1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin art created by AI {gallery} ... and the satoshi portrait as well. on: August 10, 2022, 12:03:37 PM
Frankly, the most concerning thing about this A.I generated digital drawing is that over the years to come, big companies won't hire digital artists anymore to work on their marketing campaigns or any other aspect of character design for gaming companies. And that's very unfortunate for people like me who just got into this niche few years ago where I spent hundreds of hours to improve and master this craft.

Other people may seem to view A.I as a tool that will aid artists to do their job more efficiently especially to those who are veteran in the field, which will make them stand out among others, but as a young artist this thing creeps me out, and there's this feeling that anytime soon, when computer became more sentient, artist like me can be easily replaced  Embarrassed

And it sucks, especially if this is the only field in which you are sure that you excel. Plus, the art industry itself already suffers from being undervalued, because some people think that a piece of artwork can be easily done without a sweat and that they can find other way to do that themselves -- and this A.I can prove that those lines isn't half ass joke anymore.
1042  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: TIME TO LOOK FOR A NEW MERIT SOURCE! on: August 07, 2022, 11:46:20 AM
Ngayon ko lang napansin tong thread LOL For those peeps who doesn't have any idea on how to apply as a merit source..

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

Just to clarify though, lalo na sa mga nagsasabing hindi need ng merit source kasi inactive yung local. Kapag sinabi mo naman kasing merit source, yung responsibility non isn't inclusive lang sa local, meaning prerogative niyang magbigay ng merit as long as he deems it useful/interesting in any way regardless of where it was posted.

and yeah! just butting in sa thread.
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ready player one vibe on: August 07, 2022, 11:02:59 AM
That's not going to happen especially if you look at the current play to earn games economy and how poor their gameplay was which are unsustainable in the long run.

On my radar, Axie is the only NFT that is still generating some noise online, and yet their playerbase continues to decline as a result of the token inflation issue that has not been rectified and the band-aid fixes they have previously implemented in the past. Don't get me wrong, because I am still an AXS holder and owned a handful of teams of axies which until today I didn't sold. And yeah, I'm still holding out some tiny bit of hope that Axie will eventually make a full recovery.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple deposit never received on: August 06, 2022, 02:51:29 PM
Did you wait for about a few minutes? Because as far as I know, apart from the confirmations on the block explorer, Binance always have their required confirmation before they can credit your deposit into your account.

Alternatively, you can check out this article for self recovery methods since the txhash you posted says the tx is confirmed.

Since I am usually being tagged by @aysg76, I just realized that I missed posting the 1337 merit count or what they call "leet". And I was like, I missed an opportunity I was waiting for back in the day when my rank was still a "Member"  Cheesy
1046  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Question] Compatibility issues on Linux Mint for Electrum & Ledger Live on: August 06, 2022, 07:38:35 AM
@everyone! Thank you very much for all the replies. I have now managed to verify and install both Electrum and Ledger Live on my Linux Mint and I am extremely happy with it.

For the newbies out there like myself who are trying to get away from Windows and plan to transition to Linux, below is the documentation I've recorded to let others know the issues I ran into during the installation process

To start, despite the fact that Electrum is a included Linux's "Software Manager (it's like MS Store version of Windows)," it is still strongly advised that you verify and download the app from the official Electrum website so that you can check the AppImage's authenticity by reviewing this thread[1]. Similar to Ledger Live, their website also provides instructions on how to use GtkHash to check the AppImage's authenticity.

Moreover, running both Electrum and LL in Linux isn't similar as to how Windows run these application because you need to download some sort of program called udev rules that enables Ledger Nano device/Trezor to interact with Electrum and LL within that period of plugging/unplugging the hardware component. Otherwise you'll get an error that looks like this.

Fortunately, you can easily download the a file on the ledger's github by typing the wget command in the terminal.

Code:
wget -q -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LedgerHQ/udev-rules/master/add_udev_rules.sh | sudo bash

That's pretty much it  Cheesy. As a beginner, trying to understand the nitty gritty of Linux is by far rewarding, you'll just need to research every move you are going to execute on the internet to avoid having issues. Plus, asking questions isn't illegal.

but I would suggest checking out new Fedora 36 instead of Linux Mint.
Fedora has better security, it has much newer kernel and software releases while being stable, and it's not based on Ubuntu like Linux Mint.
There is a bit learning curve when you switch to Linux but it pays off big time, and you will be much more secure from malware.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! As a learning tool for the Linux environment in the meantime, I'll try Linux Mint, and once I feel comfortable with it, I'll surely switch to Fedora as you recommended Grin. And it's true that learning Linux is pretty solid.

