds of mllion of dollars? on: September 09, 2022, 11:50:26 AM
the day-to-day people you talk about that want pricacy are all criminal.
Haven't you heard that privacy is a fundamental human right that people barely achieve because of how big companies are trying to invade your personal shits and sell them for good?

If it's true that they made millions of dollars, then kudos to them as they made a privacy tool for bitcoiners to protect themselves from day-to-day pursuit of surveillance.
1015  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin telegram on: September 09, 2022, 11:12:26 AM
There is a bitcoin-related official telegram group, although it tends to discuss more complex subjects, particularly those that are linked to programming and advanced topics in bitcoin development. Considering that mining is the backbone of bitcoin, I'm just not sure if topics about it will be discussed there. Nonetheless, you could try.

The fact that the dashboard of my Ublock Origin browser extension is clear when accesing bitcointalk and how Dark Reader extension neatly changes the dark mode color of bitcointalk during night time with a single click of a button.  Cheesy
1017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Accepted crypto for trading on: September 06, 2022, 08:13:13 AM
What specific country are you in? There are numerous stores that accept bitcoin in exchange for products and services globally just like this one[1]. If what you mean bitcoin being a legal tender, then we have El Salvador for that.[2]

1018  Other / Meta / Re: What the hell is going on with these spammers? on: September 06, 2022, 07:43:42 AM
You can just report them, ignore them or simply avoid Altcoin Discussion at all since only few of the threads that is created there are sensical and most are pure garbage either by promoting their scam token or a hive full of spammers.

And as far as I know, there are services out there that incentivizes people to shill their project in every forum they find on the internet. So they don't care whether they create spam or not as long as the service is advertised.
1019  Other / Meta / Re: [List]Gambling Board Spammers; Concerns, Solutions & Suggestions on: September 06, 2022, 05:53:18 AM
Do any of you have a profile setup like this? I think this can help you not see the different avatar and signature of each campaigner. See what positives you'll get, you're bound to be reading what users write more often than who writes for what campaigns.
Sometimes seeing other member's signature space and avatar helps you to identify which member is shitposting or not. There are signature campaigns that require their members a fuckton of post per week where whoever joins that campaigns, you can automatically consider some of them as spammers.

A lot of people say it doesn't make sense to pay someone with spam or very low quality posts, so I'm sure you must be discussing post quality more often without caring about what they're getting from the campaign if you have profile setting like that.
Regardless if you have settings like this, it doesn't change the fact that they are still getting paid with or without you seeing their signature. But that's just me.
1020  Economy / Reputation / Re: User DigitalMonk - suspicious behavior! on: September 06, 2022, 05:02:23 AM
Quoting here for some laughs  Cheesy

At the last, who could be the real Satoshi Nakamoto ?  Any one of the possible Faketoshi or an unknown Alien or person ? Each Post will have a value of 0.10000000 BTC. The winner will win double, triple or multiple amounts of Bitcoin. There will be a Grand Jackpot. The Value of the Grand Jackpost will be won by the one person or multiple person who's Post are correct to find Satoshi Nakamoto. In the Grand Final Round an unknown Bitcoin Address will be posted by Satoshi Nakamoto to confirm his, her, or their identity containing the final value of the Jackpot and a Cryptographic signature by the real Satoshi Nakamoto.

If you want to participate in the Satoshi Nakamoto Bet , you must comply with the rules explained in the # 6 points.

The boredom of this dude is ridiculous though! I mean sometimes I get bored on the internet but not to the point where I conduct a betting thread for a person that does not guarantee to comeback.
