Does Bitcoin itself promise high returns on investments? No!
Thus, Bitcoin is by far not a ponzi scheme or whatever you call it. About other cryptos, some of them can relate to your arguments, but not all indeed.

Though it's a good suggestion, but I'm afraid that is not the only thing you need to do in order to get Merits (gosh, I'm tired of using this word). This thing can only make your posts more understandable, it doesn't make them constructive, and only the posts constructed informatively are appreciated.

I believe that has already begun. Half of the dump or at least a quarter maybe is because of the panic selling happening right now. Every time when there is a reason for the price to dump, like right now it is because of the mass selling of Bitcoins by Mt Gox, along with SEC's announcement of regulating cryptocurrencies, exchanges and wallets, the panic sellers play a very pivotal role to extend it even more. If the price is to dump 50% of its value, it gets extended to 70% or more because of the panic-selling scenario. |

These so-called "whales" or whatever they are, are unstoppable as they have enough Bitcoins to manipulate the market whenever they want. Me, you, or even many other people from basic category of Bitcoin holders cannot stop this corruption even if we want. They dump half of their coins at a very low price creating a wall and this compels others to sell theirs even cheaper, and that is when they buy them all below their wall and remove the wall. After that they put them on sale for the normal price, and all they get is profit from it. Now, how on earth can we stop something like that? I have no clue at all.

It would probably be legal as long as both countries haven't banned the currency yet, IMO. If there are any regulations regarding Bitcoin in Canada or India, you will need to know them before doing such a trade.
About sending money from India to Canada, I have just checked a few Indian Bank websites where all the taxes were given for such transfers. The sender needs to pay the taxes of his country, along with the currency exchange taxes, which would surely apply even if you are sending CAD or INR, they will need to be converted to be sent to the targeted country. I'm not sure though how much or on what bases the receiver will pay the taxes for receiving the amount.

I think you have started a useless discussion.  A discussion which will do nothing else for the users except for wasting their time reading it. And, you have even posted it in the wrong section. There is a particular section for such discussions, which is called Speculations. Though it won't make it any useful, but you should move it to that section, so that it should at least be where it has to be, although having no importance being there too. |

It is/was never about the price, but it is all about the features and uses it offers. The Market Cap is what you should see if you want to know how powerful a coin is, and if you have checked, the current price of Bit20 (BTWTY) is $1,058,670 and its Market Cap is just slightly higher than its price, which is $1,075,609. So basically, Bitcoin doesn't need to be the highest in price, but it is always on top because of its acceptance. People trade Bitcoin more than anything in the world, and its Market Cap is the proof of that.
Ask yourself, would you go with something having a higher price or something having more uses? I'm sure you would go with the second one. That is how Bitcoin is, IMO.

the merit system shouldn't discourage users to share their view on things either. You make thing someone may not agree with your post? Do not worry it's not like down votes are a thing in this forum yet. As long as you are posting up to date relevant information and most importantly original content then you should expect to pickup merit points along the way. You shouldn't expect to gain several hundred merit points in a small time frame unless you have contributed greatly.
The merit system it working as a whole although it has caused a few little problems here and there like for instance many people are copy and pasting older topics or older replies and trying to pass them off as their own. This is quickly being regonised and dealt with either by defaulttrust or the moderators.
maybe what we should consider is a system where people who do not have merit can flag a post up for review by a merit source. I think this way merit sources wouldn't have to worry about finding posts actively and can rely on the rest of the community to find them and their job would only be to distribute them fairly.

THIS is why there is no other way of getting Merits, so that people like you should not be able to increase in rank and stay out of this forum for as long as they don't learn to read/understand. You either did not read the thread about Merit system, or you don't have a mind to understand the reason why the system has been implemented, because if you would have understood, you would never ask something like this. P.S: Sorry for being rude, but I seriously couldn't help it. Edit: 2) Another option to increase your probability of getting merits is by posting in merit giveaway threads. There are a lot of members offering merit giveaways where you can quote your high quality posts and get merited. But make sure that your last 20-30 posts reflect that you are putting some effort.
Don't say it in a way as if it is a different way of getting Merits. Those threads are not awarding Merits for nothing, but they ask for quality posts in order to get Merits, and reading this post, I don't think OP can make it up to that. So basically, there is no way for OP to get Merits unless he improves for a few months and then get back here as a more helpful and knowledgeable person. And besides, he is asking for a way to get Merits without getting them from others, and that is simply not possible. |

