Frizz in your expert opinion who is on time and who will ship before March 1, 2013. I personally do not expect to see a product from anyone till March. Anyone who knows about fab and design knows there is no way( unless your Intel) that any company could turn out a new design and chip and product in less that 9 months and be profitable. It's just facts.
You already answered your own question  From what I've seen so far Avalons approach seems to be the most reasonable - from an engineers point of view. As for BFL: What they have posted so far makes no sense at all. Either they are blatant liars - or they are the most dilettante company on this planet. Maybe they are really, really lucky - and can ship in March 2013. Maybe they vastly underestimated the complexity of ASICs - have to redesign, rework, postpone again and again - and finally run out of money. And never deliver. I'd say the probability of this is > 50%. imho |

Are you referring to this post? What concerns me is that I get the impression that Jody and Josh are not even in the same building most of the time. They talk as if they haven't seen each other in the workplace [in the same day]. Whats up with that? Why is Jody talking about it like it's the first shes heard of it? Isn't she GM (General Manager) and don't they see each other all of the time? Or is she a stay at home CS type of thing? (Serious question) why does she act like she just heard the latest word from the blog or a post? I got lost with BFLs updates/announcements/delays. 11th December was when Josh was gonna confirm that 24th chip delivery December date.

This is BFL's first ASIC. Any fab that does 65nm has done thousands of runs of ASICs. BFL's lack of experience is the true cause of the delays. Not the fab.
So version 1 applies (BFL scams us). Because they claim that their fab can't keep deadlines, is hard to get hold on, etc. - while instead BFL is not able to manage the (65nm) process. And possibly never will be (within reasonable time (3 years) and reasonable budget (10 million USD)). |