Before installing any Linux OS you should first test if it works with your hardware using some live USB stick.
Linux Mint works like magic in my laptop as compared with Windows LOL
1047  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] on: August 06, 2022, 04:33:23 AM
Just want to to verify  Cheesy

Does the electrum's latest release 4.3.0 only signed by SomberNight and Thomas Voegtlin? Here's the result in terminal.

Quote
gpg: Good signature from "SomberNight/ghost43 (Electrum RELEASE signing key) <somber.night@protonmail.com>" [full]
gpg: Signature made Friday, 05 August, 2022 11:06:27 PM PST
gpg:                using RSA key 6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6
gpg: Good signature from "Thomas Voegtlin (https://electrum.org) <thomasv@electrum.org>" [full]
gpg:                 aka "ThomasV <thomasv1@gmx.de>" [full]
gpg:                 aka "Thomas Voegtlin <thomasv1@gmx.de>" [full]

If so, then what happened to Stephan Oeste? Because the last time I updated Electrum, I have 3 valid signatures upon verifiying. Thank you!!
1048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Question] Compatibility issues on Linux Mint for Electrum & Ledger Live on: August 05, 2022, 07:35:40 AM
@witcher_sense, can you please dumb down how can I downgrade the said package?

From what I have learned in the University, we used the command prompt, created a virtual environment, and then activate it before you can install packages using pip command. A code something like this as an example. I really admit knowing these technical stuff is too much for me as of now. Thank you very much!

conda create -n data_analysis python=3.7..
1049  Other / Beginners & Help / [Question] Compatibility issues on Linux Mint for Electrum & Ledger Live on: August 05, 2022, 05:29:45 AM
Hey everyone,

For privacy related concerns, I am planning to switch from Windows OS to Linux Mint as this is my first time using Linux distributions for my daily driver especially in crypto related usage.

But the question is, would there be any Electrum/Ledger Live and Linux Mint compatibility issues that would otherwise degrade my user experience? I know that Debian is the granddaddy of mint, so if there is anyone who used/has idea on debian based distro on their crypto related stuff, your inputs are very much appreciated.

Also any tips in mind to properly use the OS and not breaking it?
1050  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why beginners should pay attention to their privacy on: August 04, 2022, 11:48:48 AM
If your main goal is to receive Google search results with improved privacy then you can use Startpage as your search engine via any web browser. It searches Google on your behalf and returns identical results but without the privacy invasion.
I sincerely appreciate it. I recently added Startpage to my Android Firefox browser. It's a good thing though because I don't need to download another app since I'm temporarily following a "minimalist" approach since I don't have a degoogled phone or a custom rom installed.

Something else in relation to browser fingerprinting? Even though I can't install Chrome and have logged out of my Google account, does Chrome still keeps profiling (browser fingerprinting) me in the background despite the app not being used?
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Running household expenses with gambling on: August 04, 2022, 10:30:39 AM
Bruh! If people depend their expenses on some form of luck -- they probably need an immediate checking. Plus, saying that you don't have a skill in any niche is just an excuse.

But seriously, how can someone gamble when in the first place they do not have a job? i mean the risk obviously outweighs the reward.
1052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question related to new users on: August 04, 2022, 10:03:39 AM
Seeing your artworks in Twitter, I am afraid that a classical/abstract approach wouldn't get much traction in public as opposed to a digitally/3d modelled artworks which can be enhanced using various computer software. I am an artist as well and from what I have experienced, modern looking NFT's are far more marketable than those traditionally looking NFT's arts.

When I say modern, these are NFT's that is created using 3d modelling software such as blender, autodesk, fusion and what not. And I know the artscene in cryptospace sucks especially when you are not as popular as Beeple or else you can't make any sale even if you have a genuine motive.

You just have to admit that the NFT space won't be profitable if you are a one man team, no partnership to major companies, working product, and modern looking artworks.

I would only use Degoogled Chromium if you really need to use a Chromium based browser for a specific task.
Sorry for the dumb question, but how can I install this on my Android device?

I have checked the github page and I noticed that there is a link under the custom F-Droid repository but the problem is upon clicking the link, it shows "403 Forbidden". On a sidenote, I've never done any custom build/installing on any device in my life, so I assume that installing it isn't just as simple as clicking the install button.

