You should be mining doge.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin going to survive the fall? on: August 18, 2014, 02:06:30 PM
Yes, of course. There will be a lot of buyers at $1.

The hacker gave back most of the loot, left a few million for himself, which could depress price for ~2 weeks if he chose to sell, but he actually said he believes in NXT and intends to keep those few mln NXTs, go figure!

Not as dramatic as flash crash to $102 in March, but not bad nonetheless.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: August 18, 2014, 11:45:23 AM
Here is the 3-day resolution chart of dogecoin priced in bitcoin. Note that bitcoin has dropped 2.4x from its November peak. Valued in bitcoin, the DOGE bubble has collapsed almost 13x from its corresponding peak.

You are right, the Doge bubble has collapsed. As for the Litecoin bubble, its collapse is still in the making.

1069  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: August 18, 2014, 10:08:30 AM
I figure $800 to $850 by December.

Which year? Smiley

Seriously, this is not likely in 2014. I think the era of bubbles is over, it will be more gradual now, which means it can't happen so fast if the rise only starts around November.

$400-450 will be a good entry point at any rate.
1070  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: August 18, 2014, 10:06:02 AM
That would be the slowest rise ever and is highly unlikely I believe. When it get's close to the ATH it will go really fast as always and dramatically overshoot.

$400->$1000 in 12 months, I wouldn't call it slow, any investor would be happy to have that kind of return. As for going fast when it gets to ATH, not sure about that, it will depend on a lot of factors.
1071  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: August 18, 2014, 10:02:27 AM
The bottom will be at $400 in September, then stabilization for a couple of months and then starting from November a rise over 12 months to reach the previous ATH ($1000-1200) by the end of 2015.

It doesn't need any bad news to go to $400, Bitcoin is inflationary with 3600 new Bitcoins added to the total supply every day from miners. Large demand obviously is not there yet, adoption by population is not happening as fast as anticipated. But at $400 there should be enough support to stop the decline and reverse the trend. Of course it can't happen overnight, will take months to develop.

that terminology concerns me.. i don't want to be heavily invested in a "social experiment" thanks.
that just comes across like a crappy excuse..
like your just trying to smooth things over.

Well, you don't have to invest. Bitcoin is also a social experiment, by the way. Basically, anything is Smiley
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: August 18, 2014, 05:23:52 AM
Doge has more potential than Litecoin, because Doge has already hit the rock bottom and its inflation is slowing down, Litecoin has most downside risk, its inflation will be in double-digits for a few years.

No DOGE has more potential because it has something that is unique and difficult to replicate (a brand and community). That may not be much, but LTC has nothing at all. It is just BTC without the advantages of BTC.

I agree. But since the poster above presented price action charts, I only made a point about the monetary aspect of Doge. Doge has a brand and community that Litecoin can't compare with, that's true. Those are all factors that will first make Doge's market cap and hash rate equal to Litecoin's and then exceed Litecoin's.

Doge has more potential than Litecoin, because Doge has already hit the rock bottom and its inflation is slowing down, Litecoin has more downside risk, its inflation will be in double-digits for a few years. Doge is now also a support currency for Dogeparty trading platform, and Doge/Dogeparty direct trading is very likely. While nothing is happening in Litecoin, at all.

What is the current hash rate of Litecoin?

You guys don't get it.
NXT is supposed to be a social experiment as well as a crypto currency experiment per its founder's original intention.

That's why a choice was presented to the community. The majority of the community were against rollback and voted against rollback with their stakes, which can be interpreted as the majority of NXT community understand the purposes of crypto and why rewriting history is bad, unless it's a technical issue with software of course.

If no choice had been given, the NXT community wouldn't know who stands for which values. It's best to know beforehand while NXT is still small what the community members are up to, because without a community any crypto currency is dead. If no choice had been given, it would mean developers couldn't be sure in the future if NXT is supported just by profiteers or mostly by genuine enthusiasts. Now they can be sure of the latter outcome.
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum & BitShares Partnership!! on: August 18, 2014, 04:24:42 AM
Good point. At least you are being more amicable now than your other Nxt friends. I really don't get the hatred that most Nxt users seem to have against Bitshares and Ethereum. I do not own any crypto currencies at the moment, so all of my opinions are as close to honest opinions as I can get, but I fear others are more worried about their personal agendas and what will make them the most rich. I discuss ALT coins out of genuine interest and the will to see them improved upon, mainly for academic purposes.

Honestly, I see great potential in Nxt, Ethereum, AND Bitshares. We as an ALT coin community... Arguably the Front runners in the cryptocoin 2.0 wars work together, much more will come of it rather than fighting all the time. I haven't really seen Eth/Bitshares supporters dogging on Nxt, why do you guys feel the need to? You guys say that Eth/Bitshares is scared of Nxt, but it kind of looks like it's the other way around...

I think all three have great potential. it is bad enough to have the Bitcoin/Litecoin nut hungers against us, we don't need more enemies than are necessary.

I like and own both NXT and Bitshares.
There is no hatred.
However, if you haven't seen Bitshares supporters dogging on NXT, it doesn't mean there hasn't been any dogging (comparison table of Bitshares vs other cryptos is one example, which would have stayed hugely skewed if not corrected in time or Dan's own article why Bitshares is above NXT is another). Perhaps you haven't followed these issues because you don't own any cryptos.

It will be to everyone's benefit if supporters of both coins try to present objective view of their favorite coin without distortions of reality. Both NXT and Bitshares supporters have been biased sometimes, that's a fact. Both coin supporters should try to get rid of that bias. My question on market pegged assets was genuine interest, because this term can be loosely interpreted and I was interested what Bitshares' definition is. I am learning, and ask questions. By the way, this helps everyone reading these threads get answers too.

Not sure about Ethereum though, it doesn't exist on live net yet, and it's hard to tell what it can or cannot do.

But Cyrpto does need some protection from hackers. The masses will never adopt it fully until they feel there money is safe. And no matter how much you explain how much safer it is than at the mercy of institutions people just won't believe it. Because lets face it, People are generally morons.

Crypto community must be ready for the time (2015 looks very probable as a start) when bank bail-ins start happening on a big scale (Cyprus was the early bird) and to offer people alternatives in the form of cryptos, emphasizing that cryptos are decentralized and are a safe haven against bail-ins. That's one of most likely reasons the adoption can quicken pace. Not by everyone. Many people will take a 'haircut' of their deposits in the bank and hope it will not happen again, till the next 'haircut' and so on, until their entire savings are nullified.

Well not putting words in anyone's mouth but I recall many in the NXT community describe Qora as their backup if NXT ran into any problems.  Grin

Back the truck up!

I am sorry, I am late to this thread, should I still back up the truck with Qora? Grin
