Thats not the issue. The issue is that you are now in possession of illegal material.
It's hard to prove that. If you have file "1.jpg" which has illegal picture - it is "storing of content". But if you have blockchain with encrypted picture which could be picked from it only with help of special software... Uh, I can write a program, that will get 128 kilobytes of symbols from Windows system common files, and - bah! - it is illegal content! So ALL users of this Windows version can be blamed. |

Difficulty is near 8 now! Does anyone remember what was difficulty increase for XPM in 24 hours?
edited: just looked into XPM thread. It seems that it was a little bit more than 7 for XPM. Datacoin started with diff ~7 (much more comparing to XPM), now it is 8 and raising very quickly.
xpm release miner was a LOT slower than the optimized version we are using now. might explain something .. I know, that's why I wrote "it is 8 and raising very quickly" - just forgot to clarify. We didn't see so big difficulty increase in case of XPM because of that, but it means that network is adjusting diff rather quick depending on total hashpower. Not really like that, i guess more like a decentralised torrent hosting site, if combined with tor or something i guess impossible to shut off. I guess quite a lot of potential things can be done with it. You don't think 513GB a year is an insane requirement? And what happens when someone puts kiddy porn in the blockchain? 128kb is plenty for a jpeg file. This has bad idea written all over it. Firstly, these files will be stored in archived state in some part of this blockchain - not simply "file 1.jpg is stored in /home/pictures" Secondly, look to decentralized networks like I2P\Tor. There is so much illegal content here, but if you need TOR to browse, for example, political sites that are being censored in Internet, you won't touch this content. edited: and yeah, in future it can be like a 'small internet' where you can find whatever you want - but you can find the same (torrents, some strange content) in WWW now. |

If you are running an untrusted exe file on your computer along your BTC wallet, you are an asshole. Besides this, most likely the problem is between your chair and your keyboard. Nice response, now I remember why I don't post on here anymore. Actually my main BTC wallet isn't on this computer. So, my major coins aren't touched. I keep this wallet as 'small change'. I'm not stressing if it's a loss. But, if there is a wallet stealer then I want people to know about it. thanks, I think people are warned now. But there is still no proof for that. And, frankly speaking, I don't think that such good idea of coin was developed only to steal few coins (I think that nobody runs unconfirmed exe on machint with major amount of their coins) |

1. make sure that BTC are really transferred from your wallet, check if this .8XXX amount really disappears from your wallet (maybe with proofs?..) 2. if 1st suggestion is confirmed, you need to check this on clean virtual machine with only Datacoin and Bitcoin installed, because your computer can be infected with some stealing software, not related to Datacoin. |

If I got it right, you don't need to pay. You just need to make a transaction with data added. oocook5u , can you clarify that? even if you do have to send 0.00000000000000000000000001 coins you can send millions for a cent or much less i guess? The idea is excellent i really like it. Shame only 1meg but even so the chain will be huge. This idea is very profitable for this coin. It doesn't need stores accepting it so much as other coins do. In near future, when difficulty goes high and there appears some decent price, the block reward will be reasonable reward for people who gives 500-1000-2000 GB of their own HDD space to store information. |

agree, would be cool to have an easy to use attach-function Tools will be build around the original client. This could be awesome, and yes the blockchain can be big, but guys we are on the BIG DATA era. and nowadays 2TB and 3TB disks are pretty common. Attach-function (bash script) can be taken from OP post, and simple QT frontend app can be compiled for this purpose I can do that, but now I'm leaving my home computer... maybe anyone other helps? It's REALLY simple, you know And yes, just to me this coin seems more useful than XPM in common sense (sorry SunnyKing  ), because there is much more people who need some info stored in decentralized storage than people who need prime numbers |

Interesting coin. If we use it for storing torrent-files, it will be decentralized network to store info for another decentralized network, brilliant!  Seriously, it can be a great foundation for saving info and motivating people to support the network. The only problem is big blockchain, but it could be really stored on servers (hosted by some users), and other users won't hold the whole blockchain on their local computers. I think in next years 500 GB yearly won't be a big problem because the standard for a harddisk will be >5 or even >10 TB. Yes, you're right. Even now 3-5 TB is rather usual for home PC |