I just want to use this degoogled chromium to maintain the search results similar to using chrome but with an improved privacy aside from using DDG for casual(common) searches.
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you stop gamble if your girl friend insists ? on: August 02, 2022, 03:37:01 PM
Depends on the situation, because there are instances where a woman/girlfriend keeps you from getting off of your entertainment/pastime even without them affecting your quality of life and your time spent to your girlfriend.

Because if that's the case, I would otherwise leave that woman for an entertainment that keeps me sane especially if I know that I am gambling in moderation unless you really love her and want to have a toxic relationship. YIKES!

Do you have a suggestion of what email service I can use that supports aliases?
I am using simplelogin[1] as my email forwarding/alias services. You can also use anonaddy as an alternative depending on your preferrence. But currently, I am paying for premium on simplelogin for about $30/year.

With premium, you can have unlimited alias, mailboxes, and custom domain if you bought a personalized one from namecheap or any other domain name services. Having unlimited alias means that you can create compartmentalized emails for every services you signed up while having a sense of control to see which companies sold your personal information to third parties because you have what they call a kill switch.

Other than masking your real email account which is more concerned about privacy, I think it serves as an additional layer of security for potential hackers. If they don't know about you, they can't attack you.

Of course, you can have as much email as you want for bitcoin related accounts (if premium).

But i would say we should be using spare mails for having these casinos account
Yeah, that's what I am doing right now, compartmentalizing the casino emails apart from professional/finance/ personal emails to reduce the risks of getting compromised when other accounts have been stolen or hacked. Plus, you can really see which casinos shared your personal details to third parties when you got bombarded with shitty ads.

But anyways, thanks for the suggestions.
1057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why beginners should pay attention to their privacy on: August 02, 2022, 01:03:09 PM
Proud to say that I am making some progress in terms of privacy.

A few days ago, I began by uninstalling all the programs I rarely use, tweaking or disabling all the unnecessary permissions of the installed apps, removing all the messages and call histories, and fabricating all of my personal data on the accounts I had created years ago before deleting them entirely.

Currently, I am in the process of swtiching the emails I used(gmail) for the services I registered for by moving to privacy-focused email providers and setting up email aliases that will allow me to hide and receive emails without disclosing the real one. It's a pain the ass though, since you'll have to do it individually. And if I may suggest, buying a custom domain from namecheap would be ideal incase the service(simplelogin) shuts down even though it's unlikely.

I am also planning to switch to custom roms, calyxOS for Android and Linux to my computer, sooner when I have all the time to educate myself with regards to this. After that, I would happily create my own node for bitcoin to actually preserve and maintain my privacy in the long run.

I know these are just small stuff and is considered to be basic for an average bitcoin joe, but hey it's fun doing it.
1058  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kewltech Technical Analysis blogs on: August 02, 2022, 11:49:28 AM
i have the entire kewltech trading blog downloaded on html files. contact me if you are interested
Thanks for the offer, but I am not interested in reading Kewltech's blog anymore as I have found other resources that I think is more sensible over the others, has continuous progress on making that strategy effective, and has fun community.

Again, the offer is very much appreciated. Locking the thread.
1059  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 02, 2022, 09:19:54 AM
Hey everyone, I just noticed that casinos including Roobet doesn't allow their gamblers/customers to change their registered email address? Is there any other way to change and verify the new email add?

Because currently, I am decluttering my emails due to unsolicited and spam messages which might compromise all the associated accounts in that specific email address. If it's not possible, I guess changing a long password would suffice. Thank you.
1060  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diversified are you with your investment, crypto aside? on: August 01, 2022, 02:37:48 PM
I am currently an undergrad and is heavily invested in bitcoin and other mainstream NFT that until now I haven't got my investment back, let alone the profits. My savings account(bank), on the other hand, only serves as an emergency fund worth of 3 months, this means that this is liquid and can be withdrawn immediately when things got bad.

Outside the academic stuff, I also do some side projects(e.g., drawing commission, graphics), along with planning an e-commerce niche that runs on advertisement on facebook.

The point is, you can't expect to beat the inflation by simply relying on the APY return from your savings account and you need to find alternative to increase your active and passive income. After which, you can then plan to diversify your asset (which I am planning to do so) with alternative like bonds, real estate/rental properties, ETF's..

Do note that I am DCA'ing BTC while building all those stuff I have said..
