It appears the kittehpool is already broken.

You could have picked a better meme.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptsy lagging? on: December 24, 2013, 10:12:39 AM
Lagging is an understatement.  Their shit is just plain slow as ballz.  Sometimes, when I visit their home page, I just wanna punch Vern in the face.

NET/BTC opened tonight?  Really, Vern, decided add a brand new market when you already can't handle the traffic you have?

I cancelled a 250,000DOGE sell order over 2 hours ago, balance is still not updated, haven't got my coins back yet.  This has happened before but never has taken this long.

1004  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Getting out of Cryptsy on: December 24, 2013, 08:34:19 AM
I figured, just wanted to be sure - thanks!
1005  Economy / Trading Discussion / Getting out of Cryptsy on: December 24, 2013, 08:02:03 AM
OK, so Cryptsy sucks.  SOOOOO slow.

Bter looks better (maybe), I'd like to transfer some balances there.  Can I just withdraw from Cryptsy directly to my deposit address on Bter or do I need to withdraw to my wallet, then send to Bter address?
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Alternate cryptocurrencies, Is it time for subforums? on: December 24, 2013, 05:52:17 AM
I think by date is a poor idea, not many folks keep track of what month a coin was released, they won't know where to go (I know I wouldn't)

I like Gasai's idea of dividing up into a couple sections, something like:

General Discussion - General chit-chat about altcoins
Announcements - for new coin announcements and updates from dev teams only (moderated)
Giveaways and bounties - obvious
Mining - new pool announcements, general discussion about mining setups
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [DIME] Dimecoin | Many Coins | Step Reward | CPU mining on: December 24, 2013, 05:10:57 AM
Why would anyone mine a coin named DIME after what happened to CENT?
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: December 24, 2013, 02:08:42 AM
I agree with most others, the price is a little disappointing.  I don't see any dates here - but with registration in a few days, and the "remaining 70% due 8-10 weeks before shipment" I am guessing we are looking at 4-6 months to ship.

The price is marginally better than what you would spend to build a rig with similar hashrates, the only big advantage is much lower power consumption.

1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just Bought 4 500 000 000 CENT on: December 23, 2013, 06:09:01 PM
CENT is in on life support, unable to survive much longer

There is a LARGE amount of money tied up in sell orders for CENT right now, the list is a mile long - I will be amazed if it reaches 0.03 uBTC ever again

More than likely, the OP puchased his CENT at 0.01 uBTC a few days ago and is now trying to get a few buyers at 0.02 uBTC so he can double his money Smiley

1011  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best/fastest way to buy BTC with $USD on: December 23, 2013, 05:57:13 PM
Yeah, but my instant buy limit is only 0.1BTC right now.  Is there a way to raise it?
1012  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best/fastest way to buy BTC with $USD on: December 23, 2013, 04:50:39 PM
Yeah, I tried looking Craigslist and LocalBitcoins but the prices there are absurd, like 1.5x current trade price.  Kindof like what the altcoins are selling for on eBay, everyone wants stupid money for their coins.

I guess I'm just pissed I missed out -- I was planning on investing 1.0 BTC into UNO last week, but of couldn't get my coins in time - and of course it showed up on CoinMarketCap in the meanwhile and now UNO is trading about 5x the price  Angry
1013  Economy / Trading Discussion / Best/fastest way to buy BTC with $USD on: December 23, 2013, 04:08:07 PM
I've been mining for awhile and have quite a collection of scrypt altcoins, but I'd like to buy some BTC for trading on the altcoin exchanges.

Coinbase looked pretty slick, so I purchased 1.0 BTC through them last week but it is taking FOREVER to get my coins.  I'd like to get some more but if it's going to take 5 days to process a transaction this isn't going to work.

I signed up with mtGox and submitted all my verification paperwork, still waiting on getting "approved."  Are they any faster?  Is there anyone out there that does "instant" (or at least, 24-hr wait) transfers from bank account or credit card?
1014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 69 BTC single buy order on Vircurex @ 50 Satoshi/DOGE for 139 Million DOGE on: December 23, 2013, 10:39:10 AM
Just because there are 139mil DOGE on order at 0.000000050 doesn't mean it's a single order, that is just the total of all orders at that price, at least I'm pretty sure that's the way it works.

But I've never used vicurex so I can't be sure
1015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: December 23, 2013, 09:00:32 AM
Has there been any thought in dropping the TX fee for storage of files?  Given DTC's current exchange rates, it would cost about $1.00 to store a 40KB MS Word document.  That seems pretty steep.

Might help in getting some traction if the rates were lower.  Also, if there was a way in the wallet GUI to do this instead of command-line.  Of course, this would also probably cause the blockchain to EXPLODE in size.

1. This fee is not hardcoded, 'dynamic fee' will be soon built into wallet - just like in Bitcoin wallet. But miners can set their own fees, so transactions with 0 fee can never reach destination. $1.00 per DTC - it was price when DTC costed 0.001 BTC, and Bitcoin price was $1.000. Now it's 0.5$. Anyway, $0.5 for MS Word document is not so much if you're not planning to store hundreds and thousands of documents.

2. It won't explode - remember that max block size is 1MB, and 1 block is generated every minute. And I don't think that people will want to  store gigabytes of data immediately.

Right, I agree $0.50 isn't alot of money but when you've got places like SkyDrive and GoogleDrive offering several GB for free, paying what works out to basically 2.5 cents per KB is pretty steep (current DTC/$USD = $0.50).

Although storing data in the DTC blockchain does have significant advantages, it is very secure (assuming that you encrypt your data), it is PERMANENT and anonymous - no one even knows it's there except you.  And, it is very resilient - a copy of your data exists on every fully synchronized node on the network.

I guess by "explode" I meant the block chain could grow significantly very quickly, if you added a way to add files/data to the blockchain using the GUI wallet.  1MB per minute adds up pretty darn fast.  A year from now -- I'm not going to store the entire 513GB DTC blockchain on my machine just so I can access my 200KB worth of "super secret" documents.

I think DTC has great potential.  Efforts are being made to use the block chain as a sortof cloud storage.  Could be pretty cool.

1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is doge dying off? on: December 23, 2013, 06:11:40 AM
I think it's hard to turn away from mining a coin that gives 500,000 per block and at one point in the recent past (albeit briefly), was trading for 0.01BTC and up.  There is still alot of hope in the community that it will hit the #4 spot on CoinMarketCap again.

I think Doge has a couple more pumps left in her.  Right now we are pretty close to the last low before it had a good run a few days ago (I think it was Thursday).  I wouldn't be surprised if we see another, smaller run in the next 12-24 hours.

I agree if the premine is all for bounties/rewards I'm OK with it - but dev should have been up front about it

Finding out after the release is sure sign of SCAMCOIN
