1101  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Safe.Cash BETA - GET a FREE wallet PLUS $5 USD to redeem for Bitcoins! on: August 16, 2015, 06:17:53 PM
Got 5 USD from firstcoins, and sent it to jasonk with the memo [Snail2] [1P1tyMAnGEQycnLnX7Qq9sod4azxSBnZbW] (TX ID: 92a617e7f6b4db1067046e9ff1e7019eee08a6578d13139c13f0ee5e92edd8fa).

This site looks pretty easy to use. BTW how can I deposit and withdraw, and what currencies?
1102  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What Are The Five Biggest Boldest Socialist Success Stories Since 1917? on: August 15, 2015, 10:26:46 PM
Socialism is good for creating weapons and invading countries? There must be other examples other than those "vectors of creativity"...
So, since 1917 what are examples of socialism being implemented properly?

I really don't want to defend and promote socialism, but actually socialist countries very rarely initiated wars and invaded other countries. (I'm not counting revolutions, civil wars, re-joining divided countries, or sending military help to friendly countries as invasion.) Especially if you compare the number of their invasions to the numbers of invasions started by the US and other western countries in the last 70 years.

There's no properly implemented socialism. It's a flawed design, so it doesn't matter how you implement it, you will always end up with a collapsed economy. Even the Chinese returned to a capitalist economy to be able to finance the "socialist" state.
1103  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What Are The Five Biggest Boldest Socialist Success Stories Since 1917? on: August 15, 2015, 10:05:44 PM
Is socialism a natural vector of creativity? Sounds like you had to be in good term with the boss and the politburo... Until the new boss comes... Then. Watch out!

Back in the socialist times creativity always been greatly encouraged in certain areas like technology and science, tolerated in other areas like arts, literature (until the author or artist honoured some rules), and fiercely discouraged in areas like economy, philosophy and politics.
1104  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What Are The Five Biggest Boldest Socialist Success Stories Since 1917? on: August 14, 2015, 09:53:11 PM
Surviving for so many years with such a flawed economic system and in the meantime still having the resources to build/achieve a lot of actually quite appealing things.
Winning WW2.
Transforming Russia from a second class country to a superpower.
First space vehicle.
First man in the space...
...and so on.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin developer anonymity on: August 14, 2015, 11:57:26 AM
Citation required.

Cheers

Graham

Doxing or trying to do that and harassing devs or other high visibility coin promoters have been common practice here in the last few years. Of course my example is an extreme one, but for example in last year when Bluemeanie1 was running amok here, sometimes it seemed almost plausible :/.

Not the best example but also worth to take a look at some Havelock related topics in the Securities board after friedcat went missing.
1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: August 14, 2015, 11:43:34 AM
Who is jl777?  Huh exactly All red flags in the air!

NXT and ease of acces?  Undecided I really think you should ask a random person on the street what he thinks about NXT and ease of acces. It is simply not user friendly.

Who is the creator of nxt?  Huh

NXT marketplace, NXT AE really? are you serious?  Huh
People find a cumbersome way of just creating a NXT account let alone go on the marketplace or AE.

You know, red flag is something like devs promising stuff (optionally taking money for the development) but not delivering. jl777 and the rest of the NXT devs are keep delivering.
Could you tell me please what causing difficulties for you with the NXT client?
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin developer anonymity on: August 14, 2015, 11:18:02 AM
Developer anonymity is double edged sword indeed. Anonymity encourages scammers but on the other hand it ensures that no retards going to torch their house or kidnap their loved ones after jumping into a coin on the top of a pump and losing a lot of money during the dump and then accusing the dev for their bad trades.
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: August 14, 2015, 10:46:43 AM
Who are the NXT devs by the way?  Huh

Go here: http://188.166.98.134/developers/contact-to-developers/ and ask them.

Quote
Where can I buy clothes and food with NXT?  Cry

Theoretically on the NXT Marketplace... it you are happy with NXT T-shirts, NXT muffins, maybe with some maple syrup Smiley.

Quote
Can I do a crowdfund with NXT?  Embarrassed

Yes, you can on the NXT AE.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: August 14, 2015, 10:24:33 AM
BitcoinXT. It has great growth potential and can reach parity with BTC, in addition by using it you will have a slight chance for doubling your BTC holdings instantly by double spending it on the XT network Smiley.
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinXT the Alt section welcomes you on: August 14, 2015, 10:10:43 AM
though if bitcointalk was consistent with their action they'd ban bitcoinxt talk here altogether like they did with bitcoin scrypt.

That's true. As far as I can remember in the case of bitcoin scrypt they said it can mislead new/ill-informed people and it can mess up real bitcoin wallets as it used the same path. You are right, bitcoinxt doing the same things Smiley.

PS. I'm still using a wallet.dat from bitcoin scrypt as a bait on the default path. It's even loaded with a few scryptBTCs  Grin.
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinXT the Alt section welcomes you on: August 14, 2015, 08:31:57 AM
what on earth is bitcoinxt? did someone come up with yet another genius idea to save the bitcoin world?

Yep! Exactly that's what happened. Gavin and 3% (as of today) of the BTC community want bigger blocks for making BTC future proof at all cost. Unfortunately a hard fork needs to be done to achieve this, and most of the community dislike the idea of a hard fork. Despite all objections from the community and the rest of the core developers Gavin released his stuff and Theymos moved it into the altcoin section (because of it's an alternative blockchain). (Actually at this moment it's only an alternative client, but when 75% of the nodes are running XT the fork will happen.)
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Mining, Fair Launch, No ICO, Based on Ethereum. on: August 13, 2015, 12:19:32 PM
used to be?!?! Tongue I agree PoW/PoS sounds good to me.