Merits are always welcome  thus, quoting a post of mine I believe is worthy. I'm definitely happy with the new system. By close observations, a person can clearly see that the majority of the people on this forum don't even know what a quality post is. Most of them think "more characters = higher post quality", and just because of this false assumption they start making much more longer and way more useless posts to make them look like quality posts, while the quality of a post has nothing to do with its quantity of length. Merit system can be (if not used with partiality) a permanent full stop for all those accounts created for nothing else but joining Signature Campaigns. And that thus leads to less spam, IMO. I mentioned on the main thread that a downfall to this sort of system is that people who start the topics are going to get a lot more merits than anyone posting in existing discussion. This will likely lead to people posting new threads which are duplicates from others in attempt to earn more merits.
People creating duplicate or useless threads in order to get Merits would not get any, because that is why this system is implemented. If the duplicate or spam threads start to get Merits then there is no use of the system as there is no restriction for anyone from any rank on creating threads. I think merit is an unofficial judgement where most of the people gives merit to those well-known campaign managers to make sure that those managers will include them in their next signature campaign . and how about those newbies and junior members who have quality post . are they eligible to rank up?
Hopefully in future the campaigns will require Extra Merit Points (Beside the ones already given for each rank on implementation of the system) to join along with the rank. And if that happens, there will be no use of Meriting well-known signature campaign managers to get into their campaigns if you yourself have none. About newbies and jr. members with high quality posts; you can already find them having Merits. My profile is an example of that. So yes, we can rank up if we deserve to, and if we don't, we won't. |

I don't think it would be reasonable to put users on a monthly probation of earning a certain amount of Merits to stay within the rank, and get demoted if they fail. The Merit system itself is good enough to control the ranks and promotions where you can't get promoted unless you acquire a certain amount of Merits, no matter how much time you spend on the forum. However, de-ranking old users sounds to be a really interesting idea to me. And I think, it would be even better to de-rank users according to the Merits they have earned until now. I mean, if a Hero member is to be de-ranked, and he has 600+ Merits (100+ gained after the Merit distribution) by the time, he should be de-ranked to Full member, as we know that 100 Merits are required to reach Full member rank. All members should be de-ranked accordingly. And from that point, everyone will need to put equal efforts to reach a higher rank. Hence, there will be no one spared by the effects of Merit system. P.S: satoshi should be excluded from the list of users to be de-ranked.  |

I think the spread of FUDs is the biggest problem for new investors. A person who wants to join an industry as an investor would probably want no flaws in it, and finding some would surely make him lose confidence a bit, or a lot in some cases. FUDs about cryptocurrencies do the same to new investors. They find a lot of negative news revolving around the whole crypto community, demonstrating a totally falsified form of cryptocurrencies. The investors start thinking that maybe they are getting into something they shouldn't, and that probably is a problem in my opinion for people willing to invest in cryptocurrencies. In order to help new crypto investors, we need to come together to create a place for them to trust the information they are reading and the people they are getting it from.
This forum is all about that. We don't need to make any other place to do the same thing that is being done in this forum already. They just need to find it in order to get the genuine information about every aspect of cryptocurrencies. The information gained from this forum has never been different from what the reality is, and if there are any that are not totally true, they are corrected by others in the forum having more knowledge about that thing. |

What do you have to do with those countries if your country is not forbidding it? Are you not going to buy Bitcoins from your own country, but travel to one of those countries to buy them? If that is what you intend to do, then you obviously will have to wait a long time (or maybe forever), otherwise, that should not be your concern at all if your country allows trading it.
No one can ever know if a country is ever going to make Bitcoin legal or illegal. It totally depends on the thoughts of the authorities of that country, and those thoughts are never public unless they decide to implement them.

Every single cryptocurrency in markets is being used by people in general. But, of course, no other cryptocurrency than Bitcoin has yet been practically used for payments if that is what you mean by "actual use of cryptocurrencies".
BTC and ETH are top most used cryptocurrencies in the market right now. Their total market capitalization is the clear proof of that. After these two, starts the series of the other popular cryptocurrencies, like XMR, Dash, BCH etc.