OK. I do apologize. I meant "always been" Smiley.

Four of the top five listings on coinmarketcap are pure POW.  There is nothing "freaky" about success.

Please note that a coin can't be really decentralized if the miners can monopolize or semi-centralize the "network maintenance" and currency emission tasks. PoS is a good way for the majority of the coin holders/users to keep some control over the coin against the few big miners.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Ethereum on: August 13, 2015, 12:06:08 PM
You've got a point there. It seems it is so. Anyways, the idea of Ethereum for smart contracts and decentralized applications is really cool. One that I'm looking forward to is Maidsafe.  Cheesy

In my pipe dreams I see some great possibilities for an integration between Maidsafe and Ethereum as well Smiley. E.g. Maidsafe could be an excellent infrastructure for storing digital goods, providing storage and computing services, and Ethereum can be the trading platform, accounting, billing and legal service for all that stuff Smiley.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Ethereum on: August 13, 2015, 11:46:30 AM
This is what I think: Ethereum will survive and Ripple will die for sure. Why? Because Ripple is centralized. Just my opinion, though  Roll Eyes

Actually Ripple and ETH could work fine together. Ripple would be the gateway to the material stuff and a host of different crypto and fiat currencies and Ethereum can be the intelligence what monitoring and controlling the flow of goods and money.

BTW Ripple not going to be dead soon, there are tons of money behind them and money transfer services and some banks are jumping into it. Ripple's centralized nature is a benefit/requirement for such companies.
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Ethereum on: August 13, 2015, 11:24:17 AM
im not an altcoin guy but im suddenly interested , as i can see on coinmarketcap there is ripple just after bitcoin then after it litecoin and ethereum , still isee a lotof people speaking about ethereum more then they do about ripple i just checked the website on ethereum and for some reasons i didn't understand anything , can't even find an executable file to download and if it's on beta will people lose their ether later (that's if they are storing them anywhere)

This comparison would be something like comparing an elephant with a whale. Two entirely different animal optimized for two entirely different living area Smiley. Ripple is an IOU system for making different stuff (e.g.: elephant to BTC) easily swappable, while ETH is basically a framework for making contracts and then enforcing and verifying the processing of these contracts. As relaying between different systems is also possible, in the future it could be a framework for glueing together different platforms.

It's in alpha so there are no binaries like a ready to use QT wallet. You need to deploy it as it described here: https://www.ethereum.org/cli.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's big lie? IBM Adept on: August 13, 2015, 10:44:28 AM
I can't find too much news about this IBM project, but IBM used to keep silent about the details of ongoing developments. Interestingly in the final draft (http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=XB&infotype=PM&appname=GBSE_GB_TI_USEN&htmlfid=GBE03620USEN&attachment=GBE03620USEN.PDF) they don't mention Ethereum, but talking about blockchain technology and automated transactions and contracts. I've found ETH only between the references. They might planning to fork ETH, instead of using it.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone selling NXT for ETH? on: August 13, 2015, 08:21:47 AM
Zer0Sum and people with the similar mindset failed to realize that people who are genuinely interested in NXT are also interested in ETH, and maybe obtained some long time ago, now they are probably started finding out ways to integrate ETH and NXT and extend their holdings on both ecosystems. Those who used NXT for trading, without being interested in the platform already dumped their stacks, maybe back in the ETH ICO time, or a few days ago. So, IMO trying to scare away NXT holders, in hopes of pumping ETH is a quite futile effort.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with all these people switching to BitcoinXT? on: August 13, 2015, 07:21:35 AM
No, you're not right. If you use the Bitcoin-XT wallet to send BTC somewhere now, it will confirm on the blockchain and you won't have coins in either wallet. There will only be a fork if 75+% of the network starts running XT v0.11 I think, then after two weeks of 75+% of network running XT the fork allowing larger blocks will take effect. For now, Bitcoin-XT is just an alternate client to Bitcoin-core/Qt, like Armory, Mycelium, etc.

Well, that's disappointing Smiley. So I have to wait until the fork happens to double spend. At this rate (~190 nodes out of something like 6000 in a month) that could take ages Sad. BTW, are there any measures/preparation against such double spending attempts?
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone selling NXT for ETH? on: August 12, 2015, 10:17:01 PM
Meme's a meme bud. It shows you're shook.

I don't have time to care about nautilushit and the greekshit. Literally, no one cares. There is no breakthrough, just murky language about gold and assets and UK legal entities.

In the meantime, ethereum is reinventing crypto.

There are some memes what are made for strengthening negative stereotypes. But if you don't mind that then be happy with this one above.

The real thing isn't the nautiluscoin here, but the flexibility of the NXT ecosystem. What ETH currently can do that's something what NXT, Qora and a couple of other coins just doing fine since "ages" between many other things. So, please keep the marketing BS for the noobs. Most of us here are interested only in facts, and in fact ETH going to be a great stuff, but not right now. So calm down and get back to the rational thinking.
1120  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin Gets Caught in His Own Trap on: August 12, 2015, 09:53:41 PM
Starting with the lowest bid or the highest ask is the number one rule in any kind of negotiations. If you have to raise your bid, or lower your ask you are still in profit, while you let the other side to make some gains, therefore you have a better chance for a win-win situation. Putin just have made his opening steps in this bargaining.
